Summertime, and the livin' is easy...some of us are basking on beaches, others are managing the madness that is school's out but work goes on...either way we want to look chic in the heat while it lasts

Come tell us what you are wearing on these balmy days...it's friendly here Smile

How is the shopping going QueenC?

My Uniqlo order arrived....
The poncho doesn't work on me at all. I love the idea of ponchos but I seem to look swamped in every one I try.
Jacket and the beret, both in dark green. are winners and I have been wearing them all afternoon Smile.

Everyone I saw this denim dress in Monsoon today and thought it looked good.

I also picked up the tan Clarks Hamble Oak brogues today and I'm happy with them. And stocked up on socks and tights in M&S. I know I say this all the time but I think I have enough clothes now Grin.

Hi again, thanks so much everyone for your lovely words. It's been a really bad week (with bad news) so it's so nice to see them.

I need some lighthearted distraction so I'd like to talk about the Vogue documentary. I loved it, has anyone seen it?

These are my thoughts

  • I would never buy Vicky B stuff now, as I imagined she talks about her design as if she is reading a press release written by someone else, no design passion
  • I love that Lucinda C and Mario T met ages ago and clearly worked their way up with talent
  • I loved the office politics around creativity, as it's quite close to what it's like where I work as creative. I love that they showed the undercurrents of the chosen and not chosen covers and people backing the blonde, all very much like work
  • Alexandra S was right about the covers, esp the K Moss one, the pose was not good with the flag
  • Kate Moss is still so beautiful, esp on film

Lib good call on the jacket and beret. Both ace for you

shopafrolic · 10/09/2016 20:40

Lovely day at Westfield. I ended up buying her Chanel for her. She loved it. She goes to a very posh school in the Netherlands and all her school friends wear Z&V, IM etc. So much pressure at 14yo. Horrid. Anyway. Lots of fun, she bought tops from Hollister, underwear from VS and came away happy.
I tried the Zara coat is fab but 100% polyester so left it for today. Looked great though.
Gobsmacked by the number of bodies with poppers - back to the 80 big time. this reversible jacket in TS was such great quality.

QueenCobalt · 10/09/2016 21:31

Hello. I've had a fab day and bought lots. Will link tomorrow as I'm currently still on train. vegas I tried on the office blue shoes. Omg, they are lush and I was so so tempted but I just don't kobe when if wear them.
marsha I really want to catch up on the vogue doc. Also. Need to catch up on cold feet. Did anyone else watch that.
Love to you all

libertydoddle · 10/09/2016 21:38

Wow shop. IM at 14!!!! Glad to hear you had a good day.

We've just been to Westfield!! DH has been ordering jeans on line with no success so we decided to head in there after dinner. He got what he wanted with jeans from Diesel and Banana Republic. I just browsed a bit and stocked up in Kiehls.

Marsha I didn't see the Vogue documentary but want to having read your comments. Kate Moss is stunning. Something about her bone structure and eyes. I occasionally wonder if she does any botox etc.

QueenC are you home yet? Any nice purchases to report?

Sounds like everyone has had a fab day shopping.

Lib I love your Uniqlo jacket, am very tempted to order hat and the navy aran cardigan.

Inspired by One I tried to sort out my dress wardrobe today. Many hours later, i've only managed to discard 1 dress even though 50% of the clothes are waiting for me to lose at least 10lbs to fit into them again.

shopafrolic · 10/09/2016 21:49

In other news DN persuaded me to sign up to snapchat today. No idea what I'm doing Grin

Dreamqueen · 10/09/2016 22:04

Shop no idea either what snapchat is? let us know when you figure it out Smile

QueenCobalt · 11/09/2016 07:55

So, my purchases mean that I am pretty set for winter....
raspberry jumper

QueenCobalt · 11/09/2016 07:57

cobalt jumper. I don't normally do v necks but as this isn't too low it look fine.

Longislandicetee · 11/09/2016 08:00

Love the cobalt oneGrin

QueenCobalt · 11/09/2016 08:02

this in dark green.

Also, a damson coloured blouse from BR but I can't find it online.

QueenCobalt · 11/09/2016 08:07

It's funny as about 3 years ago I didn't own any jumpers and now I have loads. Also tried on a blouse in Velvet that I liked but it was massive and totally too big. Tried the boots I think I want but they didn't have the smaller size that I need to try too and I was in the wrong jeans.

I need a good talking to you by you all. Ive got loads of lovely clothes but I seem to wear the same ones all the time. It's not even my favourites that I wear....I tend to wear my least favourites as im scared of ruining the favourites or they are too nice for work/school. Go figure and talk some sense into me.

