dry what's your shoe budget? I need a little project to save me from despair today.

I like the Asos cage style. I think the M&S shoes would look good with the blue/grey dress. Have you decided the blue/grey is the one?

AmberNectarine · 09/11/2016 07:22

Blair hope you can go to Macy's now? We may as well try and take something positive from the demise of good judgement.

Merriboo · 09/11/2016 10:31

Morning, Still a ant quite believe what we woke up to 😱
Back I fashion news, I been intending to order the whistles joules parka in navy but the last few days are making me reconsider as I have quite poor circulation and have been cold when out. Mara and anyone with Woolrich parkas - are they worth the investment? And which should I look at? Is there really much difference in warmth compared to other parkas?? Confused

Everyonelovessparkles · 09/11/2016 11:30

Yes a depressing news day, but hopefully blair can salvage something from it.

Looking forward to the MU. Has anyone decided what they're wearing? The forecast is heavy rain, which is a nuisance as not only do i hate going out in the rain but it might impact on my outfit choices.

VeryPunny · 09/11/2016 13:29

Merriboo I am also after a parka and think my current top choice is this one from Barbour It's wool so should be toasty warm but I'm not sure how it would stand up to wet days, and I think I'd prefer it to be a bit longer. Can't quite bring myself to fork out for a Woolrich one though.

Merriboo · 09/11/2016 13:38

Hi VeryPunny I've tried that one in JL, I don't think it will be warm enough for me, even though it's wool, it wasn't as padded as I hoped. Know what u mean about Woolrich prices 😱 But I seem to be suffering with feeling cold more over recent years so I'm wondering whether to take the plunge...

libertydoddle · 09/11/2016 14:45

Some shoe options for Dry

LKB in black to go with the green dress
Whistles caged sandal I think you might want a covered toe though....
Carvela black
Dune black for green dress
Silver Alexander Wang
cheap and cheerful strappy closed toes silver sadly not leather

shopafrolic · 09/11/2016 17:58

Love those LKB and the carvela for you Dry

FedupNagging · 09/11/2016 18:11

Not so keen on the M&S shoes for a smart do Dry but do like the asos ones. A good selection for your delectation from Lib, the Whistles and Carvela are fab styles.

I'm not entirely sure what I'll be wearing on Sat but will probably be skinnies and navy 70's inspired blouse wellies and mac.

I bought a star jumper the other day but can't find a picture to show you all. Its oversize, grey with long batwing sleeves and a huge gold and silver star, cheap and cheerful from Laetitia Mem (no I'd not heard of them either). Anyway am wearing it today with s/s white shirt underneath, black skinnies and metallic boots - love it!

VeryPunny · 09/11/2016 19:11

Merriboo Oh that's a shame. I do know what you mean about the cold though - my long down coat is too big now, and I'm a bit bored of it. Was hoping a decent parka would be warm enough for winter here.

Everyonelovessparkles · 09/11/2016 19:23

I like the carvela shoes lib linked. Boden have got some in a similarish style to those wang shoes but in gold that might look good with the green dress gold party shoes

shopafrolic · 09/11/2016 19:36

Have a look at Parka London. They do lush parkas with faux fur removeable liners....

shopafrolic · 09/11/2016 19:37

Parka London

AmberNectarine · 09/11/2016 20:48

No idea what I'll wear on Saturday - had ordered something from J Crew and was hoping that might arrive but it's still in the US five days later. Anyone would think they had more important things to worry about over there!

OOTD was pink cashmere crew neck (boden), charcoal skinny trousers (uniqlo), snake print ankle boots (R&B), black cashmere coat (Calvin Klein), white furry stole (random shop) and black sequin beret (primark).

The beret I have had for about a decade and it got loads of compliments today. Think it was all of a fiver - funny.

maradesbois · 09/11/2016 20:58

Evening,

Yes, a depressing day indeed, am glad to come on here for some respite.

Merriboo my woolrich parka is amazingly warm but must admit that style came first for me. Love the cut, fabric and lack of obvious branding you get on some. They are so expensive, mine was a Christmas gift from dh last year and think I will be wearing it for many winters to come. Sounds like you really feel the cold, more than me. The Barbour one that VeryPunny (welcome btw VP Smile) linked is lovely and stylish but if not warm enough for you think you should get a technical one. Don't know the brand Shop linked but looks v good and may be worth a try?

