Summertime, and the livin' is easy...some of us are basking on beaches, others are managing the madness that is school's out but work goes on...either way we want to look chic in the heat while it lasts

Come tell us what you are wearing on these balmy days...it's friendly here Smile

soy yes, I'm queenc/cardigan!

When I finally got dressed today ( I stayed in my sports kit to do housework) I took heed of blingys advice and wore my brand new Velvet blouse. I'd been saving it for a special occasion Hmm but thought, sod it and wore it.

Everyonelovessparkles · 12/09/2016 17:20

soy glad the dress worked for you.

lib did you feel good in your blouse? It's always nice wearing something special.

libertydoddle · 12/09/2016 17:54

Nice Monsoon denim dress Everyone. I'll have to keep looking as I really want one in very dark denim like the Hobbs one.

Welcome back SoyYo Smile. Well done on the weight loss. Glad the Boden dress worked out for you. Lovely Ines jacket too, the shirt does look like it would potentially swamp anyone with a smaller frame - I'm a solid 12 on top but have relatively narrow shoulders and find oversized things can be tricky.

Well done on breaking out the Velvet blouse QueenC.

Another long working day for me, am shattered now - going to log off, have a proper evening off, maybe even a bath with my lovely Mio 'yoga' bath stuff and get to bed early.

QueenC I'm sure that new blouse gave you a confident boost, totally agree with blingy's advice too.
everyone thanks, hope you find the denim dress/shape to suit you, I am totally surprised tbh as I ordered not expecting much and really thinking I would look like a complete frump in it, but no...who knew? BTW I am not really a "dress" person and think trousers suit me best, but I keep trying so maybe that shape suits me and I didn't know it...a good thing to remember that sometimes we think we know what suits us but always worth trying a different style/fabric/colour with an open mind.

I cannot remember who mentioned the Vogue documentary upthread but yes to the comments, I thought the story of the fashion editor and Testino was really quite moving, and yes to K.Moss looking stunning I cannot understand people on MN thread when they comment she looks haggard and old...it was also eye opening in terms of the constant stress they live under but also they are quite honest. I thought the Vogue editor was pretty good tbh and not at all intimidating for a high powered boss...I think A.Wintour in the next episode will be far more scary, I know she has legendary style but I think she looks so unapproachable and a bit of a control freak...

Everyonelovessparkles · 12/09/2016 18:06

Sorry meant queen and the velvet blouse Blush.

Everyonelovessparkles · 12/09/2016 19:41

lib Boden have these two in dark denim tunic style or button through

libertydoddle · 12/09/2016 20:37

Thanks everyone. They both look good. Will try and report back Smile

Evening all. Broken woman post anniversary weekend! DH bought me this bag as a gift, plus a very generous donation to my A/W wardrobe fund. Good man.

Last free Monday before going up to 4 days a week - woke up in a lovely hotel in Chelsea before pottering on the Kings Road. Could have been worse!

Wore my newly acquired gold reebok classics most of the weekend. Love the silver ones so much I know these will achieve good CPW! There was a fashion calamity though, turns out I am allergic to the Sephora eyeshadow I bought in Paris. My eyes were in agony so I had to take my lenses out and had no glasses with me. I am blind as a bat and fell over, ripping a hole in the knee of my leather leggings. They have been repaired and it's not that noticeable, but it's still sad times. May get a new pair!

Hope you all had lovely weekends - Blair and I nearly crossed paths but logistics were too tricky (and to be honest, I was barely lucid!)

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 12/09/2016 22:54

ouch for your poor eyes and for the leggings too Amber i hope your allergy to it has calmed down now

the first bag of clothes im giving away is being picked up tomorrow. i feel really weird about it. i know im doing a nice thing by giving them to my friend, i know they will help her out a lot and i know, I absolutely KNOW i don't need them and haven't got space for them but it still feels weird. i didn't realise i had such a strong attachment to them even though a lot of them i havent worn in a long time. ahhh im sure the weird will pass once they are gone and not in my face all the time

libertydoddle · 13/09/2016 07:56

That does sound like a calamitous evening Amber. Nice bag - did DH pick it himself?

