Summertime, and the livin' is easy...some of us are basking on beaches, others are managing the madness that is school's out but work goes on...either way we want to look chic in the heat while it lasts

Come tell us what you are wearing on these balmy days...it's friendly here Smile

Love those Rockstuds copies, especially in khaki.

Blair hope the peppermint capsule help to ease the discomfort.

Mara sounds like you're super busy atm. Good luck with the thesis.

Amber and Blair good shopping hauls.

Blingy bet dh loves his watch. It's gorgeous.

Dream love that Alexa dress.

Shop hope df is feeling better Flowers

Hate posting on the app as I can't scroll back through previous posts and comment on more things. I have to rely on my goldfish memory.
Confused

shopafrolic · 08/08/2016 09:14

Morning all. Fab day yesterday with some lovely friends and their kids. Went to a great local gastro pub with loads of outdoor space. Party continued back at ours as the kids were playing so nicely. Everyone headed home at 9ish. Just what I needed. Smile
We're still waiting on news about DF but it isn't looking great. He may well be moved to a more specialist hospital. I am trying to figure out childcare so I can visit him later today. DH is back to work today so visiting is going to be tricky as no kids allowed.

Dreamqueen · 08/08/2016 10:24

Sorry to read about DF Shop hope you manage to visit him today.

I love the watch Blingy its a fab gift.

I've decided to go teetotal for a few weeks. I need to drop some lbs. My clothes arre feeling tight and i can't exercise at the moment while I've got this infection. So shout at me please if I mention any gin fuelled outings Smile

libertydoddle · 08/08/2016 13:56

Sounds like a lovely day Shop. Hope things go well for DF today.

Dream I'm with you on the booze. I had stopped drinking at home for a while but have slipped up over the summer. Have decided to stop again and only have a drink if I'm out. In an effort to lose some weight I'm also quitting eating after 7pm (I have really gotten into a habit of snacking on rubbish in front of the TV). Hopefully the above combined with 3 workouts a week and lots of walking will have an effect.

My exchange on this silk shirt has arrived and fits much better in the 10 than the 12. DH did an order for himself and DD of various items from Boden clearance so as everyone else in the house was getting something I got him to put this dress in coral into the family basket Smile

QueenC thanks for the Uniqlo tip - perfect colours but weirdly they don't have them in the v-necks or the cardigans. I have a long 'maybe' list for autumn now. Need to do a trying on session and decide what I really need / want.

Has anyone started A/W shopping / lists? So far on my list I have tan brogues, long camel coat, dark denim shirt, a turtle or polo neck and a coatigan. I also urgently need new bras (totally begrudge spending money on bras) and this year I'm going to splash out on nice tights too.

KittyHello · 08/08/2016 14:09

Like the Boden dress Lib it's also lovely in green too

Dream I'm normally not too bad re: drinking and am usually a WOW drinker - wine on weekends. I do this purely for weight reasons as I love nothing more than a nice glass of wine in the evening once the dc are in bed.

Of late, due to lazy summer evenings I've become a bit more of a WOW WE drinker - wine on Wednesdays and weekends Grin this may continue until September and then back to WOW drinking. -- In fact on hols it'll be WED - wine every day with a few Aperol Spritz's thrown in!

Enough about my drinking habits, hic, I actually popped on to say thank you to Blingy for the tops and shoes, they fit perfectly and look great on.

Shop Flowers wish I lived closer so I could help you out with childcare.

BerniceBobsHerHair · 08/08/2016 14:32

Shop Hope your DF is out of hospital soon. I do like a lot on that link, thanks! I am considering this skirt.

kitty I like your holiday drinking style! That's great about Blingy's clothes.

Nice dress Lib - are you going away? My brain has become scrambled with everyone's holiday plans.

No AW purchases here, although the sun has gone again.

Blair hope you feel better soon, sounds a real pain (literally and figuratively).

Hello Mara - nice to see you back.

Hello to everyone else Flowers

Everyonelovessparkles · 08/08/2016 14:32

shop sorry to hear about your DF Flowers

dream and lib I hear you on the wine front. Over the summer I've been having a glass of wine or a g&t nearly every night. I do feel better I. Myself when I can wait till at least Wednesday Thursday but sometimes by the time I've done nursery pick up end bath time and bedtime for the DC I need a glass of wine!

