SotD in our house is still Theo Fennell's Scent (its longevity is measured in days/weeks rather than hours).

YetAnotherNC · 15/03/2016 07:12

I'm going for multiple SOTDs today. Going to try layering some of my samples. It's my birthday, but STBX-thoughtless-git-of-a-H has not helped the DSs do anything, so no cards or presents from them (but puzzled, upset questions as to why mummy hasn't got any cards). And the smallest has a revolting temperature so no school for them today. That's effectively scuppered any hope of birthday treats for me, so I'm going to practically drown myself in perfume and hope it has the side effect of fumigating the smallest so they can go to school tomorrow!

VeryPunny · 15/03/2016 10:01

Happy Birthday YANC!

SoTD is Penhaligon's Satorial following a visit to them yesterday. It's mellowed a lot from home to work; it's a perfect workday scent.

How do people store their stashes? Small bottles are distributed around various knicker/sock drawers, larger bottles on the dresser (in their boxes so no light). I may have to sort mine by season and then rotate. Hmmm.

YetAnotherNC · 15/03/2016 11:21

Loving a mixture of Loewe Gala and Le Labo Labdanum. Makes a very smooth and warm scent, and gives the Labdanum some lovely floral topnotes.
My small ill person can't smell anything apparently, so I'm safe to try layering up a few more fragrances without asphyxiating him!

FrustratedFrugal · 15/03/2016 16:41

YetAnotherNC CakeWineFlowers for you!

I'm wearing Le Temps d'Une Fête today - weirdly fecal notes of narcissus wrapped in layers and layers of moss and creamy sandalwood. Not the best day for me either, one child down with the flu, DH in Africa, layoffs taking effect at work, and various other setbacks - trying to take it in stride.

leedy · 15/03/2016 16:58

I have larger bottles in their boxes either on the dresser or in a larger box under the dresser, samples currently in a bag in a drawer. Also probably need to do some organization by season as stuff keeps disappearing into the depths of the box...

SOTD is Olfactive Studio's Flashback, which is yummy rhubarb and vetiver.

CointreauVersial · 15/03/2016 23:48

I love that one, leedy!

My "stash" is 95% samples and decants, so I invested in some great stacking boxes from Muji which nest nicely in one of the drawers in my bedroom.

SOTD is Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Nil. Not desperately appropriate for the time of year, but even though it is light and citrus it has a warm heart.

getoffthattabletnow · 16/03/2016 08:26

I rotate mine by season so have about 10 bottles out on my dressing table at any one time.Plus assorted samples, decants - all on a glass tray. The rest are stored in a cool marble lined cabinet in their boxes.I use Jo Malone boxes for samples. One for samples I really dislike and can be passed on and one for unseasonable samples/decants I love.
SOTD is Calycanthus by Acca Kappa - a heady floral combo.Yesterday I wore vintage Crabtree and Evelyn Gardenia - full-on,indolic,strong Gardenia wow.
Hope everyone has a better day today.Belated birthday wishes to YetanotherNC.

cressetmama · 16/03/2016 08:42

Wow, a marble lined cabinet for scent storage! I am impressed, as mine live in old pencil cases and plastic boxes and the bathroom cabinet.

No SoTD yet, as I have a cold and can't smell much. DS' maths teacher has summoned us to an after school conference at 5.00 to tell us where he's going wrong so I shall need courage for that.

I add my belated birthday greeting to YetAnotherNC. Hope you had a lovely day.

Flowers to Frugal; hope things cheer up for you very soon.

VeryPunny · 16/03/2016 08:49

Thanks for all the storage hints. Think a trip to Muji is in order - I love their zip up PP bags for make up as well. getoffthattabletnow - your marble lined cabinet sounds fabulous! CointreauVersial - I love Un Jardin Sur Le Nil (indeed, most of the Jardin series) - it was what really got me into perfume!

SOTD is Premier Figuier. More coconutty than figgy to my mind.

getoffthattabletnow · 16/03/2016 09:03

No,it's not fabulous.Just my bedside tables are antique French cabinets with a marble lining for the potty. Its the best place to store perfumes to keep them cool .Whilst trying not to think what was in them before.
Cressetmama I have a son like that too.Just done badly in his exams and its not bothered by anything
But he's only 11! but unfortunately has a shit-hot twin sister with lots of drive that shows him up.

cressetmama · 16/03/2016 09:46

DS is 16 and in the first year of A levels. It's not gone well so far, but I think the school has to take some of the blame as he does work, although not quite hard enough.

