I know it might seem like we've nothing left to say but I'm sure we have :)

I have to tell you: Seville a l'Aube is on the TK Maxx website for half price - lots of other L'Artisan perfumes but that one is very special and I wore nothing else all summer!

SOTD: Cuir de Russie. Like a fuzzy hug with vague undertones of marauding Cossacks from the 19th century.

Repeating my offer from previous page: 8ml decant of Parfum de Nicolai's Le Temps d'une Fete looking for a new home. I sprayed it accidentally this morning and the first hit of hyacinth is too much for me. If you would cherish it, please PM!

pretend · 17/11/2015 16:41

My people!

SOTD is Penhaligons Malabah. I got heavily into Penhaligons over the summer and it cost me a small fortune... I'm fascinated to know they do the odd one at TK Maxx!

A few weeks ago I found Tom Ford. Late to the table, I know, but I've only really been doing perfume this year, and my summer fragrances were all Maison Martin or Francis Kurkidjan green teas and white floral/citrus. Now that the nights are drawing in I can't get enough of Tom Ford - White Patchouli for the daytime and Black Orchid by night. Wow, I can drink in those smells for hours.

I'm waiting on my sample selection of Tom Fords from Surrender To Chance, then I'll have a happy couple of hours updating the reviews on Frangrantica.com.

Happy times Smile

Anothed day with vintage Mitsouko. Not a good day for me, and this is just about the only thing that is working for me at the moment.

ToysDontWorkNoMore · 17/11/2015 17:14

Cresset: It sounds like something I might like! What would you like in return? My list (although not updated) is on the last thread I think, but I 've got tons of stuff. What categories to you like? I could do a few different decants.

ToysDontWorkNoMore · 17/11/2015 17:18

Oh, Frugal. I hope you're alright. Brew

ToysDontWorkNoMore · 17/11/2015 17:25

I'm itching to buy the new L'Artisan, but will abstain. I also want a FB of Fille En Aiguilles, but really shouldn't. Otherwise, I am almost actively avoiding perfume news and stores. I don't want anything to tempt me when I have so much stuff.

cressetmama · 17/11/2015 17:58

I tend to like woodsy things and chypres. I'm partial to vetiver and to tonka bean; less enamoured of full blown florals or gourmand scents. Favourites include CdG1 and Serpentine, anything by Jean-Claude Ellena (so most Hermes) and I've recently discovered Maison Martin Margiela. Am waiting eagerly for the Juliette has a Gun sample set talked about on another MN thread recently and for decants ordered last week of Jicky, Dzing and Eau de The Bleu.

Does that help profile me at all?

pocketandsweet · 17/11/2015 18:08

I feel like I've lost my perfume mojo since we moved to North America... I'm sure there is lots out there worth trying though. My only really good find so far is Marine Sel by Tokyo Milk. Yesterday I tried their dark range Arsenic.... It was one of those ones where you can't decide whether it's awful or kind of wonderful. In the end I think too much vanilla for me. SOTD: Cristalle which always makes me feel cozy on a rainy cold day.

hollinhurst84 · 17/11/2015 18:11

SOTD - Clean cotton t shirt
Love this!

BitOfFun · 17/11/2015 18:43

I'm looking forward to a bottle of Shay&Blue Salt Caramel for Christmas. I'm not sure if it will stop me eating it or just make it worse!

Toomuchtea · 18/11/2015 09:24

I do envy you BitOfFun - I never get on that well with food-related scents, which seem to take one look at my skin and morph into something a hungry rat would leave behind.

SOTD Penhaligon's Vaara. I really like the first salty hit of this but sadly the salt mellows a bit too much for me. Still a good autumny scent though.

ToysDontWorkNoMore · 18/11/2015 21:15

Sent you a pm, cresset..

Sotd: Belle en Rykiel. Gorgeus, slightly gourmandy, perfect for chilly weather.

flightywoman · 19/11/2015 08:49

Today I am wearing Anubis by Papillon Perfumery. It's quite phenolic/creosote-y, I can't decide if it's newly-painted fence or fine Islay single Malt!!

