How 'edgy' a pixie cut can I get away with?

Honest opinions, please, suitable for RL Grin

I am 50.
Have mid-brown (hennaed) hair.
Some wave/frizz Hmm
I live and work in semi-rural suburbia.

I have finally come off the fence made an appointment to have my mid-back length hair cut to a pixie - the change in length does not particularly phase me, I've done it several times in my lifetime. It's only hair Grin

Here's my question: I quite fancy something really very short sides and back (maybe a gentle bit of undercut?) with a longer top. Am quite happy to be a bit edgy but not ludicrously so. I wear no make-up day to day, I have no facial piercings and no tattoos and work in a job in which I really don't want to scare the horses. Or the neighbours.
So all the many lovely mohican pixies I have wasted hours and hours on looked at online are really not an option.

So, am I having some kind of hair related mid-life crisis? Am I nuts?
Should i just embrace my inner Deirdre and settle for Middle-Aged Hair??

Help!

I have a longer version - purely to cover up my ears as they stick out a bit 😳.....it's short through the back & tapers over my ears, with a fair bit of texture.

My hair is quite thin, so it helps it to appear thicker & it takes me 5 minutes in the morning to style.

I'm 44 & I don't think it's ageing - I love having short hair, it's so much easier to deal with....

zippyswife · 16/06/2016 19:20

Rufus I LOVE your hair but mines way too frizzy to attempt that. Loving all your short cuts. Very inspiring!

PacificDogwod · 16/06/2016 19:34

Ah yes, crap. more bloody choice! Grin
Thanks a lot!!

I am getting seriously excited now.
Want a leetle bit of an undercut, not shaved but really tight in to the sides/back (no sweaty neck for me on holiday, no siree!)

I always worry about looking blokish, but I find having boobage helps in that department.

HD, yours are all v cool, augmented by your piercing. And, you know, tended to eyebrows. And lip gloss. I am a bit more minimalist than that

Anyway, I've also got an appointment to get my eyebrows sorted.
May consider tinted lashes too...

Yay. Tidy eyebrow s make people think your much more groomed than you really are.

Don't tint your eyelashes get to a Wilkos and buy the Esscence £2 waterproof mascara, gives lovely lengthened natural looking lashes, and you could throw a hurricane at your face and it wouldn't budge. Yet it is the lazy girls friend as it comes off fine with warm water.

HoneyDragon · 16/06/2016 19:47

Yes ..... But we'll forgive you if you don't want to,

PacificDogwod · 16/06/2016 19:49

I might post a pic with sunnies on Grin

Really? That Wilko's stuff sounds good, thanks for the tip.

I think a 'true' pixie might be a bit more specific as to face shape, but there is a 'short style' for everyone.

RufusTheReindeer · 16/06/2016 21:23

Would deffo like a photo pacific

Thanks honey and zippy, its a very easy hairstyle . I have had it for nearly 20 years now!

Rufus, love the hair, I do like a proper pixie crop{sighs wistfully while growing out a pixie and forgetting what wispy fluffy hair I have}

However, what was the rocky road recipe? Grin

RufusTheReindeer · 16/06/2016 21:55

Doh Blush

RufusTheReindeer · 16/06/2016 21:58

Rocky road

Hi my recipe was 4 oz of plain choc, 4oz of milk choc, melted with 4 oz unsalted butter and 2 tbsp of syrup.

Add 8oz broken digestive biscuits, I added 2oz raisins, 5oz maltesers and 5oz marshmallows (the recipe called for 4 oz of choc chips, 4oz of maltesers and 4oz of marshmallows, it also used ginger nut biscuits and 8 oz of plain choc)

It suggested a 20 inch square pan lined with greaseproof paper, squash it in and pop in fridge for at least 2 hours