One you will be fine, honestly you won't even remember those clothes, focus on the positives, helping a friend and freeing up all that space for yourself. win, win!!

30 degrees here today Shock, might need to dig out my shorts. WFH, going to wash pillows, perfect day for getting them dry it's the little things

Dreamqueen · 13/09/2016 08:08

Lovely bag Amber sounds like a great weekend!
I quite fancey some gold trainers too. (goes off to look at reebok classics)

I'm having a day in town & lunch with DIL (must remember my new 'I don't need any A/W clothes mantra)

Dreamqueen · 13/09/2016 08:10

posted too soon. Amber are they true to size please? Found them & about to buy!!! :)

FedupNagging · 13/09/2016 08:30

Fab bag Amber - loving the colour.

Waves to SoYo - was wondering where you'd got to; well done on the weightloss. Like you I returned my entire Boden order last week. Nice Ines jacket though.

So I have tried on some more jumpsuits
Warehouse crotch too long
White stuff dungarees - very flattering but didn't look right - possibly because I'm either too old not 20 and skinny or because I wore them the first time around in the 80's! Also tried a couple in M&S which were not quite right either.

So, I think I'll scrap the jumpsuit/pinafore idea and look at denim dresses.

Having had a summer of over indulgence I'm going to try and shed a few lbs before I make another purchase. I do need to squeeze into a ball gown on saturday so keeping off the junk & alcohol for the rest of the week!

AmberNectarine · 13/09/2016 09:01

Dream yes I'd say they do, on the roomy side, if anything.

Lib we'd seen it in Sicily and he remembered it and bought it in the Champs Elysses store. I'm enjoying it brightening up my outfits.

shopafrolic · 13/09/2016 09:38

Amber is it bad that I am more worried about your leggings than your eyes? Grin

BerniceBobsHerHair · 13/09/2016 10:48

I was barely lucid Grin Grin

Glad you had a good time Amber despite the calamities. Cute bag.

Welcome back SoyYo. I have that Boden black top - haven't washed it yet but I like it, didn't think the material was cheap either - isn't it viscose wool? (which I love for some reason). I did have similar a while ago and it washed fine but did fall prey to moths Sad

Shame about the dungas / jumpsuit Fedup. I do recommend the Hush one (I tried it last AW) but not sure about length as I found it a good fit and I am 5'7". I think it is a bit more feminine in style than the boiler suit ones, which can be very unforgiving. It is on my wishlist in the dark green.

How about a pinafore dress? Also Baukjen has some jumpsuits that look good. Sounds like you need somewhere that does petite sizing though, to avoid the low crotch.

Everyonelovessparkles · 13/09/2016 11:09

Nice bag amber. Glad you had a good weekend but shame about your eyes and your leggings.

Well done one, you are making good progress on sorting out your clothes. You won't have anything left soon. Grin

dream have a nice day with your DIL.

fedup there are quite a lot of denim dresses out there in varying styles so hopefully you will find one that suits you. I was on the search for one so there are quite a few links up thread to various styles.

SoyYo · 13/09/2016 12:04

Thanks Fedup for remembering me and the welcome back Smile actually I am keeping the denim dress, I ordered on a whim thinking it would probably be super frumpy on me with my big norks but as said before it fits like a glove and is a keeper. With the nice weather we are having I will wear this month for sure and will be useful next spring too.
Ines shirt is going back though, HUGE ...I do recommend the Boden silk shirts (with tiny spots, I have navy blue and khaki) a good price on the sale and useful for work.
I like the khaki jumpsuit!

Next I am after the Ines Chester coat in dark grey, not yet on sale but supposed to come soon. Did anyone think the Clarks monk shoes I linked above totally hideous as an alternative to brogues?