Oooh I like that dress lib. Let me know what it's like, especially round the stomach, as it could be a really useful summer dress.

I have started a bit of an A/W wish list. I want a nice coat /jacket. Either this or something like it black coat though there are 2 styles that are very similar so I'm not sure. There's also the jacket version which I like too. So not sure which one to get jacket version
I also want a red bag.
And Jeans
Other than that I think I should be ok yeah right! famous last words!

BerniceBobsHerHair · 08/08/2016 14:41

On my AW wishlist:
Hudson loafers
DMs
Boden ruched top
Warehouse midi dress

libertydoddle · 08/08/2016 15:54

Good choices Bernice. Can see you in the loafers and the DM's. We aren't going anywhere until Oct mid term break but doing a sales mop up for the holiday wardrobe now.

Thanks for all the Boden dress love - I was leaning towards the green but DD and DH preferred the coral.

Bless you Kitty like you haven't got enough on your plate!
Saw DF this afternoon, sounds as though we are talking weeks in hospital. He has 8 litres of fluid on his lung and some shadowy patches that need investigating so not looking good. Poor guy - he's having a rotten year.
DS spent the day at my Godsons' house and came away with one of their old Nerf guns so he is very happy - didn't miss me at all which is good.
I wore my Madewell animal print flats today that I wore once to a MU _ forgot how uncomfortable they are - they cut right in under my ankle bone. Shame as the leather is soft but they just won't give on me so will get rid. The toe had already gone a little bald too - I won't buy hairy flats again as this always seems to happen.
My wishlist for AW isn't too huge but I am on the look out for high street priced red pointed toe flats, (or red snakeskin if such a thing exists), and I would also like a large red leather tote as I am carting loads round at the moment. Links welcome :)

QueenC1 · 08/08/2016 18:24

Oh no shop, poor man. He'll feel much better once it's drained.

bernice they are all so you.

I've drank too much this week to cope with the inlaws. Will obviously be drinking every day from Saturday for a couple of weeks and will get back into good habits once school starts back.

Ive got various things on my aw wishlist but not sure how much of it I really need. Because all my winter stuff is packed away I can't totally remember what I have. If I can't manage to get rid of a butter stain on my boots then new ones will be top of my list.

shop don't you have red pointed ghillies? Do you use the Orange AH? Does that come in red?

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 08/08/2016 19:44

I had seen that yellow Finery dress QueenC - great minds! It is nice but there might be a bra issue though...

Shop what about something like a MK jet set tote? (And Flowers for you)

I hardly drink at home and don't mind that, DH is the same, I pile on the pounds from alcohol so keep it to socialising. I have noticed lately though that I always get a headache from cheap wine (even like a £5 glass in a pub or chain restaurant). Probably a good thing Hmm

Winter wishlist is camel coat, puffa jacket, a new handbag, a cord skirt, a sequin skirt, sock boots and a few other on trend items (something embroidered, something velvet?)
and I will need a separate list for my New York spree Grin

AmberNectarine · 08/08/2016 19:50

For A/W I'm thinking definitely a new bag. Not sure which yet. I'd also like a bright coat,

shopafrolic · 08/08/2016 20:32

I need something bigger than the AH Queen, and MK tote could be a winner if one comes up cheap. I keep meaning to sell the AH maxi as the colour means it isn't getting used. Fab bag though.

justasecond · 08/08/2016 21:02

Hi all, back from our Paris trip, had a brilliant time. The weather was fabulous so we did a lot of outdoor stuff instead of visiting too many galleries and museums. The dc loved the open top bus tour. DD1 read Ines de La Fressange's Parisian style guide from the hotel lobby and is now full of style advice for anyone who will listen!
Sorry to hear your df is not well Shop Flowers hope he improves soon.
Lib good news about the silk shirt and love that dress
Those rockstud alike flats are lovely queenc agree with betty khaki is the best colour
Blair hope you feel better soon. Its horrible having gut issues and they do take a while to resolve fully. My sister had similar problems after long term ab use a few years ago. I will ask her what she took. I really rate these probiotics [[http://www.optibacprobiotics.co.uk/shop/saccharomyces-boulardii]]

Bernice great wishlist. I really like the loafers and the dress.
Mara lovely clutch. I went to the Gucci store on Rue Royale in Paris it was so gorgeous in there. Good luck with the thesis.

