Also, this navy blouse. Couldn't resist as it is a bit different than my others.

In the spirit of not saving anything for best or a special occasion, I have already worn both.

shopafrolic · 14/11/2016 17:31

I want to add red lipstick and pointed toe shoes or boots now :)

shopafrolic · 14/11/2016 17:31

Dream can you remind me again of the red lipstick you were wearing on Sat?

Dreamqueen · 14/11/2016 17:50

Shop I was wearing Nars-Heatwave.

I have to confess that I also detoured via Space NK & bought a Laura Mercier lipstick in Foreplay. It's very similar but has what they call velvet feel.

shopafrolic · 14/11/2016 18:16

Interesting premium range at H&M

shopafrolic · 14/11/2016 18:17

Thanks Dream - lethal location wasn't it? I'll take a look. My lips are dry and chapped at the moment so not ideal for red lipstick!

FedupNagging · 14/11/2016 18:21

I love how everyone is trying to sneak in another item mine was the pink lipstick I didn't put in any footwear either Shop but if I had, I would have added my stans or jordy's.

Nice tops Queen; I could be tempted by the Gap one, it looks such an easy everyday style to wear.

Waves back to berince, Smile, I think those DHL tees, are a sign of being hip and avant - garde in the world of street style, but outside in the real world, you look stupid, maybe that's the concept behind gvasalia designs ? Mocking try hard fashionistas and fashion influencers?

For me julia Hobbs killed any cult status vetements has ever reached, her explanation of vetements to the documentary maker in absolutely fashion, is about the best part in that nausea inducing programme ,

shop beautiful jumper, you can pull off the ruffles trend.

Beautiful dress mara and kitty that blouse is so pretty, I'm very much into blouses this season,

lib I was thinking about your question all day long! I like to think that

everything in my wardrobe, is "me", it would be hard to pick only 5, but because I've spent ages and ages searching for the perfect blazer, that ticks all my requirements I'd say that my saint laurent blazer is very "me" it just screams "Lara" and straight leg jeans, very difficult to find the perfect pair, and a good shirt! That's all I can think of for now!

VeryPunny · 14/11/2016 21:25

Love reading eveyone's five items!

Mine are:

  1. Chanel Pirate lipstick
  2. my Hermès scarves
  3. Silk dress from Jigsaw many moons ago that a friend persuaded me to buy, but I though it wasn't all that. My friend was totally right and it's a wardrobe staple now.
  4. Birkenstocks.
  5. Anthropologie skirt, bought when I lived in Manhattan.

Bonus mention to M&S seamfree pants and fantasy list members include a Collier de Chien and some leather leggings.

justasecond · 14/11/2016 21:46

Glad you all had a good mu, loved all the style round ups!
After pondering your question lib I think my most me items are
apc half moon black bag - I just love this bag makes any outfit look better
whistles grey slim long coat, I would love this in black too
I also love my grey wrap coat from zara which is my most worn coat but is now on its last legs
Heavy merino forest green long cos jumper with black leather pockets. It is about 5 years old now and worn a lot but still looks new.
A slim bottom half is very me although I hardly wear skinny jeans now. These are my fave atm worn with block heel ankle boots in burgundy
also love a printed silk like mara. I'm always on the lookout for a floral but non ditsy/cute print.

Love that jumper shop btw I highly recommend the hourglass powders an amazing product.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 14/11/2016 21:56

Hi all

Lovely to read the MU round ups and again I'm so sorry I couldn't make it in the end, you're all sweet to say I was missed. Plumber came (why I had to stay in) and boiler needs a part, long story short it will be fixed tomorrow pm, when we will be at home because DH is having 5 teeth removed under GA in the morning. Life eh Hmm anyway sounds totally fab as usual and I'm gutted to have missed you all (and surprise guest Sleep!)

Great question Lib, I'll have a go at my 5:

  • Pencil skirts (high waisted with a waistband)
  • Tippi jumpers
  • Silk shirts
  • Trench coat
  • Zarita
Classic with a bit of luxe!

shop I have a few bits from H&M premium range, cashmere jumper and leather ballet flats, ime it's good quality for the price. Never seen it in a shop though.

Longislandicetee · 14/11/2016 22:15

omg your poor dh Blair, hope it goes well for him.

my 5 very me things are:

  1. Accessories (please don't make me choose between bling, bag and shoesGrin)
  2. Underwear- I know you can't see it but it makes all the difference!
  3. Dresses (Roland Mouret for work) and the HL one I got for the party is very me too.
  4. My j crew toothpick jeans
  5. white company cashmere sweater

accessories, nice underwear and dress is my signature look Monday to Friday and accessories, nice underwear, cashmere sweater and skinnies is my weekend look.

Great question Lib!