VivaVegas · 11/09/2016 08:26

Sounds like some of you had good shopping days out!
Queen I'm not sure where I'd wear any of the velvet shoes either but I'm going to a winter wedding so will need to sort something for that (and will no doubt need help). Love the cobalt jumper, my fave couloir, what's the sizing like as don't have a BR near me?

libertydoddle · 11/09/2016 08:29

QueenC I was having the same thoughts this weekend. I haven't worn my new suede biker yet as I'm terrified of damaging it. I have decided to give it a first wear when I go for dinner with DH in 2 weeks time. But not wearing my nicest things or nicest combinations is something I do. I think it's a deep rooted self esteem thing. I like being complimented on how I look but it also makes me feel v self conscious.

And following on from Queens post above and mine a few weeks ago about needing to work out what I have before I buy more and always wearing the same things. I struggle to find the time to sort my stuff but this week have worn 2 different things that were just hanging in my wardrobe to work and found them to be perfect work items, and will try and do this each week, kind of sorting as I go along! I'm also trying to sort 2 things a week and did my bedside table and nightwear drawer this week. Underwear and socks/tights and misc dumping drawers to be done this week. Feeling a bit more organised and not daunted by trying to do too much and failing.
Have also bought a little project notebook to note good new outfits and gaps so I can try and get fully sorted.

VivaVegas · 11/09/2016 08:41

Saw this petit bateau jacket in a local boutique today, might pop back without DC and gave a try, would be good for work or with jeans.

Longislandicetee · 11/09/2016 09:51

QueenC, my attitude is that life is too short not to wear "best" all the time and to save for later. Especially on a day like today, there is no way I am denying myself the pleasure of wearing/using now something that I have worked hard for or has been given to me with love. It's why I wear my bling all the time. As an example,I am currently wearing my £8k raindance ring, knowing I am doing nothing fancier than popping into town later to the opticians. This ring is definitely meant to be worn not stored away, same as your lovely clothes. Set yourself the challenge of wearing 2 of your "best" things each week, you will honestly soon get over it.

QueenCobalt · 11/09/2016 12:19

blingy you're right and I will set myself that challenge of wearing 2 "best" things a week. Some of it is also laziness-I cycle to work in trainers and so need to change into shoes when I get there. I have an old grey pair of ballet flats under my desk as emergency shoes in case I forget to take any with me. Ive resorted to often wearing these as I can't be bothered to take any in with me. Crap, isn't it?

Wearing everything I've got will also feel like I've got new stuff. I'm going to try and wean myself off looking at 'new in' so regularly (hence no Sunday morning links today) and just try and enjoy what I have. Aside from boots and another going out top I really have no more need for anything.

BerniceBobsHerHair · 11/09/2016 14:58

Marsha sorry you have had bad news Flowers

QueenC lovely clothes in lovely colours. The 2 'best' things a week sounds like a good idea - let us know what you wear!

I also find that I am comfort / practicality driven. If I have something new, I am nervous of getting it dirty - especially from grubby hands (DC, not mine). I always end the day covered in stains so it does put me off wearing things sometimes.

Everyone this whistles dress is the denim one I bought - not v helpful as it is out of stock but it does pop back on some sites, such as Very Exclusive (where I got mine). I like the fact the buttons only go half way and it is a good length (knee on me). Having said I tried loads before deciding on this one, I now can't remember what I tried and discounted.

The Boden leopard flats arrived too. Or loads arrived as I somehow managed to order 3 pairs! Anyway, initially I liked them and they seemed comfortable (as much as you can tell) - not tight on the toes and okay over the instep. But they suffered from my pet hate - incorrect pattern matching (even though I had 6 shoes to play around with!) and also I didn't think they suited the ponyskin - it was a bit too long and regged on some of the shoes (painting a beautiful mental image). The shape of the shoe is lovely but let down by the material.

I've discarded the Marks ones too now, just cause I want pointy toe.

Sounds like you had a nice day with your niece Shop. The pressure to wear brands so young is horrible though.

libertydoddle · 11/09/2016 17:50

Nice shirt dress Bernice. The pattern matching thing on leopard and snakeskin print shoes is maddening isn't it? I remember ordering 4 pairs of an M&S snakeshin shoe once to get a match I was happy with Grin.

Everyone, this Hobbs denim shirtdress is very nice. I tried it on last night in Westfield. I didn't buy it as it was too short, the pictures on the model are very deceptive. I am only 5ft 6inches and it was a good 3 inches above my knees which is outside of my comfort zone. But if you have good legs or are shorter it's really lovely.

Had family over for a meal to celebrate my DPs 50th wedding anniversary again. Wore leather skinnies, white Whistles shirt and red suede Jigsaw heels (still love these Amber). Needed to feel strong. It worked. Smile
