Lovely to see you back Lara. You are so right about online shoe-shopping. Shop that is extra annoying!

I really like that jacket for your DS mara.

I fully intend to wear whatever new knee-high boots I end up over skinny jeans! I like the thought of them being a classic.

Fingers crossed for the mu justa.

Drywhitethanks · 07/11/2016 20:57

Stopped wearing knee length boots with skinnies ages ago...not because I'm 'bang on trend' Hmm, but because I think my legs look longer with ankle boots with a heel .

Larastheme · 07/11/2016 21:42

Thank you all for the warm welcome, this place is just like cheers where everybody knows your name, and they are always glad you came, Smile

back to the skinnies &boots debate . I will admit that I don't wear skinnies much lately, I've bought a pair of CE kick flare , they look good, its a nice easy fit,and really feels current and very "in the moment" , most importantly it looks great with loafers amd block heels, I don't fallow trends , but I felt I really needed a new fresh thing to try, and asthetically it works for me, but I'm sure I will need to put on skinnies and tall boots once it gets colder there is no question about it,

I'm just curious about the whole vetements denim look, what do you all think of it? here ,loads of other denim makers are copying it,frame denim for one, but I think its very difficult to pull off, I'm sure I will look tragic wearing them,

shopafrolic · 07/11/2016 22:50

Super difficult to pull off. Too much going on I think. I have customised a few pairs of skinnies recently and fancy cutting them a little higher at the front than at the back (at the ankle). I think styles like that are only designed for the v young (much like dying hair grey). I'm happy to leave that one to someone else.
Where in the world are you know Lara? I sent you a PM BTW.

shop you probably could pull the vetements denim look off. It's definitely a look that needs long legs.

Lara I tried in some cropped kick flares in Whistles recently. I quite liked them but they made my legs look very short which isn't good when there is a rather large bottom perched on top Grin

So cold today! Is it snowing with the Scottish / Northern voguettes? Feels like it could even snow in London. Am well wrapped up today!

AmberNectarine · 08/11/2016 08:28

Bloody Baltic where I am - nearly slipped on some ice just now! Wearing 9cm heels probably not the most strategic move in retrospect!

OOTD is studded &OS ankles boots, leather midi pencil skirt, black merino polo neck with Gucci tiger bow collar thing over it, black cashmere coat and SL leopard bag and leopard beret to offset all the black.

AmberNectarine · 08/11/2016 08:28

And welcome back Lara!

FedupNagging · 08/11/2016 09:22

Time to unearth the duvet coat and bobble hat to walk the dog I think.

Lara I have some flares and totally agree how easy they are to wear but only really wear my Ash jordy's with them as find them difficult to style footwear wise. I think I'll have a go with loafers to see how that looks. The only block heels I have are sandals and it's far too cold for those atm.

Yes I agree with Lib that you could do the vetements look Shop. I keep trying culottes/cropped flares etc but have yet to find a pair that don't make me look dumpy frowns at short legs

Amber your ootd sounds very stylish.

Amber sounds lovely - where is the skirt from?

This thread has reminded me that my fingerless gloves are in intensive care in the hot press after I spilled a can of Coke on them last week. Hoping they'll recover, as they were my nice Brora ones too.

Cowering under a blanket scarf in my office, which is freezing today.

Stokey · 08/11/2016 10:31

Welcome back Lara, we missed your great links
I wore my cropped denim flares a lot in the summer - before it got hot - but although they were amazingly comfy, they did make me look a bit dumpy without heels. Think they do work better with long legs.

I feel skinnies and knee length boots is a bit over tbh. OTK or ankle boots seem to work better, or knee length with midi skirt?

I'm wearing my new Kenzo/H&M red tiger print leggings . They're wool so really warm, with a black polo and chunky ribbed black v-neck. I do look like a throwback to Camden market circa 1990 but it's a look I'm very comfortable with.

