I hope I have remembered the chosen title correctly - I have used Crem's title (think it was Crem's) as the old thread is full.

Herbs - will be fab to have lots of time en famille in the summer but eek re new job on horizon.

Inspired by CV and Rose I have put 10 things on Ebay. They range from size 10 to 16. WTF.

If I've learned one thing about cars NU, it's that one should never listen to the dealership. Total con artists. Mine told me the car needed new brakes - took it to an independent guy, and he said I had 20,000 miles left in them. Dealership told me it needed a full service - independent guy told me it hadn't done enough miles. Nothing in it for independent - he could have done the work and charged me!

Mine is a mere Skoda, rather than BMW, but I'm sure the same applies!

NUFC69 · 06/06/2016 11:25

Yep, you're right, Hebs, although I misquoted dealer:it was actually £5,000 - £6,000! DH has found someone who can replace the part rather than the whole thing. Problem is that BMW aren't releasing the part from Germany: sounds like sharp practice to me. We have got another car, but it's my two seater, not good for transporting DGC.

Cremo · 06/06/2016 12:29

Yes , dealership on commission NU - walk away. boo to the BEamer part. I hate this sort of thing. I sympathise.

Herbs, glad carers are happy enough with the dps. What a heartwarming welcome home. Made me leak a little tear.

Stropps, truly lovely piece by dd. Very expressive, and looks like she put heart and soul into it. More of this sort of thing.!!
It is indeed something that can help her express her inner self , via productive channels. So pleased.

Rose , oh no about the leak. That's all you need. I hope it can be sorted swiftly. Again, of course it would happen in the middle of exams wouldn't it? Sad

So Dublin it is, WAF. Yes a trip to the mountains will be easy. perhaps the Avoca ( gorgeous) or even down to Waterford for the day.
You could look to stay around Dun Laoghaire where you can get the Dart into town very easily, but have the advantage of the seaside and lovely places to eat. Will you get an AirB&B ?

All my current eBay items have gone except two amazing 70s blouses I bought in Berlin. Genuine vintage flower power. I want decent money for them though. Ready to load a few more things and some for DM as well. The. The rest of the gear is winter wear, so will hold off til September.Smile
Taking cat to get now. My most hated thing to do as it upsets poor moggy so.

Cremo · 06/06/2016 12:31

Sorry WAF, meant The Avoca valley

motherinferior · 06/06/2016 19:03

I must make some supper. I must make some supper. I must...must...must....

(I don't want to make supper.)

herbaceous · 06/06/2016 19:23

The one bonus of my hideous sojurn au parents was losing weight. Constant movement, anxiety, no time to eat and small pensioner-style portions had shed 2lbs. Loth to put it straight back on, I promised I'd have a healthy day today. Would have been good, apart from the burrito at lunch, the bounty ice cream on the way home, a remaining florentine, and the fact that DP has made a banana, chocolate and walnut loaf.

Two lovely men have just manhandled my old wardrobe out of the house. Sadly, the new ones aren't finished so our clothes are still in a pile on the floor. And I'm dithering about the necessity of fixing the wardrobes to the wall. Opinion seems to vary from 'do it you irresponsible child-killer' to 'FFS I've had those things for 100 years and they've never so much as wobbled'.

Cremo · 06/06/2016 19:36

If it was me, I wouldn't bother, but then I can be a bit shoddy when it comes to infuriating DIY.Blush

The cat is furious Angry with me. Not only has he had a trip to the vet ( the indignity! ) in the back of the car, on the hottest day of the year so far, but I also put a new bandana collar on him. He is staring at me with daggers in his eyes from under the dining table. Ffs.

Dd due home this weekend. Hopefully this will pass without incident. ( wibble)

MontserratCaballe · 06/06/2016 19:37

Herbs, I wouldn't bother tethering wardrobes to wall. Ds is not a toddler and can be trusted not to mess with them, surely. Will make it easier to move them later should you want to if they are freestanding. I think at times of great stress you follow your appetite so if you need a few treats, have them. You will burn it off soon enough.

I have made a vat of bolognese. It is too close to eat it, alas, and dh now wants salad. We may be eating it from the freezer for some time.

MontserratCaballe · 06/06/2016 19:38

X posts, Crem. I didn't know they made bandanas for cats. Picture? How is dd? And her friend? Is the friend coming too?

addle · 06/06/2016 19:50

Monty - Few things would me make feel happier than to know I had a vat of bolognese in the freezer

Crem - I too would like pic of mortified and pissed-off cat

Any crepeys been to Girona and surrounding area? still wobbling about holiday destinations as prices rocket and budget shrinks. I crave more sunshine and heat

WAF - belated offering support for buying the painting. i've done it once after a glass of wine and despite feeling giddy and incredulous afterwards, have never regretted it

looking forward to w/e - hoping v much there might be another crepey around?

motherinferior · 06/06/2016 20:19

Yes to cat pic. I made a huge avocado-based salad. And am now going to have the last of my birthday champagne having eaten some of the choc DD1 gave me. No wonder I'm a porker.

