I hope I have remembered the chosen title correctly - I have used Crem's title (think it was Crem's) as the old thread is full.

Herbs - will be fab to have lots of time en famille in the summer but eek re new job on horizon.

Inspired by CV and Rose I have put 10 things on Ebay. They range from size 10 to 16. WTF.

Exactly what I was thinking BD!

motherinferior · 05/06/2016 17:45

Also, I would say firmly that I am taking dates X and Y as TOIL.

We have been to a sunny Kent village for an indifferent pub lunch and a lovely walk in the sunshine. I am now in my garden sipping champagne. GrinGrin

motherinferior · 05/06/2016 17:47

Oh and I got a picture for my birthday - a British Library framed print of a 'company painting', done by the painters employed by the East India Company to depict everyday life. I love those pics and already have one of them so requested this one to accompany and join the piles of pics we need to put upBlush

bigTillyMint · 05/06/2016 17:52

Sounds lovely MI - enjoy!

Stropperella · 05/06/2016 18:21

Dd's efforts at managing exam stress have produced this today:

The Greatest Crepe
MrsSchadenfreude · 05/06/2016 19:16

Wow, Stropps, that's amazing! Is she taking art as one of her A levels?

DH appears to be slowly getting rid of stuff and putting things in boxes so that we can make some progress with the flat. It's only taken three years to get this far...

Stropperella · 05/06/2016 19:38

Progress, MrsS! It may have been a long time coming, but perhaps sorting out the rest will be faster now that he's actually started?
Dd isn't doing art as one of her A levels and today is the first day she has touched her art materials since GCSEs. I think it's an indicator of how much better she is feeling. I have to hope that the next 3 weeks, which are full of exams, will not knock her back too much.

bigTillyMint · 05/06/2016 19:44

Such a talented girl, Stropps - I'm crossing everythingSmile

Finally, MrsS! Do you think he has been reading this thread?!

Just had our BBQ tea - the only time DH ever cooks, so I think I will be buying some more items.... There is still a lot of laughing and squealing coming from the garden from DD and her friend and DSSmile

herbaceous · 05/06/2016 20:01

What ho, crepeys.

Very glad to hear of Mrs S's boxing DH, Stropps' artistic daughter, and various triumphs.

I am home now. Got here about 2, to a 'welcome home mummy' note on the door form DS, and was dispatched to bed by DP, who then cooked me roast beef and presented me with some flowers, a book and some florentines. My favourite. He really is the best.

Carers have texted me to say all is well, which is reassuring.

I did/do have a very close relationship with both parents, especially DMum, and am basically turning into her. I still crave her approval, and probably never properly became independent, according to some psychobabble, making it extra hard that she's disappearing. I may well feel a lot better once her knee op is over, and she's out the other side. My big fear is her dying under the anaesthetic.

I need to keep myself super-healthy so I don't become a burden to DS. I'm imagining my current levels of sloth and wine consumption aren't the way forward.

bigTillyMint · 05/06/2016 20:04

What a lovely welcome home, Herbs!

Stropperella · 05/06/2016 20:48

Enjoy the tlc, Herbs, that's exactly what you need. Your dp is a star.

NUFC69 · 05/06/2016 20:55

What a lovely welcome, Herbs. Very impressed with DD's talent, Stropps.

DH eventually got home after cycling 113 miles - not bad for a 68 yo! He is now relaxing in the bath before he has dinner. He really enjoyed it, particularly as DS was with him - great father son bonding.

bigTillyMint · 05/06/2016 21:30

NU that sounds both lovely and impressive.
Hope he can walk tomorrowWink!

addle · 05/06/2016 22:03

Mrs S - I hope you've already done it but I agree with BD's message and also MI's suggestion of booking your TOIL asap.

Stropps - lovely picture and hopeful content

NU - v impressive. Hope you had lovely peaceful day of your choice

Herbs - what a lovely, lovely homecoming. You have an imaginative and loving DH.

Beachy - looking forward to the event. will pm you. Is there a nearby pub where football enthusiasts can suffer the England match?

Good luck to all the dc facing exams this week.

S&B news: wore my actual 1940s dress last night and it was really comfortable but does need hardworking underwear to ensure a smooth line underneath, especially if you eat a four course meal with extras in it

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 05/06/2016 22:19

Well done Herbs - sounds like a very good weekends work and congrats to dh for getting it just right!