I have an a/w purchase to report already Blush. I bought this bag in Paris apc half moon bag in black. It has been on my wishlist for a while and they sell out really quickly here.
Other than that I think I would like some black loafers and maybe a long slim camel coat. I think my wrap style one will be ebayed .

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 08/08/2016 21:11

i hope your DF is on the mend soon Shop Thanks

how are you feeling today blair?

Glad you had a lovely time justa

I genuinely can't think of anything i need for A/W apart from a leather jacket! i gave my old one to a lady on a swap thread on here as it was much too big much as i really loved it. that's genuinely they only thing i can think i need this time round apart from the usual things like socks tights and underwear

QueenC1 · 08/08/2016 21:45

So glad you had a lovely time justa. Love the bag.

There's a couple of intetesting threads at the moment-the one about the camel coat and whether it's an investment piece and the one about which items won't date.

Longislandicetee · 08/08/2016 22:06

I say this every August on this thread so bear with me.....noooooooo! I refuse to think of A/W until September. End of.Grin

Mara when I read your comment "Is your mil Joan Collins? Can't imagine someone who makes you look dowdy!". I laughed. A lot. To put in context, mil is a very beautiful woman who wears about £75k of bling on just a casual day at home.Grin

Justa, so glad you had a great time!

Kitty, really glad the clothes fit and look good!

Love the Dune Rockstuds QueenC.

That Boden ruched top is lovely Bernice. I am going to Pin something for you.

AmberNectarine · 08/08/2016 22:25

Oh, I've thought of something I really do want. A pair of fitted, black, knee high leather boots with a reasonable heel (10cm or less). Probably almond toe.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 08/08/2016 22:37

i'd like a new bag but i don't want a cheap one, i'd like to actually get myself something nice, you know?a sort of reward for how well i've done with my weight as i haven't really celebrated it at all. that might be a goal for the new year though rather than straight away so i can save for something i really want

libertydoddle · 09/08/2016 10:17

Justa lovely bag - glad you got it as you have wanted it for a while. Good to hear the holiday in Paris went well.

One what type of bag do you want? One of my friends got a Mulberry Bayswater on ebay recently.

Shop how is DF today?

WFH today so just in my People Tree jersey pants and a breton. Apologies for bringing up AW so early Blingy but I just love AW clothes. Much more exciting than SS!!

OP posts:
Everyonelovessparkles · 09/08/2016 10:53

Nice bag justa and glad you had a nice holiday.

Your MIL does sound very glamorous blingy. Your party sounds fab by the way.

I've got my eye on this red bag shop red bag I have it in grey and really like it, you can get loads in it but it's still quite neat and a classic shape (if you get rid of the 'quirky' radley accessory). Though I got the grey one for £94 in the sale so am loathe to pay over £100 more for the red one full price. Or there's always a red le pilage if you want something more casual.

I always like A/W clothes too lib as my birthday is in October so is an excuse to splash out!

I've got drinks tonight with an old friend but still feelibg under the weather so OOTD is pretty low key but one I like - slim fit jeans, cream ravello top, navy wrap bracelet, blue necklace and tan sandals.

Hope everyone has a good day.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 09/08/2016 11:10

You would Lib, as an Autumn Grin (to be fair, as a pale person, I love AW clothes too! But spring and autumn more than winter.)

Yay justa, glad you got the bag and that your hols were good, sounds like you did lots of fun things.

Amber I have a pair of boots like that, one of the oldest things in my wardrobe, I love them! Mine are from Nine West. Can't wait to wear them like this with my DVF dress.

One I am not feeling too bad today thanks!

I had some really good news yesterday. My youngest Dsis is pregnant Grin I can't tell anyone in RL as she's only 9 weeks, but she wanted to tell close family as she won't be drinking at my birthday! She is only 25 but she's a lot more inclined towards starting a family than say, me, lol. I'm the person who had in my head "28" then "30" and now I'm 30 I'm like "errr 32???"

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 09/08/2016 11:14

I'm not sure exactly what i want yet lib im keeping my options open atm

shopafrolic · 09/08/2016 12:12

That's lovely Everyone - glad the little dog has gone :)
Lib moved onto a respiratory ward for further investigations. Consultants all meet and discuss tomorrow I think so we'll know more then. I'll be heading back over this afternoon.
I love the structure of AW stuff but don't want to say goodbye to the sunshine just yet.