Having whiffed about going to Beachy's, Mr Inferior has pointed out both girls are on school/DoE trips and has booked us a hotel room in Hay on WyeGrin. An orgy of sedate Crepey pleasures awaits.

NUFC69 · 06/06/2016 20:20

Easy supper tonight: fry some chicken cubes in oil and garlic. Meanwhile cube some melon, slice a couple of kiwis. Put the cooked chicken in a bowl with the fruit, mix in either some honey and mustard or maple and Dijon mustard dressing. Serve warm with lettuce, etc. Dinner sorted.

Crem, fingers crossed re DD.

Lalsy · 06/06/2016 20:41

Crem, fingers crossed for weekend and what is a cat bandana?

MI, how lovely, enjoy.

We tethered where possible - have heard nasty stories and I wasn't sure my dc would consider risks when in the thick of Robin Hood or whatever.

I keep waking up at three or four and then churning over minor worries for hours, then feel dreadful and hungry all next day. I used to do this a lot. Hope it goes away again.

Rose, I hope you are feeling better.

Sorry, catching up with thread.

bigTillyMint · 06/06/2016 21:35

I do this a lotSadAngry

Do you think it is meno related?

Lalsy · 06/06/2016 21:42
Blackduck · 06/06/2016 21:57

I look and feel like Jabba the Hutt...and I have blisters from my new sandals.... (A limping Jabba the Hutt)

I shall diet whilst do is away...

MrsSchadenfreude · 06/06/2016 22:13

Lalsy and BTM - keep a notebook by the bed, write all the worries down and then go back to sleep.

I have been out drinking. But thankfully not as drunk as I was last time I went out with my reprobate friends. Work is completely out of control - far too much to do and no time to do it in. Something has to give, but I don't know what. I am not doing work trip next week (hoorah).

I think my summer is fucked and am going to get a holiday. DD1 is away 19 June to 20 July. DD2 is away 16 July to 30 July and has a friend coming to stAy from 1- 10 August. DH away first two weeks of July. Maybe I can go away on my own in September?

Cremo · 06/06/2016 22:15

I am now entertaining notions of just never eating again. Even my most forgiving of jeans won't do up.

Can't find cat. He's avoiding me. Dh says he cuddled with him on the sofa while I was round at dsisters. What a wee shit.Hmm I'll photograph him when he deigns to turn up......

Auriga · 06/06/2016 23:19

Aurigacat has just emerged from four days and nights in purdah, shut in our bedroom with a litter tray (the indignity) mountains of food, toys and scratch post while DSis2 was here with her terrier. Cat used to vanish for the duration of their visits until we learned to take this precaution. She takes full advantage and parades up and down on our chests and faces all night 😊

Cremo · 07/06/2016 00:00

I feel for you Auriga. We will probably be under similar punishment tonight.
Although cat may decide to wait until 40minutes before the alarm goes off to lick my eyelids. Angry He has previous in this regard.

The Greatest Crepe
MontserratCaballe · 07/06/2016 05:51

What a glorious cat! Love the bandana.

Auriga, hope you are ok Flowers

How are things with DM today, herbs? Thinking of you.

Rose, feeling any better? How is dd getting along? Sending good wishes to all creepy offspring doing exams.

Pleased to report my eBay activity over last week has netted me 80 (eighty, LXXX) quid and some space in the cupboard. Result. Lots more to stick on when I get back from Spain. Only 7 (seven, vii) sleeps to go. Hurray.

motherinferior · 07/06/2016 06:57

I'm joining you in never eating again, Herbs. When I've finished my birthday chocolate.

Off for another Ladyjog, in order to solidify my non-melting flesh...

MrsSchadenfreude · 07/06/2016 08:29

I do like a cat in a bandana. Unfortunately ours doesn't feel the same way.

I have created another box to sit above the four usual "urgent and important", "urgent, not important" and have called it "stuff boss wants me to do, regardless,"

Dreamqueen · 07/06/2016 08:45

Addle I've been to Gerona. Flew to Barcelona and took the super fast (clean) train to Gerona. I booked apartment ob airbnb. It was very central & lovely but reasonable cost. ( 3 bedrooms, funrinshed nicely for under 60euros a night)
Girona has nice restaurants & a lovely daily market in the centre of town.

Cremo · 07/06/2016 09:15

Addle my friend lives in the area and just bought a house in a beautiful village. Will quiz him about pretty places and advice and report back.