NU, that is very impressive, for a man of any age, frankly.

Had a lovely day, wallowing in the heat here, with various friends dropping in to hang and jump in the poolish (large round above ground plastic pool about 5 ft deep!). I even went in - it's not heated so major shriek factor.

Dd1 comes home tomorrow and I won't be here to welcome her Sad. I'll be in my stupid office, then staying in a budget hotel. There is nothing about this job that is right, apart from the salary.....

Congrats on the purchasing of the art. I have been known to splash. I blame it on dd1.

So all are welcome to come and wallow here next Saturday. The lovely Addle is coming, which I'm very excited about. Just pray for the weather please.....

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 05/06/2016 22:21

Sorry, cross posted. Not sure of time of match Addle, but just come here and we will bung it on...... all very casual.

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 05/06/2016 22:23

Actually just googled - is it only Sky? We don't have it, but I'll look locally.

Blackduck · 05/06/2016 22:29

Id love to come next weekend but dp is in Stockholm and I fear the transport issues would cause me to explode :(. And I have no tent....

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 05/06/2016 22:35

It's on ITV so man den will be set up in the living room...... There will be others.

I understand transport issues, but we may have spare tents (or even rooms, ssshhh!)

addle · 06/06/2016 07:29

Very kind Beachy. Am excited - will be our first tent outing for over a year. Plenty of time for me to forget exactly how uncomfortable it can be.

bigTillyMint · 06/06/2016 07:33

Crepey ebayers, can I ask a question? I have sold a "lot" of DM's craft items and the winning bid was on Saturday lunchtime. Do I wait for the Paypal to come through before sending off? Do ebay/Paypal alert you when it is paid for? I have not heard anything from the buyer yet AFAIK.

herbaceous · 06/06/2016 08:19

eBay should notify you when it's been paid for, BTM. At that point send it off!

Beachy - not sure I'll make it this weekend. I have no tent, for one, may have to go to parents again, and also have a concert on Sunday. Though it does sound most excellent!

Rosebag · 06/06/2016 08:47

Oh yes, don't send an item before the money's confirmed into your Paypal account. Ebay will email you about this. Then send it within the number of days you agreed on the selling details. Ebay usually emails the buyer to remind them to pay.

Herbs Glad things have settled a bit at DParents, that the carers are reassuring, and that you DP is looking after you!

Envy at Crepeys going to Beachy's I am still in the thick of exams until nearly the end of the month! Boo.

Stropps That art work of DD's is beautiful!

I am still coughing, and it woke me several times last night. I have this wooziness to my head which I can't seem to shake off. And now we seem to have a blessed leak from the bathroom through the kitchen ceiling, but can't tell where it's coming from, the shower or the bath. Double boo.

ON S&B matters, this top arrived from Next. Very boho, flattering and pretty. WIT with rolled up boyfriend jeans Smile I commend it to the house.

wordassociationfootball · 06/06/2016 09:55

Very nice top Rose. You will look lovely in that. I hate leaks. They make me feel highly unsettled.

Lovely painting Stropp's DD. Really flowy and organic and well set out.

I'm waiting for DD2 to wake up (Insect day). I don't usually have to wait, she's a lark but she was on a sleepover Sat night followed by a day at the seaside. She has never slept in this long and I have used the time poorly. Must stir stumps and shower.

Ireland trip is now to Dublin by democratic vote. We like Good Value and Big Breakfasts, en famille, so to partially off-set the cost of the painting I have booked uni campus accommodation that also has a pool - result, for four nights. Would a day trip to Wicklow/Kildare be a good thing to do? I rather fancy so. Any and all other tips gratefully received.

So glad your DP looked after you yesterday Herbs.

NUFC69 · 06/06/2016 10:56

Holiday sounds lovely, WAF - I have never been to either Eire or NI, although in September we are flying to the US via Dublin.

Rose, sorry to hear you are still not feeling well.

DH and I have just had a big shock - BMW main dealer thinks that we should replace the gearbox in the car - £5,000 - faints in shock. Needless to say DH is now doing research about taking it elsewhere.

Beacjy's camping weekend sounds lovely; just too far and no tent here.
