Summertime, and the livin' is easy...some of us are basking on beaches, others are managing the madness that is school's out but work goes on...either way we want to look chic in the heat while it lasts

Come tell us what you are wearing on these balmy days...it's friendly here Smile

We're in an hotel room not too far from you Queen just chilling before we had out to dinner. Having a lovely time; however the Internet is mega slow so struggling to open any links Sad

Flowers for you Marsha, hope you're ok

Your outfit sounds fierce Shop, glad you finally got to celebrate with your dp's.

In other news, reported above post!

MarshaBrady · 11/09/2016 18:36

Thanks lovely Bernice Thanks I really like your dress, good price too

You have to pay to advertise Anj

Such lovely weather, what do you all get up to?

MarshaBrady · 11/09/2016 18:36

Whoop xpost and lovely Fedup Thanks

MarshaBrady · 11/09/2016 18:39

Being someone's offspring seems the quickest route to fashion, being 'it' and modelling doesn't it. I just saw on pin that the next celeb's daughter will be promoted to the hilt

I know Marsha, celebs are the new aristocracy.

I've been working a lot today. Got out for a short run though and put a nice dress on rather than slob about in PJ's which I have done before when I worked Sundays. Also took DD to the park and soaked up a little sun while she cycled around.

Shop hope you are ok. Outfit sounds excellent. Bet your DN is impressed with her super cool aunt.

I am craving a Wine but have decided none on school nights. I was doing it for a while and feel great but being so busy for the last few weeks I have slipped back into using it as stress medication. My aunt has just gone into a nursing home at age 62 due to destroying her body and mind with booze. Has really made me think and reflect on my own drinking.

I have sinusitis again.Sad

Lib, sounds like a lovely day with your dd. Sorry again, about your Aunt.SadFlowers

shopafrolic · 11/09/2016 20:29

Oh no Blingy I used to get that every year around this time when I was working. Rest up. Flowers

libertydoddle · 11/09/2016 21:30

Thanks Blingy it's ok. Tbh it's almost a relief now that she is so ill she goes into full time care - for the last year it has been just crisis after crisis. She's now at the point were she physically cannot go and buy alcohol so she can't hurt herself anymore. Utterly depressing though to watch someone who was so smart and beautiful and spirited reduced to the state she is in now. Really feel for you with sinusitis, so uncomfortable.

lib I'm with you with the aunt-not even sure where mine will end up after her hospital stay.

marsha I read the ST and apparently VB has a makeup range coming out with Estée lauder. It's so obvious its EL expertise and they just want the VB name to shift it. Doubt she had much to do wit it at all.

shopafrolic · 12/09/2016 06:56

Lib I'm so sorry about your aunt. Glad she is somewhere where she can't continue to self destruct though. Flowers for you.
QueenC the VB make up range is getting fantastic reviews. I'm interested to take a look. I think she was definitely involved heavily in the packaging at least. Apparently she collects old fashioned compacts and they inspired the look.

libertydoddle · 12/09/2016 09:17

Hope things get sorted with your aunt QueenC.

Shop I'm with Marsha, I wouldn't buy the VB brand on principle - a lot of time all we are paying for is brand rather than quality but it just feels like she represents the zenith of marketing over substance.

And Mara if you are lurking I hope all is going well with the T word - deadline this week I think? Hope it's going ok.

really sorry to hear about your Aunt lib that must be really hard to see Thanks i hope she settles in her new home and manages to have some sort of fulfilling life from here on in

did some more clothes sorting with dp last night and thats another charity bag and more to be given to friends. i have been as brutal as i can be even though im finding it very hard. i think it'll be easier once the bags are actually gone and im not tempted to pull things out of them IYSWIM?

SoyYo · 12/09/2016 12:18

Hi everyone de-lurking as I dip in and out of MN every few months, last time I joined you on this thread was back in Vol. 68 (still pinned in my posts but I do also have elephantine memory). Maybe you remember me?
Sorry I am so very inconsistent but it is nice to read you all.

Since I last joined you I have lost 1stone 12Lb! Took me 6 months to do it. Also took up pilates twice a week to combat flabbiness, age and a dodgy back. Have kept it off for the whole summer despite holidays so feeling pretty pleased with myself, and hope I can keep it up, it really helped that my travelling was less this year than in previous years so minimising too many business/hotel dinners. Nothing lasts forever and it is all about to change soon with a different position (same company/global reorg) so I am king of dreading the manicness that will ensue...

I have to get rid of lots of clothes that are too big for me (looking to One for inspiration), some hardly worn and lovely. Luckily all my leather/suede Muubaas still fit Ok, maybe looser but can definitely keep.

I ordered a denim dress from the Boden sale waiting for it to arrive & Ines jacket/shirt from the new Uniglo range so will report back if you are interested?

