Chanel Beige today - it's beautiful.Given that I adore the smell of Hawthorn wafting from the hedgerows when I walk the dog ( often bury my nose in it) and Frangipani is one of my favourite notes this is musky and softly sensuous and easy to wear. Its not a knock out but melds with the warmth of your body beautifully.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 07/06/2016 21:25

That sounds delicious teta. One thing I always adore about spring and summer -all the seasons to be fair - is walking along country lanes and drinking in the myriad of scents. I often wish I could find perfume to remind me of those live walks.

I wonder why it is called Beige...it seems like a funny name for a perfume.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 07/06/2016 21:26

Oops lovely walks I mean!!! I wish my phone would quit talking over me Grin.

pensivepolly · 07/06/2016 21:28

Chanel No 22: now extinct, I believe Sad
I like 1000 by Jean Patou, especially in this warmer weather

thecatfromjapan · 07/06/2016 21:37

I just nipped in to say 'Thank you' for the "Fire' recommendation. It has to be the bargain of the century. It really is very good!

I wore Jo Malone 'Mimosa and Cardamom' today. It really comes alive in the sun, which is odd because it wasn't a summer release iirc. It folded around me in the warmth today, in a really lovely, soft cloud.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 07/06/2016 21:38

Stokey what about Agent Provocateur?

Chicinwellies · 07/06/2016 23:02

Where is the best UK site to buy a wide range of samples from? Also has anybody tried Stella McCartney Pop?

MissBattleaxe · 08/06/2016 08:16

Hi Chicinwellies and welcome!

Try:

-Les Senteurs
-The Perfume Society Discovery Boxes ( 12 samples chosen with a theme)
-4160 Tuesdays sells sample sets of their stuff and you can buy decants of classic and vintage scent too from her "Wall of Scent"
-PellWall perfumes has a good sample service of Pell Wall fragrances.
-eBay is good
-I think there are some overseas companies that ship to the UK but I'm not clear which ones.
-The Fragrance Shop does a quarterly Discovery Box, usually new releases and usually mainstream for £5 every 3 months.

YetAnotherNC · 08/06/2016 09:53

www.scentsamples.uk.com/ are also very good for samples. You can buy smaller 1 or 2ml or larger quantities and they have a pretty wide selection of fragrances.

MissBattleaxe · 08/06/2016 11:24

Ooh, thanks YetAnotherNC!

cressetmama · 08/06/2016 20:17

Infusions d'Iris today. Lovely and very subtle, it's the first time I've sampled it properly.

I'm on the side of Teta and LastGirl who like the scent of hawthorn in the hedgerows. Eau d'Hiver comes close, but I have a candle (St Eval) that purports to be hawthorn, and misses.

Stokey · 08/06/2016 22:32

Thanks MissB, I've ordered Fire, impressed by the love for it on here.
And I have been meaning to try Agent Provocateur for ages Lastgirl, so will have a spray next time I'm passing as it did sound right up my street.

KittyHello · 09/06/2016 17:15

Hello, can I gate crash and ask a question please?

I've fallen in love with Tom Ford Neroli Portofino and it's a lot cheaper on the All Beauty website than the usual suspects, J Lewis, Selfridges etc. I've bought shampoo from AB before and am happy with their products but am a bit hesitant about buying the Tf perfume, mainly because it is expensive, for me, so obviously I want to know I'm getting the real deal and not maybe one that's past its sell by date!

What would you suggest? Go for it or stick to the larger retailers?

MsBojangles · 09/06/2016 17:27

Hi Kitty, I've bought a hideous amount lot from AB and it's all been absolutely perfect.

Go for it and have a spray for me, it's gorgeous! Apparently the EDP lasts a lot longer so that might be something to bear in mind.

KittyHello · 09/06/2016 17:43

Thank you MsBojangles

cressetmama · 09/06/2016 18:09

SoTD: Fire. Flowers to the early adopters here. It is so easy to wear, and a bargain too. If only all perfume choices were so straightforward and cheap. Doubtless there are plans to discontinue it as it's too good to last.

teta · 09/06/2016 18:23

L Eau d serge Lutens today.I've done a couple of swops so I'm working my way through the samples.I felt a bit sick after a while so l 'eau is clean ,mellow, soothing and refreshing in warm weather. Its one of those perfumes that come alive as the temperature rises.

All beauty is really reliable but Beauty Spin is very good for niche's and really well priced.

MissBattleaxe · 09/06/2016 19:29

I can vouch for allbeauty. The reason they're cheap is because they have low overheads, not because they're dodgy. I'm a very loyal customer.

wiltingfast · 10/06/2016 16:14

I've bought from All Beauty too, no problem. Would not hesitate to use it again Smile

cresset your RL Safari arrived safely, thank you! It is lovely! It is much less green than I expected, v warm and floral. I can really smell the hyacinth and rose. I think the Tonka BEan then is what is softening it. Beautiful. Thank you, I will root in my sample drawers and see if I can rustle up something to send you in return.

SOTD Elizabeth Arden Green Tea. One of my Summer favourites but it is really astringent compared to Safari. The bergamot, rhubarb and mint are strong in this one! It has faded to a nicely fresh floral now.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 10/06/2016 17:00

Damn you all with your Beauty Spin link. I didn't need to know that site existed. Those samples! And I am in the UK in 3 weeks! So will be able to order the lot!

Has anyone tried L'air du rien? I read the review yesterday and it's gone on da list.

SoTD was Givenchy III I am thinking I might have a squirt of Eau de Gucci after my shower.

cressetmama · 10/06/2016 17:11

wilting, glad it arrived okay and [happy] that it pleases you. I remembered it being greener all those years ago but now find the hyacinth a bit much, although I love tonka bean without reservations.

SoTD is the R&G Osmanthus, which is as floral and pretty as I go, but it's still quite green. It would have been better worn yesterday, as Cornwall has gone back to its usual mild grey dampness, with rain and wind forecast for the weekend. My hand wavered over several possibles this morning. The Infusion d'Iris in particular has got under my skin, and is digging in; I may have to search for a decant.

cressetmama · 10/06/2016 17:11

Smile doh!

cressetmama · 10/06/2016 17:31

You are dangerous enablers! Who mentioned Beautyspin? I was in blissful ignorance of its existence before today, and I can see that it could be £££.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 10/06/2016 17:39

Cresset, cover your eyes! It has niche samples! And they are very reasonable. My 2 real life perfumista friends are also cursing me because I sent them the link as well!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 10/06/2016 17:41

Beautyspin are deadly for the loose-of-pocket me GrinGrin
SOTD Seville a l'Aube, which is yummy in the sun. Though, like all L'APs on me (bar Tea for Two and Bois Farine) it has no longevity.

Yesterday was a sample of Noir Exquis - isn't it meant to be coffee? It was marshmallow and chocolate on me! Too sweet even for me!