Drywhitethanks · 14/11/2016 22:23

5 "me" items:

7/8 cigarette trousers
Pointy flats
Camel coat
Fitted dresses
Pencil skirts

Liberty the shies have arrived and they're perfect! An outfit found completely by MNV, thank you ladies

Topazandpearl · 14/11/2016 22:29

Great question Lib. I have been considering it on and off all day.

My choices are:

  1. Dresses - Me&Em ruched or shift dresses such as this one from Jaeger Outlet
  2. Jackets, usually cropped or my black leather biker.
  3. Opaque tights -black or navy
  4. Pistols - although my new tan knee-highs could make the cut too.
  5. Scarves - e.g. the 30-year-old Next scarf I wore to the mu, a Becksondergard scarf, an Hermès scarf and countless others.
Considering the above, I think I need a bit of an update, as I think I would have written the same list two years ago!
BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 15/11/2016 09:27

Topaz not sure if I missed it but did you end up getting the R&B knee highs at the MU? They were lovely.

Thanks Blingy. I have dropped him off and come to work, the hospital will call me when I can collect him. Then I'm on nurse duty!

If I could have a 6th item it would be my watch, prompted by Mara's post. It's extremely me Grin

Stokey · 15/11/2016 09:38

Is it wisdom teeth Blair? I had mine done a couple of years back - very sore.

5 items are tricky - & change sesaonally but:
Trainers - Stans or high-tops
Short dresses or mini skirts
chunky jumpers
leather jacket
scarves

I think I need to update the going out part of my wardrobe - seem to just have basics at the moment. I'm not sure what I need, maybe just a pair of block heels or funky boots and a top. I felt a bit underdressed on Saturday night with lots of women in cocktail dresses & I was in leather leggings & a furry gilet.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 15/11/2016 10:52

Stokey yup and 1 more which he previously had a root canal on. I think the NHS like to just whip them all out if 1 is a problem, which is good really, as he was lucky enough to be referred.

Is anyone following Happy's example and getting a sparkly dress for Xmas, if they don't have one already? I got invited to a client party yesterday (not usual for me, woop!) and wondering what's the tipping point to "enough events to need a new dress"? Grin if I can justify it once the boiler's fixed

shopafrolic · 15/11/2016 13:28

Oh I miss the days of Christmas parties...... DH doesn't seem to have things unfortunately.
Stokey I have the same problem on night's out and always default to leather leggings, grey tee, heels and blazer.

kittyhello · 15/11/2016 13:40

Blair hope all goes smoothly with as little pain as possible for dh. I'm with Shop I don't go to work parties anymore, I really miss them, would you like a new sparkly dress? Could you wear it to other parties? If so go for it. Or do you have something already that you could wear? Trying not to enable you too much.

Stokey I have no dressy going out clothes either and aways defer to my dvf Bentley if I have to make an effort. I'm definitely getting good cpw from it.

AdoraBell · 15/11/2016 15:12

Hope DH recovers from that quickly Blair

My 5 things would be -

Straight, but not skinny, Levis
nice underwear
colourful shirts from Hawes and Curtis
ankle boots
Burberry bag, waited decades to buy one and it's all mine 😆

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 15/11/2016 15:16

oh god, FIVE things? i guess they would be: dresses, circle skirts, funky tees, coats of every kind, and cardigans. if i had to sneak in a couple more items they would be dr marten boots and my sparkly topshop flats which i can now wear again that the swelling in my feet has disappeared since ive been on all the vitamins

Hope all goes well for your DH and his teeth blair

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 15/11/2016 16:41

Thanks all. He is napping on the sofa and I am making chicken soup Grin but we didn't realise he can't have hot food for 2 days so he will be having it lukewarm!

kitty I have a dress in mind but I will sit on my hands for now! I would love a DVF bentley, it's such a great going out dress and yours looks amazing on you.

Dreamqueen · 15/11/2016 17:22

Glad that Dh is home & ok Blair Not good about the no hot food in this cold weather though. I love chicken soup, it cures everything.

shopafrolic · 15/11/2016 18:02

Glad he's ok Blair
I've just cooked up a bowl of Amelia Freer's prawn & aubergine curry - healthy and super yummy. Highly recommend.

Drywhitethanks · 15/11/2016 18:38

ER Blair....how many events to justify a new dress Confused that would be one Grin depends how much the dress cost I guess

Now I've sorted out my outfit I thought I'd treat myself to a new "going out" foundation
. Went to Chanel counter where the lovely SA gently removed my foundation if they knew how UN gently I scrub mine off and put on their CC cream, then wafted a blusher brush all over my face Grin nice coverage ....DD said my skin looks "clear".
Have samples of Vitalumiere to try and another one called something like "lift lumiere" which, apparently, is like a face lift in a tube Hmm
Also want to try the YSL touche éclat one Fedup mentioned.
