Happy birthday Viva CakeWine

Adora great jacket, looks lovely and toasty.

I too am nursing a prolonged hangover from a fizz and fireworks party last night. No more drinking for me until next weekend of course.

VivaVegas · 06/11/2016 19:33

Thanks for the birthday wishes, out last night and then lunch today so feeling full and a tad jaded. Although one wine down already with dinner tonight!
I only tend to drink at weekends and occasionally on a Thursday night if it's been a very bad week! I've laid off it quite a lot lately and have noticeably dropped a few lbs as a result as the other downside for me is the snacking that goes with it!

shopafrolic · 06/11/2016 19:46

Claudia W's dress on the Strictly results show tonight is all kinds of fabulous.

Drywhitethanks · 06/11/2016 22:46

Happy birthday Viva

Everyone the grey/blue Reiss dress comes Wednesday. It will be decision day.

QueenC I love that VW dress.....think it would be funny to wear her after the VWgate of a few years ago Grin

libertydoddle · 07/11/2016 11:46

I have my lovely Brora cashmere fingerless mittens on today. So cold!!!

Dry yes VW dress would be funny in light of previous presentgate incident Smile

libertydoddle · 07/11/2016 11:51

Forgot I have a v important fashion question!!

Are knee high boots over skinnies over? I was doing a try on this weekend and really liked my LKB brown riding boots from last year over indigo skinnies. But it's not a look I've seen much recently - it's all ankle boots or OTK. Views please.

Everyonelovessparkles · 07/11/2016 12:20

I hope that knee boots over skinnier isn't over lib , as I was planning that look once it got a bit colder! Maybe now that the weather has turned, it might be more popular??

maradesbois · 07/11/2016 12:23

Hello!

Have been mia like Kitty, result of a very long half term jam packed with activities, visits and visitors. Loads of fun but need to get back to normality. Dreading weighing in at sw later but needs must.

Thanks for mu details fedup, I can't wait!!

Topaz great news that you can make it, look forward to catching up. And happy birthday!

Stokey nooo to talk of not coming!

First day of woolrich parka for me, it is so bloody cold. Have just done a big cashmere hand washing session. Your Brora gloves sound nice and toasty lib. Regarding boots over skinnies would say that knee high boots had a lull but back again without being otm fashionable, very now is otk, block heel ankle boots, velvet and embellished either with studs or embroidery. I still lust after the hermès jumping boots, think riding boots will always be around and still look good over skinnies.

Love the sparkly dress Happy

maradesbois · 07/11/2016 12:26

Another very important fashion question, do you like this parka? I want dh who is in the us to get it for ds but he (dh) hates it (although will buy if I tell him he has to!).

kittyhello · 07/11/2016 13:14

I love it Mara ds will be very toasty indeed.

AmberNectarine · 07/11/2016 13:37

I too have my cashmere wrist warmers in service today (though mine are Johnstons of Elgin).

I wear OTKs over skinnies so I'm sure knee highs are acceptable!

QueenCobalt · 07/11/2016 14:20

Hi all, just popping in quickly.
mara nothing wrong with that coat especially if ds will like it.
lib like you I fear knee highs/skinny combo is over but I did wear a few times last year just because it's so much warmer than ankle boots!! I think it's a classic look rather than on trend nowadays.
Happy birthday for yesterday viva

AmberNectarine · 07/11/2016 14:27

My DS had a camo coat much like that last year mara - I think it's lovely!

libertydoddle · 07/11/2016 15:27

Lovely coat mara. Lucky DS will be v toasty.

Thanks for all the skinnies/boots feedback. Actually the look is out today in London probably because it's so cold so I shall wear with pride! (Need the confirmation of the crowd baa) Grin

Larastheme · 07/11/2016 15:42

A belated happy birthday to shop and queen, viva Cake,

I can't even remember the last time I was here .life has been crazy last few months .

