Summertime, and the livin' is easy...some of us are basking on beaches, others are managing the madness that is school's out but work goes on...either way we want to look chic in the heat while it lasts

Come tell us what you are wearing on these balmy days...it's friendly here Smile

Thank you shop and bernice for the kind welcome back. I WILL try and keep up as this is the third time I've rejoined this thread in a couple of years and do love reading you all.
Its just that sometimes my work/life balance gets screwed up with the frequent work travel.
Its honestly been blissful not having to travel with work for the last 2 odd months I feel so much better for it.
My big hope is that I'll never go back to previous years' crazy schedules, I can handle 50% of my time away but more than that and it starts seriously interfering with my well being.
Having said all that next week it's Rome, but staying bang in the centre which should be good, and meeting up with old boarding school friend for dinner, haven't seen each other since both left 30odd years ago. Thank God for social media otherwise we'd have trouble recognizing each other! Shock

SoyYo · 13/09/2016 21:03

J Crew jeans I still don't get sizing for UK 12 should I order 30, 31 or 32" waist? Anyone who can help? Confused

libertydoddle · 13/09/2016 21:22

Sorry SoyYo I have no idea about J-Crew jeans sizing.

Shop Flowers

HappyGirlNow · 13/09/2016 21:35

Thanks all Grin

everyone of course lol

soyo - I have the black ligne-Y YSL clutch and I have a nice gold chain I use with it, I'll probably do the same with this clutch most of the time.

amber I really swithered between black and burgundy but can see me ordering the burgundy too..IF I love the black in real life as I don't know yet as once again it's not been delivered. I've just emailed NAP going nuts. Seriously. Was meant to come nominated day yesterday!!!

Longislandicetee · 13/09/2016 21:47

Hi SoyYo, J Crew denim sizing closely matches your waist size. I have a 25.5" waist and wear 26 in J Crew. Those are slightly loose on the waist for me (which is what I prefer) but the size 25s are a bit snug. I am a UK size 6. I think if you're a uk 12 then you must have either a 29" or 30" waist and so that's the size you would get.

SoyYo · 14/09/2016 08:52

Thank you Blingy that's really helpful!
Happy makes sense!
shop sorry to hear of your DF struggle, its crap when our DPs get frail and ill. Take care of yourself

Dreamqueen · 14/09/2016 09:05

Shop Flowers thinking of you & admiring how you manage to keep on top of everything.

Thanks Amber I'll try a 4 in them. Finger is hovering over the buy button. (ha ha I said about 3 posts ago that I wasn't going to buy anything soon)

Thanks Everyone We had a very nice lunch with wine at Cafe Rouge & I handed the dog back to her having looked after him for 3 weeks. Hoese feels a bit empty today.

Yesterdays wine is theoretically the last alcohol for 2 weeks. DP wants to do some crazy diet that his friend gave him the leaflet for & very stupidly i said I'd do it with him. I was possibly tipsy when I agreed because having read it, its doable but incredibly boring.

Love those bags Happy I have a YSL clutch that converts with a gold chain. I've had it for at least 15 years & it's still going strong.

Everyonelovessparkles · 14/09/2016 09:23

Thinking of you shop. Flowers

Good luck with the diet dream. At least 2 weeks isn't tooooo long and it might make you think about making small changes to your everyday diet afterwards??

bernice I saw these leopard ballet pumps in John Lewis, not pointy but more delicate than the m&s ones. I'm now torn as to which to try. John lewis or m&s unless anyone has seen anything else??

libertydoddle · 14/09/2016 16:43

I prefer the M&S ones everyone and they have a bit of leather in them.

Channeling QueenC's wear the good stuff vibe today - I am working from home and wearing a Uniqlo (where else!!) marine blue sleeveless dress. It's the sort of thing I think of as 'office wear' but actually it's not that worky and is very comfortable while making me look more put together. Wearing it with a gorgeous blue, bronze and orange statement necklace the lovely One gave me ages ago and R&B sandals. Used this Zara bag on the school run instead of just carrying my phone.

I've realised that I default into trackies etc at home and then feel frumpy and think I have no clothes, when in fact I have LOADS and just don't wear what I have enough.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 14/09/2016 16:59

oh, i'd forgotten about that necklace lib but i know exactly which one you mean now you've said about it, i'm glad it's getting some love and use, it was always somethign i liked but i never wore Smile

the clear out of the flat continues. we are just having a tea break and then going back to it again before dinner

MarshaBrady · 14/09/2016 20:56

Evening!

Welcome back SoYo

Second day at work. Really enjoying it so far! Can't believe I may have found my natural place of work. -fingers crossed, yet to show any of my thinking

Probably need some new clothes though. I was thinking about the Matches code when it comes through, loathe to spend fp on anything.

libertydoddle · 14/09/2016 20:59

I have my eye on a couple of things in Matches too Marsha. I never get the code though Sad always have to rely on people sharing them.

Good to hear that work environment seems right for you.

OP posts:
libertydoddle · 14/09/2016 21:00

What sort of things do you want for work Marsha? Give us some pointers to help you out.

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 14/09/2016 21:01

Sharing's caring Lib Grin

I'm not sure what I want yet, but I know that my wardrobe is very limited as they dress up a bit more at the new place.

MarshaBrady · 14/09/2016 21:01

xpost

I think I need a dress. But that may be due to this glorious weather

MarshaBrady · 14/09/2016 21:02

Easy to wear, smart enough, to the knee, but not too corporate, so no Roland Mouret type styling

I could do with some more trousers and maybe a skirt. Once you can't do skinnies every day it gets much tougher, esp if not a really corporate place

libertydoddle · 14/09/2016 21:05

Lots of Theory stuff on the Outnet Marsha - what about something like these trousers. Good with a plain t and one of your Marant jackets?

OP posts:
libertydoddle · 14/09/2016 21:08

This dress is nice black might be a bit harsh for you for day wear but 30% extra off too!!

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 14/09/2016 21:09

Oh yes good call on the outnet, love those but yes can't do black Sad

30% off sounds good will have a look around

kittyhello · 14/09/2016 21:28

Lovely to see you back on here Marsha

Waves hello to Soyo

Love the bags Happy

Flowers Shop

Following on from Blingy's sage advice to Queen I wore my Boden ruched dress for the sr and it felt good to break from the usual. I need to wear my shirts more and not always go for tee shirts. In fact I want to wear more shirts and cut back on tee shirts for a more grown up look.

Drywhitethanks · 14/09/2016 22:06

Just lost epic post....bother bloody wifi. usual them lungs though

Drywhitethanks · 14/09/2016 22:07

"usual ramblings though"

Should really be "usual incomprehensible ramblings" Grin

FedupNagging · 14/09/2016 22:09

Gorgeous YSL bags Happy - love the tasselled leather one in the burgundy colourway.

Stokey, did you get shopping? Hope you came home with a mahoosive haul!

Really pleased you're loving your job Marsha; guess you now need to rethink your work wardrobe especially if you dont want to wear skinnies. How about this dress?
or wide legged trousers with a shirt and flats?

Everyone I saw these loafers in TS the other day if they're any good. Have also just noticed these ballet flats.

anyone? Amber? Grin

I forgot to mention ages ago that I saw the Dune rockstud dupes irl and they're pretty fab - can't remember who asked. Some gorgoeus colours but selling out fast.

FedupNagging · 14/09/2016 22:11

I am organising the next MU - for our collective big birthdays, and hopefully Mara will book somewhere new when we have numbers, so who can make Saturday 12th November? Wine Wine Wine

libertydoddle · 14/09/2016 22:27

Me! Can't wait Smile. Thanks fedup
