Well, I've grabbed the bull by the horns & am leaping into the new thread........

Felt very sad no one else had started one whilst I scoffed dined.

If no one like the title I am more than happy to have it deleted & go with anything else.

DH has taken over the catering for the month of February......... the food is good but the angst is another matter Grin

Happy Mother's Day, Crepeys.

Do the French do it today, HM?

I've got dd1 at home this weekend, pre an interview locally, which is lovely St Davids

Operation slowly healing, although dd2 found a bit of string coming out of my tummy button last night! Maybe she's knitted it all up in there Confused not sure I'm up for having any more done, TBH. It has taken an age to get over and dh has been spectacularly unhelpful. Why don't they have seaside convalescent homes any more? Tea, toast and bracing walks....

You've been amazing BTM. I'm glad you've managed to see where she is and be satisfied with her room etc.

I've missed loads of people out, sorry, but looking forward to Saturday. I'm up for meeting earlier, as wont be able stay monstrously late due to trains... Dh is already fussing about what time I'm leaving, as he's suddenly been put on call and is horrified I haven't cancelled my evening......so I'll probably be there about 4pm Grin

We can compare scars, Beachy, as I'm having my tit done on Friday. Grin

I sent my mother some flowers for Mothers' Day via Interflora. They were rather small, apparently, so she has put them in the hall. And was very disappointed to have received no card. "All of her friends" had commented and had asked where my card was. Oh what a shame I hadn't sent one. She then shot herself in the foot by saying she hadn't seen anyone all week.

I have been to Next, and bought a pair of jeans but not sure about modern-ness of shape. They are a 7/8 flare (!) I like them, but others may view them as a bit Man Friday. Not sure.
The assistants in Next were extraordinarily helpful ( customer service Star) And I don't hand those out very often frankly.Smile
I have Uniqlo in my sights for next Saturday dash Lalsy. Have a list of requests from friends for items not available in local shopping area. Will be doing what I can, but tbh there's this thing called the internet where I find nearly everything you desire can be fulfilled.Grin

Today I am mainly trying not to collapse. I have a horrible head cold which is giving me horrendous chills and flushes . Was in M&S yesterday and thought I'd forgotten to stick on the old HRt patch, so forceful was the heated flush.( sweat trickling down face) but no tis the cold.
Am doing afternoon tea for DM and dsis plus unknown Others ( dad? Nieces nephews? Bil?)
So am standing here shiveringly making cucumber sandwiches. Dh made a big cake yesterday and the rest will Blushbe St Michael I'm afraid. I'm too tired to give one tbh.

Gosh I Love Trapped. It has really developed , and the characters become more and more interesting. 8/10 on the Cremo Scandi Crime Scale. Not enough humor for a 9. But brilliant all the same.

Grinning at Crem giving out stars and marks out of ten.

My mother's day 10/10 so far. slouched in bed emailing lovely friend and listening to Christine and The Queens (Hatty? French hitmaker. VG) on Spotify (v loud, so I'm not sure how massively I honked at Mrs S's mums no stars nought out of ten mother's day efforts. Mrs S just want to give you a massive hug. The fact that you are acknowledged for your morale boosting at work with your not so DM speaks so ten out of tenly of you).

My mum slept through my visit yesterday. So I ate all the Green & Blacks I'd taken her that she wasn't bothered about. Fair cop, I reckon Grin I am sad and cross with the hospital. She's told me that both physio sessions have made her scream and I can see she's not engaged with her exercises. A quick chat with nurse revealed she could be having morphine before sessions. Er, yeah, that might be a good idea. Surely as a physio you say, my work is essential to recovery. This person is in too much pain, they will need more pain relief so I can help them. She will be so much stiffer than she would have been if they'd been proactive. Oops, forgot to breathe for about the last minute....

Going to get up - maybe- in a bit. Do a Davina workout. Have a bath. Eat some pizza then take dd2 to her Young Drivers session at Bluewater. Chrimbo prezzie. Had to cancel previous cos she was ill.

I like the bag, too, MrsS. Sorry that DM has been miserable again.