Wanted your opinion on these as I have plenty of boots, flats for autumn but no brogues and quite fancy a pair of classic unfussy monk style shoes
www.clarksoutlet.co.uk/p/261039775
Frumpy or not? Note I cannot walk in high heels, and have wide (but not ugly) feet so usually limited to Clarks wide fit and Gabor shoes.

Everyonelovessparkles · 12/09/2016 13:02

Afternoon all!

Glad you had a nice shopping trip with your DN shop and she liked the Chanel. Your outfit for your parents celebrations sounded cool.

queen I like the colour of both your jumpers. I'm the same, I used to have loads of cardigans, now I have loads of jumpers / long sleeved tops.

lib/queen/blingy - I try not to keep too many things for best as also believe you should wear what you want, when you want. However, I think its become easier as the balance of my wardobe is now skewed more to casual than dressy. But I'll often wear something more dressy / going outy even for a mums night out at pizza express as I like to wear something different from the usually everyday casualness from working at home.

Many tanks to lib' and bernice for the denim dress links. I really liked the hobbs one but I'm also 5'6 and am preferring a longer length at the moment too. I ended up ordering this one from monsoon denim dress as I had 20% off. It came today and I think I'll keep it. I tried it with a few different accessories and it worked well so hopefully will be a good buy for Autumn.

soyyo I also ordered a denim dress from Boden this one but am returning it as I found the waist detail didn't work for me. It also had a really funny smell as others on the website had commented on.....

bernice shame about the Boden leopard flats. I think I'll just order the m&s ones as I got a 20% off code in the post this morning, but let me know if you find any pointy ones. Thanks.

blingy hope you're feeling a bit better.

It was DDs party at the weekend. She enjoyed it and I was very pleased with how my princess cake turned out! I think she appreciated it, as much as a 4yeard old does! I've got DS at home today even though I'm supposed to be working, as he was sick everywhere this morning. I hate sick, it's just the worst. Hopefully he'll be feeling better soon.

QueenCobalt · 12/09/2016 13:11

Like lib, I wouldn't buy VB on principle either. I just have an irrational hatred of her.
Welcome back soy. Great news on the weight loss and keeping it off all summer .
everyone most of my wardobe is casual so it makes even less sense that I keep things for best. And nothing is that hideously expensive that it would matter too much if it got ruined.
lib I reckon my aunt will need full time care too as her confusion is getting worse rather than better and she has admitted that she will still drink as she "is not hurting anybody" Hmm

SoyYo · 12/09/2016 13:39

Thanks Everyone I hadn't spotted that denim one though I could see how useful it would be, I ordered this from Boden though I don't hold out much hope I end up returning at least half of my Boden orders as so much depends on your shape and their erratic sizing. I find their trousers/jeans less hit and miss though and what I usually end up keeping. We will see...

SoyYo · 12/09/2016 14:03

QueenC waves hello. Are you the same *QueenC" as Queen Cardigan?

Everyonelovessparkles · 12/09/2016 14:14

soyyo I've ordered that previously and returned it too! It made me look really 'hippy' and frumpy and i knew it would languish at the back of the wardrobe. I think I ordered a 10 and it was pretty big whereas the 12 I ordered in the long sleeved one was more fitted.

SoyYo · 12/09/2016 15:47

Right reporting back, Boden & Uniglo orders arrived this pm.
First the denim Boden dress looks sooo good I can hardly believe it. I ordered both 14 and 12 as never quite sure with them, the 14R is perfect for me, the 12 too tight across the bust though it fits everywhere else.
The length (R) just covers my knees, which I like (I'm petite only 5'3"). This could be my body shape, I have 32G boobs, typical vase, so not as curvy as an hourglass/have slim hips, and legs so basically the shape of the dress balances me out with the flaring out skirt and makes me look more hourglass than Vshape. Love and keeping! I think it is the first Boden dress I will keep in over a year. Hooray!
I also added to the basket blacktop only because I was ordering the dress and it looked bargain. It fits me really well and like the cowl neck but I think I will return because it is very itchy fabric and looks quite cheap and will probably not wash well.
Boden order report over.

SoyYo · 12/09/2016 15:56

Ines @ Uniglo, keeping this, nicely made and cool styling flanneljacket
not so sure about this white shirt I went for a large (because of boobage) but it is really voluminous and swamps my small frame, nice quality cotton though but would have to wear only tucked in...Mmmm not sure at all which is a shame as I like the idea of the shirt but the reality is different...

SoyYo · 12/09/2016 16:03

small frame as in petite (short arse) rather than slim...

IAmTheWhoreOfBabylon · 12/09/2016 16:14

I blame S & B for making me covet one so much
Can you only get them at hush? I would prefer a bit cheaper ideally
I would like a jumper or top to go with it but the hush ones are ££
I can see I will be ordering