Papillon have a lovely Tobacco Rose which is gorgeous and one called Salome which is very very odd - it's really animal-y, I can't describe it at all. When I tried it I found it totally addictive, I sent my nose into overdrive with sniffing! And it lasted for DAYS. I couldn't decide if I thought it was revolting or amazing but it's been on my mind ever since - it's quite something...

They do a sample set for £15 too, well worth a punt.

My perfume is Private Collection by Estee Lauder. It's an ancient fragrance and I have worn it since I was 15 (a million years). Sometimes though I would like something else to just squirt on during the day. Is there anything similar?

hollinhurst84 · 19/11/2015 10:00

Laughing at toomuchtea- jasmine on my skin turns into wee. Put it with ylang ylang and it's absolutely vile Grin

niminypiminy · 19/11/2015 11:48

SOTD: En Avion by Caron, another really old-fashioned scent - reminds me of soigné women in furs arriving for tea at the Ritz, in a good way.

But its quite subtle smell is being drowned out by whatever the woman behind me on the train is wearing - something loud and coconutty, reminds me of Hawaiian Tropic and eighties beaches.

Toomuchtea · 19/11/2015 12:58

Hollinhurst84, I sympathise. My great aunt used to wear Blue Grass all the time, and smelled amazing. "Here, Tea," she said one day. "Try this." Awful. Instantly turned to fly spray. We both reeled backwards and I spent ages (not successfully, alas) trying to scrub it off.

Was in Superdrug this morning and someone sprayed something pink by Lacoste into the air. Thankfully SOTD Vaara seems to have shrugged it off.

flightywoman · 19/11/2015 14:51

Oh my goodness, I've just seen the messages upthread about Givenchy III being available! I have to get some, by hook or by crook...

LovelyFriend · 19/11/2015 14:51

ooh hello all - checking in.

I'm just getting to the end of my 24 samples from Ateliers Cologne, after they were recommended to me by a MN'er. It's been so lovely trying them all. I'd be happy with a bottle of most of them though of course my fav happened to be the most expensive. www.ateliercologne.eu/colognes-absolues/rendez-vous-cologne-absolue.html

They samples came beautifully packaged and would be a lovely Xmas gift to receive. www.ateliercologne.eu/samples.html/

ToysDontWorkNoMore · 19/11/2015 14:55

Sotd:Bendelirious. Cherry, booze and leather. Yum.

LovelyFriend · 19/11/2015 15:02

SOTD: Pomelo Paradis

FrustratedFrugal · 19/11/2015 16:39

Another day with Vega. I just love it, it feels like second skin. Everything feels much better now, leaving for a work trip tomorrow, packed 1932 because it is unobtrusive and comforting. Waves to Toys!

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 19/11/2015 17:36

Where is Givenchy III available? Where? I am still reeling from being duped over the summer by an ebayer who claimed to have vintage Givenchy III and Ysatis. They were perfume oils when they came, and fair does, they were some of the best dupes I've smelled but they certainly weren't The Real Thing.

CointreauVersial · 19/11/2015 22:05

SOTD is Bex London Londoner SW1X (what a mouthful), one of the samples from a Perfume Society box which had somehow escaped my attention. A completely blind choice, and perhaps not 100% ideal for a day in the office, but it's not bad. Rose Oud. Just one problem with Rose Oud fragrances - all I get is....Rose Oud. It is supposed to have a "banknote" note, but I'm not sure I caught it.

Flighty - I bought that Papillon set....must revisit.

MrsCocoa · 19/11/2015 23:16

SotD: Passage D'Enfer - thank you TK Maxx. I love incense. This was a blind buy but it's fabulous. The frankincense note reminds me a bit of Sahara Noir, but this is light, airy and cool, where Sahara Noir is hot and dry. Perfect for Autumn.