WAF, please try to get your DM some help with the physio - it's so important after replacement surgery. I had what we thought was issues with pain killers after my op, I found out three years later that I had been having gallstone problems. I would imagine the exercise is even more important when you're older. Thanks What I am saying was my problems with pain killers didn't help me with exercising.

We're going to DD's for lunch, so I have made an apple pie to take round, plus mince pies (DH's request) and chocolate brownies. Having a well earned rest now. I have had a text from Jamaica pointing me in the direction of a nicely wrapped present from them.

It's not HIM is it?

Beachy, sorry it's taken so long to recover. And for your useless DH (there are a few of them on this thread!) - definitely see you there for pre-dinner drinks. And you MrsS - will you be recovering from a GA?

Just had a lovely long catch-up with a friend (mostly chatting about similarly challenged DM's) and come back to a beautiful bunch of flowers and homemade card from the DCSmile

And no, no GA, but just a revolting procedure under a local. They are going to keep me in the hospital for about an hour afterwards. I react v badly to anaesthetic, even local ones, and am either sick or faint or both.

MrsS. that's good re it not being a GA - no problem drinking on Saturday! And what a small worldShock!

I have been out decimating pruning in the garden with secateurs and a saw. Very therapeutic, and gave my arms a good workout!

Sorry you're still not feeling good, Beachy.

I am just back from an excellent lunch cooked by my excellent DSiL. DD had been almost in tears with the Mothering Sunday card from DGS, just turned 5. "To mummy. Happee Muthurzz Day, Love DGS". Grin All his own work, though he did tell me that some of the words were not right, but I thought it was a pretty good attempt.

Happy Mother's Day, crepeys! I've been treated to breakfast in bed, a bunch of flowers and some perfume from my lovely lot. Also a slightly cheeky card with a picture of a mother and daughter shopping for clothes, with the motto "Buy now, Dad can pay later".Hmm It's not all roses, though; we spent a stinking hour this afternoon trying (but failing) to unblock the kitchen drain, before giving up and retiring to the sofa with tea and salted caramel eclairs from Waitrose.

In S&B News, I've bagged a gorgeous party dress on eBay which will solve my clothing crisis for the College dinner. It cost less than a fiver - it's red, with a midi-length pleated floaty skirt, a plain top and cap sleeves. It needs a bit of creative tit taping to hide my bra, but that's all. Dead chuffed.

Hi Crepey Mothers. Nice day here - ds1 acquitted himself well by sending a card from University and commissioning (?sp?) ds2 to buy lovely plant in pot and smelly candle in glass as joint present from the two of them. Ds2 was persuaded away from his "mountains of work" to come out for brunch with his loving parents and then dh and me went for a most satisfactory mooch with ddog around some marvellously hipster shops in E London. I may have bought a fabulous outfit... I will wear it next Saturday to show you all. I am v pleased with it!

Off to bed with a tissue in each nostril , as now streaming cold with added shivers. No doubt my raspberry tartes and mini eclairs have passed on the nasty bugs Mother's Day love.
Glad various dcs redeemed themselves.
I don't expect anything, but got a special Auntie card from dd, and she is coming home for a weekend soon,.Wink

Otoh the 'helpful' emails continue, complete with request to respond to say I've got them. The latest is my mum's SIL who is a doctor in India (a pretty senior one). She has emailed me and another doc friend who is going to visit (because he 'has worked in the NHS and can advise me') about getting an oxygen cylinder for my mother at home. On the basis that the alternative would be death in hospital. She helpfully gives contact details for another former student of hers who lives near Norwich and is a GP and 'can advise on home care'.

I cannot express how hassled and annoyed this has made me.

I would be feeling quite stabby at this point, MI. Do you have some nice, anaesthetising gin? Can you, say, only look at the emails once a day, to confine the stress?

I am tired and not looking forward to work tomorrow. I was pretty unproductive last week, largely, I think, due to stress re health, and don't think my boss, who fucked off to the other side of the world for the whole week sightseeing will be remotely sympathetic. Will cross that bridge when I come to it.