Is anyone watching The Missing series 2? So far fetched but am gripped!

Dry afraid I'm completely lost with all these dresses and shoes Grin. Did you not keep the lovely Whistles burgundy one or are we talking about a different occasion now? Fwiw I don't like the M&S bicolour ones but like the shape in the single colour options. Was also thinking that the office velvet Mary Janes that QueenC has would look great on you too. A good edit from lib there too.

shopafrolic · 09/11/2016 21:17

We're watching The Missing Mara and enjoying it
Looks as though DF has fluid back on his lungs so may well be back in hospital tomorrow. I am still aiming to be at the MU but my time may get cut a bit short.
Drove all the way to oxfordshire to return my Dubarry Galway boots. Long story short I had ordered the correct size but they had labelled them incorrectly so I have come away with a replacement pair in the size that I originally ordered. Have emailed their CS to ask for compensation for the 3.5 hour round trip and fuel costs. Not impressed.

FedupNagging · 09/11/2016 21:34

Thought I'd do another quick roundup of those attending on Sat:
Fedup
Mara
Blair
Dream
Dry
Everyone
Shop
Amber
Viva
Marsha
Kitty
Topaz
Lib (coming later)
Stokey Maybe
Justa Maybe

Stokey and Justa really hope you can make it. I confirmed table number today which includes you both.

Now the weather has turned mega cold, I've realised I need at least one chunky longer length polo neck so will have a quick look before the MU. There are a couple of possibilities in &OS and MD although I suspect they will be far too long like the Cos one I tried ages ago.

Love this colour also very easy to shrink
And this from &os
All sparkly - really like this except the neckline.
Also fancy a Cream polo neck - so long as i remember not to eat chocolate, marmite or tomato soup whilst wearing it Grin

That's a great crowd! I am (of course) out the night before, so expect me to skulk in with a hangover.

Drywhitethanks · 09/11/2016 22:53

Fsorry, popping in late after leaving my shoe question hanging.....Liberty will checkout your links, thanks so much.
Mara the Whistles burgundy has gone back. Loved it a lot, was sad to let it go, but felt it wasn't party enough and predictably me.

I've had a disaster with the Reiss grey/blue delivery. DH w supposed to be home to take delivery, but, because of the snow here was stranded in London, and it's all become complicated and he won't be home until Friday.......I can only say this here, because you'll all understand, but I'm sadder about not having the dress than not seeing DH for 3 days Hmm

Sorry to bore you, but it's between the grey/blue Reiss dress and the dark green.
Hang on ....ill link

Drywhitethanks · 09/11/2016 22:56

green with black shoes or

Drywhitethanks · 09/11/2016 23:00

slate grey with silver shoes.....when I get hold of it

Dreamqueen · 10/11/2016 06:51

I've ordered 2 M&S beauty Calendars. I took one to my sister last year & she was like a child opening the daily boxes. Funny how people who now live abroad get so excited about M&S. It's one of her first stops when she visits.

No idea what to wear to MU. I feel the cold but always then get too hot in restaurants if I'm in cashmere or thick stuff, on the other hand I don't want to freeze on the train. I'm not really a winter clothes person. I seem to lose interest until the spring so have a very small winter wardrobe.

looking forward to seeing you all again. Like Amber I am also out the night before. Wine Wine Wine

VeryPunny · 10/11/2016 07:39

shop oooh, Parka London have some serious contenders - am in town today so will mooch into JL and see if they carry stock.

I've ordered the M&S beauty calendar (baaaaaa!) so we'll see what that's like. I needed some bits for DS and also bought a black pleated cami top and some tuxedo trousers. Will see what they are like when they turn up.

Drywhite love the slate grey!

shopafrolic · 10/11/2016 10:15

VeryPunny sign up to their website and they send you a decent discount code so if you find one you like i'd suggest ordering direct

libertydoddle · 10/11/2016 12:53

I am still debating a M&S calendar. I loved last year's one but am trying to watch what I spend and stick to a budget over Christmas and there are sooooo many things I want. Started Christmas shopping yesterday. Keep getting surges of feeling tearful as it's hit me that with our relocation plans this will be our last northern hemisphere Christmas Sad.

For once I am completely unconcerned about MU outfit as i'll be arriving late and priority really is dressing comfortably for the 8 hours of tutorials / workshops I have beforehand! And most of you will be too merry to even notice by the time I arrive! Grin
