Well, I've grabbed the bull by the horns & am leaping into the new thread........

Felt very sad no one else had started one whilst I scoffed dined.

If no one like the title I am more than happy to have it deleted & go with anything else.

DH has taken over the catering for the month of February......... the food is good but the angst is another matter Grin

My best, most comfortable jeans ( so long as you size up....) are black straights from Calvin Klein but they're called skinny curvy and I got them across the pond. The U.K. suppliers have never heard of them...

waf I must also attend to the sad fact that my trusted for many years, high leg knickers from Sainsbos are no longer staying put. Hmm Blush

Stropperella · 05/03/2016 11:24

At Weymouth Music Festival waiting for ds to perform. He has just had one of his "special" nosebleeds, so the adjudicators could get an expectedly colourful performance. Hope not...

NUFC69 · 05/03/2016 12:47

At this time 37 years ago I was leaning against the wall in the dental surgery having contractions! It was a Monday lunchtime and I had lost a crown the previous Friday night - I was NOT going into hospital until the tooth was sorted out.

Stropps, does DS suffer from hay fever? DH used to have spectacular nosebleeds when he was in his teens and twenties - fortunately they disappeared with age. I hope you enjoy the concert.

hattymattie · 05/03/2016 15:25

NU - dentist and baby at the same time doesn't bear thinking about.

Ladies - I have a question - I'm thinking about a mattress topper and am wondering if anybody has any experience. I'm a bit worried about memory foam as I think, being a lady of a certain age, that might make me hot so I'm looking at microfibre. Does anybody have a topper and can anybody comment on memory foam?

MrsSchadenfreude · 05/03/2016 15:46

Can't comment on memory foam, but both the DDs have microfibre ones, which they love. They wash well and bounce back afterwards - no lumps and clumps.

Re jeans, I have Matalan jeans, which are OK, Per Una which went baggy immediately and fall down, and Sweetheart jeans by Old Navy which fit perfectly. Predictably, they've discontinued them now, so can't order online, but planning a trip to New York with DD2 over the Easter break, so will see what has replaced them.

Have been doing some tidying. There should be a word for the gap between the books and the front of the shelf where all sorts of small crap gets dumped.

magimedi · 05/03/2016 16:44

NU - That would have made a wonderful AIBU, had MN been around then!

Hatty - I've had a couple of nights on memory foam (as a guest) & thought I was going to spontaneously combust I was so hot.

Thanks Mrs S - had just found a lovely one at JL online but discovered that my bed is 10 cm wider 160 instead of 150 so I'm going to have to buy Ikea (first world problems).

MrsSchadenfreude · 05/03/2016 17:04

I love the way we cover everything on here from ageing parents to mattress toppers, and everything in between!

I am thinking about buying this dress but think it would need a camisole under it for work. Possibly the black or the black/grey one as I don't really need yet another black dress.

bigTillyMint · 05/03/2016 17:47

MrsS, it looks very nice, but is £££ even when reduced!

Maybe DM and the other aged p's could do with memory foam mattressesGrin

So glad to be home - lovely welcome from DS when I arrived (and DH!) and DD returned having "firmed it" on DS's bike (she is nearly a foot shorter and didn't get DH to lower the seat) to and from coaching - she usually gets a lift - without any moaning/screeching, etcShock! She also cooked dinner every night for themShock! Definitely have to give her credit for more mature behaviourSmile

Quiet night in tonight. Might start with a G&T...

hattymattie · 05/03/2016 18:17

Mrs S - live the dress.

BTM - it's great when they share the load.

MM - I suspected this about memory foam. I've found one on line made from a new fibre which is especially for the likes of us. It is very expensive though so hanging on for a promo.

bigTillyMint · 05/03/2016 18:49

So, next Saturday... Am I right in thinking everyone on this list can come? Anyone not on it?
Cremo
Rudy
Molly
BD
MI
BTM
Lalsy
MrsS
Beachy
Addle
WAF
Stropps
Herbs and friend?
CV
Rose
GGG

And does anyone want to meet for pre-dinner cocktails (table booked for 7pm, so 5pm?) - we could do Cubana, Las Iguanas, Wahaca, or any other suggestions?