I've skimmed through the last few pages of the thread, ,so forgive me ,if I miss anyone, not intentional Smile,

dry, I think the second dress, the one shop picked is just perfect for you,

berince, I've been to M&S yes i finally live somehere with an M&S but most importantly an m&s foodhall to see the alexa archive ,and yes it's more her than anything else, some of the stuff look good, I just love the description of the coat, "inspired by a 90s children's coat, Grin, thats Alexa's fashion sense alright,

shop oh I agree with just and stokey those bella Freud sweaters are démodé. Agree the whole phrase thing is getting old or maybe I'm getting old and cynical Wink.

I've seen many geometric intarsia , fair isle ,Nordic sweaters lately, but dont know if they are your thing? I'm on the look out for one, And After loving Mati ventrillon infamous sweaters worn by karl's squad of hot male models, at the chanel metiers d art show in Rome last year, I was happy to find them on her website but then disappointed on how the fit looked, realised that they look better on Sebastian and the rest, , than it would look on meGrin, so the hunt continues,

liberty that's really funny , poor delivery guy! I have zero luck with the outnet too, my last order was so terrible, unfinished sewing and loose threads,

marsha love your scarf, looks very luxe,

I've been away from the uk for so long, at first I didn't even know what strictly audience is Shock,

Topaz, shoes shopping via Internet is a nightmare, not to mention a total pita waste of time,

liberty, I don't know! I see skinnies with knee boots as one of those things that never go out of style, but they are becoming less and less popular, but thats just because the trend now days are straight cropped legs and as soon as a look becomes hot, everyone is talking/copying, but it doesn't mean its outdated, it means we have more options to dress!

But to my horror I see leggings! Lots of leggings out on the streets, its nauseating.

mara I'm with your DH on the coat! I bet you can find a better coat at this price range,

Hope ,kitty, fedup, one, amber, and everyone else on here are fine?

Back later.

shopafrolic · 07/11/2016 17:02

Lara how lovely to check in and see you are back! I don't think the whole Nordic thing is for me but a geometric intarsia could be - will start the search.
So cold today.
The new Dubarry galway boots that DH ordered for me (for dog walking) in black are too small! Despite being the same size as my pair from five years ago which fit perfectly. So I now need to go to the Dubarry store in oxfordshire (a 3 hour round trip) to exchange as they won't cover the cost of returns and insured postage is ££££.
I have my DKNY monkey sweatshirt on again today - always makes me smile Marsha
I think classic knee high boots are fine still - I'll be wearing my LKB ones later in the year.

libertydoddle · 07/11/2016 17:16

Yay!!! Lara's back. Good to see you Smile

FedupNagging · 07/11/2016 17:42

Hey Lara welcome back Smile

It sounds like everyone had a good weekend. After being out on Friday and then dinner party on Sat, I spent yesterday super glued to the sofa carb loading and vowing not to drink EVER again

Belated happy birthdays to Viva and Topaz (Viva did you get my pm?)

Mara I love that little parka - definitely get your dh to purchase. My 5yo dgs would love it.

Your sheepskin jacket looks so cosy Adora - it's freezing today so hope you wore it. It was trying to snow here this morning Shock

Knee boots with skinnies is a look I really like but don't wear often for that very reason Lib but now a mnver has decreed it's a 'classic' look, I might just wear it more often.

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 07/11/2016 18:22

Mara I meant to say I would buy that for my DS

Drywhitethanks · 07/11/2016 18:48

Gosh I do love this thread!
Lara great to have you back

justasecond · 07/11/2016 20:04

welcome back lara we missed you!
mara that coat is lovely, more importantly will your ds wear it? mine who is almost 6 is a complete fusspot and will only wear things he chooses himself!
lib There is still a lot of boots over jeans my way. I think its now a classic look. More importantly I think the jeans need to fit close to make it look good. See so many Dick Wittingtons round these parts!
Potentially bad news on the mu front. Mil is threatening to visit this weekend. She is a very difficult spoilt woman and all hell will break loose if I tell her I will be out saturday. Will have to wait and see what she decides. Keep your fingers crossed everyone.

justasecond · 07/11/2016 20:08

forgot to wish viva happy birthday Cake Wine

MarshaBrady · 07/11/2016 20:08

Lara you're back, fabulous! We've missed you

MarshaBrady · 07/11/2016 20:08

Justa fingers crossed you can make it

kittyhello · 07/11/2016 20:40
