To me Aromatics in Black smelled like Avon Mesmerise Black For Her, but AIB is about £40 more. It was all plum and vanilla and very synthetic smelling. Aromatics in White was lovely and smelled like a Serge Lutens but I can't pinpoint which one.

FrustratedFrugal · 18/03/2016 17:20

Feawen I've been trying to piece together the smells of my childhood and Oscar is the missing piece (together with L'Air du Temps). That bottle was everywhere! Would love to smell it again...

Another day with Défilé New York. Didn't find my rhubarbs this morning, maybe I will tomorrow.

YetAnotherNC · 18/03/2016 18:48

Currently wearing Loewe Gala layered with Theo Fennel Scent. I love this combination so much I have mixed up my own decant in a tiny atomiser bottle (hoping the ingredients don't "fight" in some way and ruin each other! Hmm. I like the slightly grubby edge that Scent gives to the lushness of Gala.

I also have the remnants of Shalimar just drifting up to my nose every so often. I do love it, but I find it similar to Le Labo Labdanum on me, so I shall refrain from buying any more than a sample at the moment. But I would like to try a vintage version of it; I am intrigued as to whether I would smell the difference and which I would prefer. Seems somehow more romantic to have the vintage product.

FrustratedFrugal · 19/03/2016 08:23

YetAnother I love your custom mix. That's why I love perfume: you can explore what works for you and make it your own.

I'm wafting about in a cloud of Diorissimo. This must be the ultimate spring perfume. Everything feels a little better, it is airy and uplifting and vouluminous in a gauzy, delicate way. Must wear this more often!

FrustratedFrugal · 19/03/2016 08:23

Sorry about silly typos

MrsCocoa · 20/03/2016 02:09

Awful week at work so have consoled myself tonight with a few hours playing with the 4160 Tuesday's chemistry set (truly it is like meditation, only better). Inspired by Frugal's description of Yatagan, and Luca Turin's descriptions of Knize Ten/Cuir de Russie/Tabac Blond, I have broken open the leather (one of the notes I've stayed away from so far). Have mixed it with tarry woods and aromatic herbs and moss. It's turned out surprisingly cool and airy - but I need to leave it for a couple of weeks and come back to it.

StUmbrageinSkelt · 20/03/2016 07:40

I'm in love with Amouage's Jubilation 25.

VeryPunny · 20/03/2016 10:20

PSA: all beauty.com have some great bargains in their sale. Just picked up Caligna 50ml EDP for £31!

maryclarey · 20/03/2016 11:33

Hi everyone, I've had a lot of crap going on so not felt like posting for a bit. Potentially facing redundancy so have been proper fed up tbh! However I have an interview next week so feeling a bit better 😊

SOTD is going to be MFK Baccarat Rouge 540 when I can get my ass into the shower Grin

Crapartist offering my sympathies, we've just gone through that at work too. It is awful for everyone. Hope you'll interview goes well!

Both children have been a bit poorly, and I am feeling a bit queasy too. Hope I am not ruining Diorissimo by wearing it now, only have a small sample and was thinking of using it up in the coming week.

FrustratedFrugal · 20/03/2016 14:55

StUmbrage Amouage Jubilstion 25 is fantastic.

getoffthattabletnow · 20/03/2016 16:02

Started off with Jardin Mystique and forgot I had perfume on so topped it off with vintage Samsara.
I now smell a bit strange.
Crapartist I hope things improve for you.Good luck for your interview.

MrsCocoa · 20/03/2016 18:54

Iyame - I noticed Baldessarini in the All Beauty sale.

Snifffed last night's creation this afternoon and all I can smell is a single monster leather note. (A bit like realising you've bought the wrong fish after it' eats everything else in the tank). Needs a re-think...

Hope everyone has a better week.

YetAnotherNC · 21/03/2016 10:04

SOTD 1970s vintage Miss Dior. Wow, all I can smell is bitter green celery, possibly some daffodil.... Not my best perfume experience. My mum gave me a few unopened perfumes she had dug out after we had been chatting about fragrances. I was really excited to try this, but ugh, it just doesn't seem to work on me. Trying to resist the scrub....! Confused

YetAnotherNC · 21/03/2016 10:13

And I'm waiting very VERY impatiently for a vintage bottle of Shalimar parfum to arrive in the post. Come on Postie.... Will it be today....?

YetAnotherNC · 21/03/2016 12:01

Yes, it's here, thank you postie for my vintage Shalimar. It's wonderful, but why oh why is it the fragrances we love that have the least "punch". I have to search for the scent on me, whereas I really want to waft about in a massive fragrant cloud!

LovelyFriend · 21/03/2016 12:13

SOTD - nothing!!!

Holy crap - we dashed out the door this morning with me shouting "We're late for school"!
I must have an emergency sample in my desk somewhere.
BRB

LovelyFriend · 21/03/2016 12:19

ah that is better.
SOTD is Atelier Cologue - Pomelo Paradis. Grapefruit & it's lovely.

Did you all know Mrs Gloss & the Goss did a workshop at 4160 Tuesdays and she made them a scent?? www.indiegogo.com/projects/mrsglossmademedoit--2#/

I wonder if enough Viper Perfumistas would be interested in doing something similar (4160 Tuesdays are based in West London)? I do think it could be lots of fun, and though there is also a risk of creating something a bit Lowest Common Denominator, we might come up with a really cool Viper Venom.

maryclarey · 21/03/2016 15:38

Hope everyone's having a good week so far...

SOTD is Carner Barcelona Tardes which is a creamy almondy heliotrope and a lovely comforting scent.

getoffthattabletnow · 21/03/2016 15:51

Jardin Mystique again.Just seems appropriate at the moment. This weeks definitely started off better.I think the stars were aligned badly last week as lots of people had a really rubbishy week.

FrustratedFrugal · 21/03/2016 16:52

LovelyFriend our landlady in Italy moved around in a cloud of Shalimar, the sillage was quite something. Not sure whether it was vintage or not but she herself was pretty vintage.

Another day wearing Diorissimo EDT. It is pretty but fleeting.

Feawen · 21/03/2016 19:15

Frugal, if I dared raid my mother's bottle of Oscar, I would do it for you ;). I lack the courage (and suspect you would find the re formulation disappointing, alas). I dare say it wouldnt stand direct comparison to the original but it's become as familiar to me over the years.

Sotd is Jo Malone's Red Roses. I like it, it's slightly waxy, and it works for work, but I really prefer something a bit muskier with a little bit of spice to it. This could almost be rose water. I'll be sad when my sample has gone but don't think I'll be buying a bottle.

YetAnotherNC · 21/03/2016 20:49

Does anyone else have skin that seems to just shrug perfume off? I put scent on, 2 hours later, if I'm lucky, it might just be hanging in there, but I get none of the sillage, projection, longevity that people talk about. What is wrong with my skin?!? The only fragrance that doesn't do a disappearing act is Salome. Which I love, but I don't want to wear it all the time.... Confused Any tips...?

MrsCocoa · 21/03/2016 22:37

Yes yes to a viper venom session with Sarah at 4160 Tuesdays!! Although not sure we could collaborate on a single scent...those workshops are very intense and we're all individually very passionate about smells....

VeryPunny · 22/03/2016 09:38

SoTD is Tom Ford Fleur de Portofino. Very melony.