Hope you can make the MU Justa, I haven't broached with DH yet.

shopafrolic · 08/11/2016 10:42

If I lived in London I might get away with it but not in this village Grin
So cold here, am off to Pilates - freezing in my gym gear.
No idea what to wear for MU.

maradesbois · 08/11/2016 11:51

Morning!

Lara SmileSmileSmile so good to hear from you, the thread has really missed your take on all things fashion. Hope that life is treating you well and that you are feeling settled wherever you are living now.

Although not for me I think vetements jeans are fab, although the stratospheric price tag cannot be justified they are a real feat of engineering when seen irl, different pairs of old Levi's reassembled. Have a tall skinny friend who is an east London creative (not our own lovely MarshaB Wink) who is a denim aficionado and wears them well with chunky ankle boots and the leather acne aviator jacket. Had a look at frame ones on nap and thought they looked awful.

Stokey forgot to congratulate you on getting your hands on the h&m kenzo, outfit sounds fab and very you. Nothing wrong with reliving the 90s!

Shop Grin at 'not in this village'. Brings back memories of tottering around in my red or dead platforms aged about 13, being laughed at by local kids and thinking what a shame for them they just don't get it Grin.

Amber all black with accents of leopard sounds good.

Thanks for kids parka feedback, I think it is cute and 30% discount in the us for thanksgiving which makes it lots cheaper than here despite the shocking exchange rate. Dh seems to have gone conveniently awol though.

Larastheme · 08/11/2016 13:43

Oh yes, shop and marsha are perfect for that sort of denim, a close friend of mine works for a retailor that stocks them, and she says they only receive like one of each size, and sells out really qiuck, but she says they are very stiff and hard to move around in,

stokey I agree, the kick flares look better with heels, mine are like these, but in grey the flares are not that exaggerated, and they can be worn with flats,
I must have tried over 8 pairs of kick flares, some made my legs look enormous ,some gave me a 90s suburban mum look, but I've finally found these to be perfect, wish they had another colour in stock.

Larastheme · 08/11/2016 14:06

Another AW purchase I'm liking is this tie high neck blouse, I didn't want to spend that much on a blouse, but I honestly didnt find a better one,and after consulting with linus ,I was sold, its gorgeous beyond words, and these, but in darker burgundy, Have already worn them loads and they look great with the forest green blouse and grey relaxed flare jeans with an oversized beige/sand cashmere cardigan,my own version of a very subdued 70s/early 80s lok.

AmberNectarine · 08/11/2016 14:15

Love the pumps Lara, have been considering those for work.

shopafrolic · 08/11/2016 14:34

Lara that Chloe blouse is to die for

kittyhello · 08/11/2016 16:28

Gorgeous blouse Lara the colour is my perfect shade of green.

Everyonelovessparkles · 08/11/2016 16:57

Gorgeous blouse and pumps lara.

amber we are wearing similar leather skirt / black polo outfits today! Though I expect you would win in a 'who wore it better' comparison! Grin

AmberNectarine · 08/11/2016 19:49

Very skirt is ASOS actually. Hopes weren't high but it is surprisingly nice!

Work Xmas party announced as black tie. Have the itch but I know I have at least 20 dresses I could wear, so trying to behave!

Drywhitethanks · 08/11/2016 21:00

Love the colour of that blouse lara

Shop I love that phrase "not in this village" Grin funny.

Very cold here....heatech firmly on.....bracing myself for a white. Out when I wake up, 5-10cm forecast here.......will test my new car I guess I live at the bottom of a big hill-

So my room is full of packages.....so far I have received 3 pairs of shoes and 2 dresses, next dress comes tomorrow. All these possible returns are a bit stressful Hmm

Drywhitethanks · 08/11/2016 21:04

One of the pairs possibly to go with Reiss grey/blue dress are these.......thoughts?

shopafrolic · 08/11/2016 21:13

Not loving those Dry - sorry

Drywhitethanks · 08/11/2016 21:17
