I know it might seem like we've nothing left to say but I'm sure we have :)

I have to tell you: Seville a l'Aube is on the TK Maxx website for half price - lots of other L'Artisan perfumes but that one is very special and I wore nothing else all summer!

SOTD: Cuir de Russie. Like a fuzzy hug with vague undertones of marauding Cossacks from the 19th century.

Can I join in? Perfume has become a new hobby for me since I started looking for the right one for my upcoming wedding. I settled on Papillon Tobacco Rose for the big day but I've also bought a few other scents I fell in love with while trying out the various testers I got from Les Senteurs and Bloom Perfumes. It was so much fun trying them all out and deciding what I liked and didn't like. I always thought I just liked heavier perfumes (F.M. Vetiver Extraordinaire and Tom Ford Santal Blush are two past faves of mine) but I've discovered my likes are more far reaching than I thought! After reading this thread yesterday I went a bit mad in TK Maxx and came home with a selection of Penhaligons, Serge Lutens and L'artisan Parfumer bargains including Tea For Two, which I love. If my wedding doesn't bankrupt me this hobby certainly will 😉

MissBattleaxe · 29/02/2016 15:41

crapartist- welcome! Tobacco rose is a superb choice. I told my bride to be friend that when she chooses her wedding perfume, it's traditional that her DH should buy her a bottle every wedding anniversary. I made that one up but you can have it.

maryclarey · 29/02/2016 15:59

Missbattleaxe thanks, I shall inform him of this new 'tradition'!

Almost forgot my first SOTD - Serge Lutens Datura Noir. Lovely and fresh green wafts as I move about

getoffthattabletnow · 29/02/2016 17:12

Hi Crapartist.
Sotd is Baccarat Rouge by MFK.Candyfloss salty mineralised Scent .Like being on the wooden pier at Weston-super-mare on a cool breezy day with a briny tang in the air .Its definitely a unique one.

cressetmama · 29/02/2016 17:17

Welcome Crapartist to the slippery, scented path... 'tis a fine journey we are all on, even if it has frequent detours to the poor house. Or should that be pour house?

My London sniff-a-thon is next week, and I am rather looking forward to it, and to seeing some old friends, and to a get together with family.

maryclarey · 29/02/2016 17:26

Salty you say Getoff. Interesting... I must have a look at salty scents tonight. I sniffed some S&B Salted Caramel in John Lewis yesterday and while it smelled like something I could eat I definitely don't want to smell like that!

maryclarey · 29/02/2016 17:27

Pour house Grin

CointreauVersial · 29/02/2016 21:46

Not much time left....but Surrender to Chance have 20% off everything today (US time, so a bit behind us) - use code LEAPDAY20.

CointreauVersial · 29/02/2016 21:50

Crapartist - I agree, Salted Caramel smells delicious....on a pudding. On me, not so much.

SOTD - Ambre Russe. On the right side of edible!

maryclarey · 29/02/2016 21:57

Agreed cointreau, there is only so much sweetness I can bear on me, though it did smell lush in the bottle. I've put on Time For Tea when I changed into my PJs tonight and it's just the right level of sweet for me.

Not loving Drole De Rose too much, anyone want to swap for more Time For Tea or similar? I've got 100ml less two sprays...

MrsCocoa · 29/02/2016 22:01

SotD: Theo Fennell (EDP). Yes Crapartist, beware! I have now become the sad obsessive who tracks down both the EDP and EDT formulations on the strength of a Luca Turn review Grin.

Tell us a bit more about your TK Maxx finds?

maryclarey · 29/02/2016 22:07

I can see how it gets obsessive MrsCocoa, I've lost weeks to Fragnatica and countless blogs lately :)

I got L'Artisan Tea For Two, Bois Farine, Figuier Extreme and Drole de Rose, Penhaligons Elixir and Serge Lutens Datura Noir. There could easily have been more Serge purchases (they had Chergui and Bas de Soie amongst others) but I made myself stop. Phew. Great bargains to be had though!

maryclarey · 01/03/2016 10:11

SOTD Drole de Rose - chucked on a couple of sprays before barrelling out the door this morning. It's growing on me a bit but I don't love love it!

Placed an order for some ParfuMaria treats yesterday (actually re-placed because the first order was proved to have been stolen by the workmen in the flat opposite mine. Long story but I got my money back!). Will post when they arrive :-)

YetAnotherNC · 01/03/2016 11:19

Haha crapartist, love the idea of delicately fragranced workmen!

