I need a white scoop neck tshirt. Is that a difficult thing to find? Oh yes Angry

BoSelectaBigBiff · 01/07/2016 18:27

nickdrake, this is why I despair of M&S. I also went in to my local (large) M&S store recently looking for the pleather biker jacket (damn these S&B threads).

I walked round the whole ground floor 3 times and couldn't find them anywhere. Then I noticed, in a dark and neglected corner that said "PETITE COLLECTION", a couple of random rails that looked as though they had coats on.

I went over, and sure enough, there were the jackets. About 6 of them, only in 1 colour way, though, and only in 3 sizes - 8, 20, and 22.

If they can't even be bothered to properly stock and display one of their well-rated, best-sellers, then there's really no hope for them.

Jigsaw order arrived today as mentioned upthread - loved the cable poncho, will be so warm for the winter. Button back jumper although gorgeous colour seemed expensive for what it was. Wrap back Navy wool jumper was quite plain but lovely to wear.

Just ordered this in the black

Hopefully semi stylish and practical?

Now I must stop spending .... Well until the Hush sale starts on Tuesday!

JohnCheese · 03/07/2016 18:45

Remus, I haven't worn the tee yet but it feels lovely so I have high hopes. Quite an acute angled V, ( ooh get me and the math), iykwim. Hope to wear it loads, as well as tucked in to the skirt.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/07/2016 19:06

John - You've just reminded me that I forgot to go to Cos today. I bought nothing at all,l anywhere - hated everything. John Lewis was full of shapeless crap in horrible colours.

I liked a dress in the Whistles sale, but they only had it in a size 6. M&S was full of rack upon rack of hideous flip flops, next to monstrosities like this.

I wanted a black bag (maybe a weekender bag or a backpack) for a city break, but couldn't find anything that was both light enough and not stupidly expensive.

SmilingGivesYouWrinkles · 03/07/2016 19:41

There is nothing to buy. Nothing.

I'd quite like the shops to bring in their Autumn stock now so I can get ahead for next term.

Dancergirl · 03/07/2016 20:20

I'm thinking about this dress from Banana Republic. I saw someone wearing it and it looked great:

Have just got back from a weekend camping, so am overwhelmed with the need for sensible outdoor gear rather than anything even slightly stylish. But nonetheless, am hoping to get a few bits in Hush sale on Tuesday, then will also be counting down to winter stock arriving. Although desperately need shoes of various sorts so will probably buy some at some stage.

LittleMissWagtail · 04/07/2016 06:52

Can I slightly hijack this to ask about earrings? I fancy some dangly, drop earrings for everyday, summer wear. Nothing too loud/colourful but maybe a bit boho.......... Where should I be looking?

LittleMissWagtail · 04/07/2016 13:12

Dancer - they are very beautiful (as is the website) but more than I want to pay. Looking for something bigger and gold coloured. Thanks though.

Floisme · 04/07/2016 14:00

I have found my leather jacket.... In Oxfam Grin

From - where else, my favourite shop of the moment - H&M. Yes, it's real leather: more bomber than biker, short, neat, no fuss or studdery. Even the colour is perfect - greenish-grey.

£6.99. Best of all, it means I still have the funds to hunt down an un-Herr Flick, knee length, Mary Quant-ish leather coat.

I'm always moaning about charity shops but today, all is forgiven. I'm so happy, I could hug a Brexiter.

CointreauVersial · 04/07/2016 17:00

Well done, Flo, excellent work. My lovely grey suede biker is ex-chazza as well.

Dancergirl · 04/07/2016 17:47

Fantastic, enjoy wearing it. I have a lovely Mint Velvet brown leather biker that I bought on EBay for £50. Not quite as cheap but even so, it was barely worn and looked like new.

Grey suede sounds lovely cointreau

hippiedays · 04/07/2016 17:51

Dancer I have just bought those earrings, thank you for posting them!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/07/2016 17:58

Flo - hurray!

Hopefully · 04/07/2016 18:52

Great find flo! I have an all saints biker that I paid through the nose for, but I love it, wear it all the time.

I have spent a fun hour today going through my wardrobe and now have a long shopping list. Mainly basics that are just looking very tired and tatty. Does anyone manage to get more than about a year out of tshirts nowadays? I don't have many so they work hard, but I am constantly surprised at how quickly they look terrible. Are my standards getting higher or quality getting more shit?

wiltingfast · 04/07/2016 20:31

Haha JonnCheese I bought that cos tee in blue and white Smile it's a great shape on and the cotton is SO soft.

And tweedles I admired those very sandals on the tube the other day, thank you for solving the mystery of where they came from Grin never heard of gather and see Shock

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/07/2016 20:41

I find that Whistles t-shirts last pretty well - I keep an eye out for them in the sales.

KanyesVest · 04/07/2016 21:53

I took advantage of my first ever time shopping in the UK and bought a denim dress in peacocks today .

Saurus72 · 04/07/2016 21:59

I think nice t-shirts are really hard to find, which is perplexing. I saw this lovely Whistles one today: www.whistles.com/women/clothing/jersey-tops/pleat-trim-t-shirt-23015.html?dwvar_pleat-trim-t-shirt-23015_color=Black#start=1

Obviously ridiculously priced. But t-shirts are one of the random things that Whistles do almost perfectly. Annoyingly, they also wash well and last for a long time. Although not long enough to pay £65 Hmm.

Have also recently discovered kimono jackets from Anthropologie - just lovely. Bought this one with a discount code, and I think it will be good for most of the year in this country, either layered over a t-shirt or dress or under a coat. www.anthropologie.com/uk/en/product/clothing-kimonos/7115317282201.jsp#/

Also bought these in bronze which I am stupidly in love with. www.jigsaw-online.com/product/camile-pointed-flat/J27418_YE005

Need to put debit card away now...

AmberNectarine · 04/07/2016 22:03

Brilliant flo, love a serendipitous bargain! One of my most worn items is an all saints tuxedo blazer I picked up on eBay for a fiver!

deutschland83 · 04/07/2016 22:33

Dancer I have that dress in a floral print. It's awesome, buy it.

CointreauVersial · 04/07/2016 22:59

Kanye - I tried on that very dress last week. I so nearly bought it, but decided I had enough summer dresses and virtuously put it back. Fits beautifully, doesn't it? And so cheeep!

Hopefully · 05/07/2016 04:52

Have finally done the decent thing and bought the hush dress to try. Discount was crap (only £10 off a £40 dress) so it will have to be lovely to be worth keeping. And I have to pay shipping and probably returns, so all in all I should have bought the bloody thing at 20% off last week as I was told.

My other problem with t-shirts is that I look absolutely appalling in black and white, so most places that do nice basics are out, as they tend to do them in white/black/grey marl/occasionally a frightfully daring navy blue.

Saurus those metallic flats look great. They would be terrible on my ginormous boat feet, but I would envy them on someone with more sensibly sized hooves.