NUFC69 · 05/03/2016 19:27

I think a small treat for DD might be in order, BTM. You have obviously done a good job bringing her up.

I like the dress, MrsS. Are they really as short as they look?

MM, when I went back to see the dentist a few weeks later, he blanched when I told him that I had had DD at nine o'clock that night!

bigTillyMint · 05/03/2016 19:47

NU, it has taken some time for my parenting skills to show positivelyGrin I think DH and I being impressed with her more mature behaviour is quite a treat for herWink And we are considering leaving her home alone for a night or two, but she doesn't know that yet!

And how impressive is that - having a crown redone just hours before giving birthFlowers

hattymattie · 05/03/2016 19:57

NU - I bet the dentist was shaken up - did you have a local anaesthetic for the crown?

Why is all the TV so dire on Saturday - on Sunday, there are lots of things that clash that aI like. Nothing for it - I'm going to continue my Elena Ferrante series. I'm almost on to Book 3.

Lalsy · 05/03/2016 20:30

NU, respect.

Jeans - I wear uniqlo (not very) slim fit and Gap perfect boot (with the boot bit getting cut off in shortening) and a pair of demi curves which I love. Really like uniqlo though, they stay up, fit, wash well and can be ordered online. dd took me jeans shopping in December and was incredibly patient and encouraging.

Just back from a lovely day out with her, meeting part way on bargainaceous train fare, possibly not a million miles from you Stropps....

Yes to next Saturday, thank you BTM. I will be up for a cocktail if I can get out in time, will depend.

Hatty, I have memory foam pillows which don't seem particularly hot.

Rosebag · 05/03/2016 21:27

This evening I have been subjected to gardeners world, Queen Victoria's Children, Dads Army and now Penelope Keith's Hidden Villages. I am eating my own eyes and sobbing with the need for entertainment. Primal scream!!!!!!!!!!!

When I try resort to my iPad I am told "you're not watching" . Shoot me now.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 05/03/2016 21:58

You should all be watching Trapped, on BBC4. It's great (but final episodes tonight!).

motherinferior · 05/03/2016 22:19

Concert done. Variable. A bit of my solo was wobbly because I was so thrown by finally having orchestral accompaniment I thought I'd messed up. Also was deliberately cold to counteract hot flushes but didn't realise it would actually be tooth-chattering.

We have a very expensive memory foam mattress. It gets very hot. Indeed.

motherinferior · 05/03/2016 22:20

In all other respects it's brilliant Smile

GiddyGiddyGoat · 05/03/2016 23:15

Penultimate episodes it turns out - very very good drama though...

addle · 05/03/2016 23:25

GGg, you worried me there, was wondering what Ild missed in trapped.

MrsSchadenfreude · 05/03/2016 23:39

I went to a great new bar on Lower Marsh on Friday. Will let you know the name of it. It wasn't busy, lots of seats, good unobtrusive music. Might be a good meeting place?

We have the French exchange child here next weekend. Given that I am with her Friday and Sunday, aibu to think that DH can manage Saturday night?

CointreauVersial · 06/03/2016 01:08

Am plastered. Very good 50th partyt his evening, very old friend, lots of peolpe I hadn't sen for ages.....

Picked up DS on the way home who'd been at party of a girl he was at infant school wiht. I'm not sure who was more "refresshed" - him or me. Must go to bed.

bigTillyMint · 06/03/2016 08:12

MrsS, great re bar! And of course your DH can manage on Saturday night. Surely it is your DD that will be entertaining her anyway?!

CV, sounds like you've had a great night. And your DS!

I feel a lot better after 10hours sleepSmile

hattymattie · 06/03/2016 08:45

Mrs S - I thought the same as BTM - it should be DD entertaining exchange student. DH can be boss on Saturday of course.

BTM - had a great sleep as well.

The skiers arrive back today ( DH and DS).
