today i am not wearing shop bought perfume but a mix i made of my own from essential oils. it is sweet orange, mandarin and patchouli. the orange and mandarin gave it some lift and some sparkle in the first few hours and have mellowed out the patchouli to make it a bit less heavy and more wearable all day. i put it on at 8am this morning and i'm still catching quite intense whiffs of it when i move now. overall pretty pleased and hoping to be as successful with my next blend

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 02/06/2016 18:58

Ah, thanks for the MMM decoding!
SOTD is one of the new samples I just got from LuckyScent (incidentally, SO bored now of samples being so expensive when you factor in the stupid post/customs charges). It's Maison de la Vanille, Vanille Sauvage de Madagascar (or words to that effect).
It's lovely, almost like Mona di Orio Vanilla, but no longevity or sillage, sadly. A really dry, woody, incense vanilla.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 02/06/2016 20:20

SOTD is Lanvin Eclat D'arpege...it's one of my all time favourites for summer! Like a dewy summer morning meadow. And pretty inexpensive as well!

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 02/06/2016 21:08

Spent the day at the in laws country villa picking cherries and mulberries so Seville a l'Aube seemed appropriately mediterranean for sotd.

MsBojangles · 03/06/2016 11:59

That sounds absolutely idyllic ThenLater, you've inspired me to wear Seville today... I may even trot down to Sainsbury's later and pick up some cherries, not quite the same but the sun is out and I've got a good imagination Grin

MsBojangles · 03/06/2016 12:03

I have that Lanvin one too LastGirl, it's a very easy and pretty. Wonder if it's on the discontinued list, the online shops are virtually giving it away!

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 03/06/2016 12:07

Grin unfortunately MIL's presence makes it slightly less idyllic but the old girl makes a good foccaccia.

Cresset! I got home today to find 2 packages....one was yours Flowers thank you so much, am transported back to 1992 immediately! The other is also yours Angry bloomin' local post office had burst the jiffy bag in their franking machine and it got stopped and returned to sender! The contents are intact though- and I shall repost tomorrow slipping in the tiny few drops of MMM that I still have!

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 03/06/2016 12:12

Yes I noticed that MsB. I snapped up another bottle just in case. Should be here next week.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 03/06/2016 19:49

SOTD Gris Clair (SL), which I got a near full bottle of from eBay for £30. Perfect for headachey, cold, rainy day.

cressetmama · 03/06/2016 21:42

I succumbed to the charm of Fire today. One spritz, and I still get it 11 hours on.... for £19.50! It is such a bargain. Very delighted, and Flowers to you all. Plus, a 40 minute chat to the delightful Fragrance Shop manager, one to one (9.05 am as I was killing time waiting for DH to be sorted out at the eye hospital) and lots of spraying and sniffing. She even had coffee beans to clear the olfactories in between. I may have to stop being rude about them (though the lady was quite forthright about her average customer).

MsBojangles · 05/06/2016 12:39

It's hot and I'm basted in Debased.

cressetmama · 05/06/2016 19:59

And how is Debaser in the sun, MsB? My finger is poised on a decant.

No serious post to offer as DH had one of his eyes fixed on Friday (cataracts) and is feeling needy. We have a couple of weeks before the second is done and he can move on.

Had to mess around with my Travalo bottle today, so the scent is Serpentine, because that's what was in the roll on.

cressetmama · 05/06/2016 20:00

It is lovely, regardless.

MsBojangles · 05/06/2016 20:37

I wouldn't know, I don't do direct sunlight Grin It's remained very fresh and green all day though, nothing cloying or sickly about it.

Best wishes to DH, something so very vulnerable about the eyes isn't there...at least he'll know what to expect next time x

MissBattleaxe · 06/06/2016 09:24

SOTD Carven Ma Griffe from Ther Perfume Society Discovery Box. Although mossy chypres are my favourite genre, I don't love it as much as I thought. Maybe it's better in coled weather? Still a great though.

MsBojangles · 06/06/2016 12:14

Time to crack open the old Bronze Goddess I think Grin

teta · 06/06/2016 12:37

I'm digging out brambles and smell hot and sweaty. But I'm having a tea break and enjoying the scent of the heady White Wisteria growing up our house.Heavy white lace is glowing prettily in the sun and obscuring our lounge window - it needs propping up.The perfume might cheer the kids up when they're having their piano lesson tonight.
Last night Yves Rocher's Lilas Mauve was sprayed abundantly on the sheets and myself. Its wonderfully cooling in muggy weather.

cressetmama · 06/06/2016 20:29

Prada Infusion d'Iris is wonderful with Flora Psychedelica, I discovered accidentally. I am swooning now; however, but I don't love either separately. I forget I had sampled the Prada, and looked at the FP and sprayed a bit... it is a match made in heaven.

cressetmama · 06/06/2016 20:32

Somehow the combination fills in all the shortcomings. And it's very stable on the skin.

Oh, and there's a superfluous but in my previous post!

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 06/06/2016 21:11

I got a sample of 007 for Women in the post today!! It's in a little plastic packet so keeping it for tomorrow. Quite excited! I wonder if I will feel like a female Sean Connery? Let's hope NOT!!! Grin

Has anyone else tried one?

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 06/06/2016 21:13

Tried 007 I mean??Blush

MsBojangles · 07/06/2016 11:54

Think I automatically chucked my 007 samples in the bin, the name alone put me off Blush

Wearing the Perfume Parlour knock off Neroli Portofino roll on oil today, it's really v good. If only the real thing lasted so well cost so little ,the bottle is to die for!

Stokey · 07/06/2016 17:44

Hi perfumistas, I randomly lurk on your thred andhave posted a couple of times.

My two favourite perfumes are Potrait of a Lady and L' Air du Desert Morocain. But they're a bit pricey. I've just ordered more samples of each and will buy a full bottle if I ever start working again, but in the meantime was wondering if you could recommend something else I may like in a slightly lower price range?

I've tried quite a few of the 4160 ones too. My favourite is probably the Ealing Green, but none of them have great longevity on me.

MissBattleaxe · 07/06/2016 18:05

Hi Stokey!

If you like long lasting incense-y spice, may I recommend Mary Greenwell Fire from The Fragrance Shop? It's 19.50 and I've been recommending it like a fumehead fiend as it's so good.

I haven't tried Portrait of A Lady, but there are experts on here who I'm sure can help.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 07/06/2016 18:38

Haha MsB...I should perhaps have done the same. It was a slightly irritating scent...a little like Hanae Mori but not as warm or pleasant. I was pretty happy when it wore off and could spray on Green Tea.