I have chosen the Bvlgari Eau de The Bleu for SoTD, and after taking a cold n flu tablet, I can even smell myself!

YetAnotherNC · 16/03/2016 11:19

Thanks for the birthday wishes.... Smile

Been for a refreshing run in some spring sunshine, and now SOTD is Tauer's LADDM. This was the fragrance that brought me to this thread and the start of the slippery perfume slope for me!

My fragrances are stored in a tin (samples), and full bottles in a drawer in my chest of drawers (ones I'm not currently wearing) or on top of the dressing table, so I can see the lovely bottles (I know, I know, should keep them out of the light, but I manage to use them fairly fast so not too worried about them going off and I like to look at the sparkly bottles).

Have a lovely fragrant day people.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 16/03/2016 12:07

My Sotd is Seville a' l'aube because it's not raining for the first time in a week here!

It is now mixing rather nicely with Laura Biagotti Roma which I had a squirt of in a shop to see why it's mentioned so often as underrated but rather pleasant. It was horrible and acrid green at first, but is now lovely and powdery and Obsessiony almost.

leedy · 16/03/2016 12:24

SOTD is Jo Malone Nasturtium and Clover, which I LOVE. Definitely the nicest thing they've done in ages. It's really green and peppery and fresh-but-not-sweet-or-citrus. Quite reminiscent of a now discontinued Chloe scent (whose name I can't remember) that also had nasturtiums in it.

CointreauVersial · 16/03/2016 13:28

ThenLater - Roma Uomo was one of DH's faves back in the day, but I haven't seen a bottle for years. I'm quite tempted to buy one on Amazon/eBay to see if it still appeals.

I don't mind the women's version, but I have a slightly arms-length relationship with it, because LB was one of my brands when I worked in the fragrance industry. That and Giorgio Beverly Hills. The smell of many of them takes me back to the office!

shins · 16/03/2016 16:27

Carnal Flower because it's spring. Bit much for an open plan office!

FrustratedFrugal · 17/03/2016 16:02

3rd day with Le Temps d'Une Fête!
Tomorrow, either En Passant or the rhubarby goodness of Aedes de Venustas.

YetAnotherNC · 17/03/2016 20:22

SOTD Shalimar. Yum.

Feawen · 17/03/2016 20:57

I stole borrowed two sprays of my mums Oscar this morning (I attended an evening event for work last night, and stayed at her house afterwards, because it's comparatively near the venue). It was her signature scent when I was a little girl. I remember her coming home from work on winter evenings, always wearing a sharp suit, smelling of cold night air and Oscar, and thinking how glamorous and important my mum was.

I got through a staggering amount of work this morning and think I might have to keep some in my desk drawer from now on!

CointreauVersial · 17/03/2016 21:50

SOTD - Clinique Aromatics in White.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 18/03/2016 06:19

Feawen, is that the 1980s one? I had some of that. I've been looking through old photos with friends and rather than concentrating on the bad hair and even worse dress sense, we've all been going "what is that bottle on that shelf behind your head?" Grin

I had a sinus-migraine yesterday so my only Sotd was Olbas Oil but yesterday afternoon an almost full bottle of one of my first loves Ysatis (1980s original version) arrived from Germany, so, because I have a staff meeting with a very young, bodycon Shock clad headteacher this afternoon, I shall knock her dead with my 80s powerhouse.

MissBattleaxe · 18/03/2016 08:17

Cointreau- I love that one. I did not love Aromatics in Black however. It was awful!

getoffthattabletnow · 18/03/2016 11:51

Friedemodin's Jardin Mystique today.I'm so glad I bought a bottle of this. Its similar in vibe to Ysl's In Love Again but I'm not anosmic to this Luckily. Its such a beautiful combination of blackcurrant,Jasmine and Lily of the valley.

CointreauVersial · 18/03/2016 13:09

MissB, I haven't tried Aromatics in Black yet - every tester I've tracked down seemed to be empty (clearly someone is loving it).

Ysatis - no, no, no......can't go back there, I'm afraid. It was one of my first loves too, but I wore it to death. I really can't bear it now. In Love Again, however, I can happily still wear.

SOTD is Paul Smith Rose. Sweet, fresh and uncomplicated, just like me, haha.