SOTD, Musc ravageur. I was really hoping I'd love this, but unfortunately on me it just smells of those black-jack aniseed sweets. Not very alluring, mysterious or fierce which is what I was hoping for... I will be going back to my beautiful Salome. I want to try bal a Versailles, or L'air de Rien next... See, I'm another one that's been drawn in to perfumeaholism.

maryclarey · 01/03/2016 11:40

Ha yetanothernc I really wish that was the real reason they were caught out! Unfortunately (for them) it was their complete stupidity at leaving the packaging with my identifying info on it in their rubbish bag in the flat over the weekend, where the letting agent found it as he was trying to locate said parcel for me on Saturday. Numpties.

I like Salome too, it's like a heftier more serious TF Santal Blush on me.

cressetmama · 01/03/2016 12:21

Ambre Russe is yum! I've only ever had samples from the PdE website, but they no longer offer them as far as I can see, and 100ml, which is the only size they offer, is too much: don't want 100ml of anything; 50ml would be ample. On the other hand, if PdE were to offer a set of 3 or 4 x 30mls, I would be there in a flash waving my card at them. I would add Eau Suave, Equistrius, and then ponder over the final choice (of four).

SoTD is probably going to be Bulgari Eau de The Verte, because I have to see the osteopath later.

MissBattleaxe · 01/03/2016 12:28

YetAnother- if you like Salome and Bal a Versailles you might also like Worth Courtesan- it's smells of sex. There's sort of theme here...

LovelyFriend · 01/03/2016 12:48

SOTD - Soleil by Fragonard.

Its inspired by the sun and while it is a lovely sunny summer scent, I also love to wear it to brighten up a dreary rainy day occasionally. It is very floral but not overly sweet.

getoffthattabletnow · 01/03/2016 13:05

Baccarat Rouge again today. The saltiness I think comes from the Ambergris in the perfume along with the Fir resin and Cedar. Its actually a woody floral with Jasmin and Saffron in it too.Baccarat R. Is so well blended that it's difficult to identify any notes apart from the Candy Floss accord at the beginning. Its not a Gourmand though.
I love MFK's Amyris Femme too as its so beautifully blended.
Crapartist Bois Farine and Drole de Rose are both beautiful. You have to enjoy powdery perfumes as ones Rosy powder with Anise, whilst the other one is woody almond powder with Sandalwood.

maryclarey · 01/03/2016 13:24

I really like Bois Farine but I find the leather note of the Rose de Drole a bit off putting I think? It was slightly plasticy or something. Saying that it certainly isn't unpleasant to wear, so I may hang on to it anyway!

Mrs9C · 01/03/2016 14:10

I haven't read through this thread, so sorry if this has been asked/mentioned before. Does anyone know if Estee Lauder Modern Muse Chic scent lasts? I bought it pre Christmas after spraying one of the Modern Muse scents on me and loving it all day, I couldn't remember which one and there is no shop near me that actually sells it, so I bought the Chic online. But I can't smell it at all after a short while of wearing it. I've also put a squirt of the Rouge one on and I could smell it for ages after, even though it was on my hand. I know it's normal not to smell what you're wearing after a while, but just incase this was an issue with it.

flightywoman · 01/03/2016 16:25

SotD - Dioressence. I gave up wearing it because it was bought for me by a former lover before I met the husband. But a lot of time has passed and I still love it so I got the bottle out of the dark drawer it has been in and am enjoying it again. Lovely lovely chypre.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 01/03/2016 19:07

Crapartist, I am another novice who has just taken possession of some samples from FirstforFragrance in Germany. And have now spotted that also Parfumeria will ship to Italy where I am.
I love these threads and have spent a good 2 hours this afternoon alone comfortreading Bois de Jasmine!

maryclarey · 01/03/2016 19:28

thenlater you will lose days, weeks in lovely blogs 😀

MrsCocoa · 01/03/2016 23:24

Crapartist - wow: what a great TK Maxx haul! Were any of them in clearance? Not a sniff of SL since Christmas in my local branches. If anyone spots a bottle of Ambre Sultan please let me know.

No idea Mrs9C - has this only happened once? I ask because my SotD, Mure et Musc is fickle, some days I get predominately soft musky berries, some days tasteful cleaning agent(citrus/soap?), other days not much at all.