Bernice thanks for advice on black top, it does look good on and useful basic, for the price I will keep and hope itchiness doesn't put me off wearing it often

One I am in awe of your cull! Must do the same wardrobe(s) practically groaning and lot is now too big for me. Unfortunately I can't think of any friends my stuff would suit, so will have to be Oxfam, etc but I did read somewhere there is a charity that helps women returning to work and ask for donations, so they would be good recipients for my Hobbs work suits, etc...I just have to get over the procrastination that paralises me and get on with it.

amber lovely bag, great colour your DH has amazing memory!
My DH asked me last weekend what it is that I would really like for our 25th wedding anniversary next Feb. I think it will be some jewellery so interested to hear blingy's (or anyone's) ideas. I do have a lot of inherited jewellery from my DM (she was heavily into bling) and DH has bought me some nice things in the past, so I am mulling it over as I would like it to be something I could wear daily and timeless...

AmberNectarine · 13/09/2016 13:14

SoyYo before you give him too much credit we were in Sicily less than a week before Paris, so he only had to remember for about 5 days!

shop oh god, so was I! My eyes will eventually heal themselves!

Quiet week socially this week, if not professionally - not out again until Saturday night, which will be refreshing/necessary.

HappyGirlNow · 13/09/2016 14:10

Afternoon all!

So much to catch up on.. Skimmed the pages!

Been soooo busy, our businesses is going nuts and I am so busy - busier than when I worked for someone else but it feels less like actual work Grin Also nearing the end of a 3 month planning battle with our neighbour but outcome is looking promising thank goodness.

We just got back from a week in Rhodes last week - terrible first half of it as one of our wee dogs (who was at home) became seriously ill and I thought we were going to lose her but she started picking up halfway through the holiday thank goodness. She had five nights in vets on a drip, I was so worried!

Like the Furla bag amber

Really like that khaki jumpsuit too fedup - I ordered this and love it in real life but unusually for Zara it's too short to the crotch rah

I just got this YSL bag - love it! And this YSL bag is arriving today. Well it should have arrived yesterday by nominated y delivery but NAP effed up again..not the first time in my experience.

Stokey · 13/09/2016 16:19

Like that jumpsuit Happy

I also have the green Hush jumpsuit on my wishlist. Just waiting for a discount code, their black one has been my outfit of the summer.

Sounds like you had a great anniversary weekend Amber, love the sound of the Reebok classics. Gutted about the leather leggings, I think a real pair rather than a pleasure pair will be on my AW wishlist if I manage to get some paid work.

Dd2 started school today so am going shopping with DM tomorrow. Will update if I buy anything.

Everyonelovessparkles · 13/09/2016 16:40

happy glad the business is going well, sounds like you made the right decision. Sorry to hear about your dog but good that she pulled through. I love those bags! You have a great bag collection. Can I be first in line if you ever have a clear out. Grin

At the airport now. Have had a good look in all the shops but so far have resisted, this might change if my flight is delayed.....Grin

SoyYo · 13/09/2016 17:12

everyone LOL! I know all about wasting time in airports. Resist! Grin
Happy Wow @ YSL clutches, I'd never know what to do with a clutch (fear of losing it) those look fabulous.

Quick question to whoever is around: about to buy my first JCrew toothpick jeans, not sure about sizing. Do they come up big/stretch? I am a 12 in Boden trousers/jeans and sometimes think I could even squeeze into a 10 (depends on style). Should I go for J Crew 32" or 31"?

shopafrolic · 13/09/2016 17:27

So just ducking back in to apologise for lack of presence other than a quick one liner here and there. DF is ill again and awaiting an op and I am struggling to keep afloat. Loving all the links - the YSL cross body is stunning and has made my lust list and that Hush jumpsuit is fab too.
SoYo nice to see you back :)
Will lurk for a while and then come back. MWAH.

AmberNectarine · 13/09/2016 18:26

The burgundy YSL has gone straight on my AW wishlist!
