This thread continues from our perfumistas thread which is now full. It is a lovely and friendly thread in which we discuss all things perfume-y, and ask for tips and share opinions and SOTDs ( Scent of The Day). Do drop in- we're not cliquey and we all smell nice.

On a more exciting note, the Tauer website is back up having been down for over two weeks after the website maintenance overran.
I'm eyeing up the best seller Discovery set with Lonesome Rider, une Rose Chypree, Incense Rose, Rose Kandahar, and L'aire du Desert Marocaine.
DH said he'd buy it for Christmas but I can't wait that long!
besides I expect a full-size bottle for Christmas

My samples and decants arrived from Crystal Flacon this morning. SoTD started as Wode, which is woody and very dry (bitter, myrrh) indeed. I think perhaps better for winter, but good although it faded off quickly. Thought I had overdone it to start with but DS didn't comment in the car, so it can't have been horrendous. Showered after walking the dog, and now I whiff of Lonesome Rider -- my other sample. It is reminiscent of Lonestar Memories, as promised, especially the resin-y tar element, but it dries down to a soft leather and is a lot less butch cowboy. It would never be a full bottle, or even a big decant for me. None of the Tauers has been a love of my life, yet (there are lots to go!)

But the decants are PdE Equistrius (iris and leather, with hints of cocoa) which will be an autumn and winter favourite, and Vetiver Tonka (smells just as it says on the label) which is an all-time, anytime love.

Ohh, and it was a big birthday recently, and DS (17) gave me a bottle of Iris EDP, which has been my obsession of this summer, as well as a handful of sample sprays of the flankers he sweet-talked from the sales lady (who also gift-wrapped it for him!) So I feel very spoiled!

SOTD for me is Lush Karma. I put a squish on each wrist at 2pm and I can still smell it! £28 for 30ml so I'm glad it's v heady.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 09/08/2016 22:05

SOTD was Body by Victoria Secret. I just ADORE this. It is the freshest scent you can imagine...like dewdrops on grass and dandelion leaves. I was heartbroken some years ago when I read they had discontinued it....but then they brought it back YAY!!!

If only Body Shop would do the same for White Cotton!!!!

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 10/08/2016 13:27

SOTD is Jo Malone Fennel & something from Spring ltd edition. Gorgeous but lasts about 4 minutes
Can I please pick your expert brains? My fave smells are sharp lime or tart mint things. I have a few cheap and cheerful scents but don't last. Any higher end suggestions please?

lasttimeround · 10/08/2016 14:50

Recent discovery of mine: body mists from & other stories. Really nice scents - not synthetic smelling. Lasting power is poor but anyone craving mimosa that one is particularly nice

SOTD samsara now I'm home and in need of something glorious. Earlier herba fresca

BaronessBomburst · 10/08/2016 16:33

I've ordered a Discovery set from Tauer perfumes!
Now I just have to wait 3-7 days.

I could drive it in a couple of hours.
Its not faaaair!

Judydreamsofhorses · 10/08/2016 19:34

Been away for a few days - SOTD is a sample of Heeley
Agarwoud. I like it, but I don't think I would go for a full bottle.

Baroness I feel so sorry for your Latin teacher with the leaked Lou Lou!

MrsCocoa · 10/08/2016 20:28

Can anyone link to the Tauer site? You lot are a v bad influence.

lasttimeround · 10/08/2016 20:38

I'm v tempted with the tauer sdmples but also want to buy apres l'ondee which feels like it's haunting me. I keep going back your guerlain counter because I need to smell it again. It's like nothing I've ever smelled before and just real grown up beautiful.

here
You can opt for the Discovery set, or select "samples" from the homepage menu and pick your own.

BaronessBomburst · 10/08/2016 21:44

DH has just logged into his email.
"Whatever currency is that? Hang on. WTF have you been buying in Switzerland?"
Ooops.

BaronessBomburst · 12/08/2016 22:36

Where have you all gone?!

SOTD was Knot by Bottega Veneta, a freebie sample.
It first went on as creamy, floral citrus, with mandarin and orange, and I thought I was going to love it, but within a minute it turned to soap, and leather. Then it went old and musty like the drawing room in a stately home, and there it stayed. I tried to wash it off, and got it back to soap.
I later googled and lots of reviewers on Fragrantica seemed to agree with me.
It's supposed to be flowers, fresh air, and clean washing hanging in the street, but to me it smelt musty and old fashioned.
Not a hit.

Oh wow!! Squeeing right along with you. What's Rose chypree like?

CorrigansDoorKnob · 13/08/2016 14:43

SOTD is Papillon Salome. My parents brought me the sample in their suitcase as I can't get it here. My goodness it's feral!!! Armpits and urine.! It has the same pee note as 24 Falbourg. I need to sum up the courage to wear it all day to see how it dries down.

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 13/08/2016 16:19

Sadly I am perfumeless when I really need it. DS was admitted to hospital as emergency and we were transferred to another city so I have nothing! NHS are fab at providing emergency toiletries but not much in perfume line. I'm stuck with handbag sized Paul Smith Rose which is nice if a but 2-dimensional.
I know I should be worrying about other things but could use a nice smell other than poorly little boy.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 13/08/2016 22:00

Pinkie is your wee guy ok??? Shock fingers crossed he will be just fine!

You really hit on the power of perfume!!!! There is something about it that just can lift us, gee us on..no matter what awful times we are having!!

I think that is why I love my perfume collection. And why I keep adding to it!!!

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 13/08/2016 22:04

SOTD was Lz Earle Botanic Essence No. 20. It was a gift fr
