I know it might seem like we've nothing left to say but I'm sure we have :)

I have to tell you: Seville a l'Aube is on the TK Maxx website for half price - lots of other L'Artisan perfumes but that one is very special and I wore nothing else all summer!

SOTD: Cuir de Russie. Like a fuzzy hug with vague undertones of marauding Cossacks from the 19th century.

Oh I like Lion Cupboard. It smells like the inside of a cupboard that belonged to Sarah McCartney's father- I always smell a hint of peppermints, it's a lovely back story.

ToysDontWorkNoMore · 21/11/2015 14:09

Sotd: Bijou Romatique (ELDO), thanks cresset! It's surprising in that it is not surprising at all. Just a nice, enveloping, luxurious scent. Really like it.

Cresset, will do your package today and get posted next week. Hope that's OK. It's a bit hectic in my life ATM.

hollinhurst84 · 21/11/2015 14:16

I really want to smell Lion cupboard, am hoping its in the advent calendar!

evelynj · 21/11/2015 15:23

Ooh lovely. I'm after something for dh -he loves most Tom ford-esp oudh wood, and tobacco scents.

I did order bvlgari black on a rec from here but had to get it delivered to in laws in England as they wouldn't send to NI & bil assumed it was for fil so that's gone!

Was looking at penhaligons quercus & another yest in to maxx but unsure. Would like to stick to £30ish....

cressetmama · 21/11/2015 16:24

Toys Enjoy the Bijou; it's one of my friend's favourites from the range but on me it turns into household cleaning product!

The Juliette has a Gun discovery set came today, and is going to need a light touch. I applied a single drop of Moon Dance (tuberose, violet and patchouli) to one wrist and can still catch a faint whiff after the shower. And it's as well, because DH hates tuberose and forbade me wearing Corps & Ames, which I loved.

CointreauVersial · 21/11/2015 18:55

I like Lion Cupboard too but, like a lot of the 4160 Tuesdays fragrances, it brings me out in a rash if I wear it more than one day on the trot. No idea why - I don't seem to react to any other brand.

SOTD is Pierre Bourdon - La Dame En Rose. Whoah, violet! Lots of it, with raspberry in the background; barely any discernable rose. I now realise it's rose, as in French for pink, rather than the flower. Pretty, though - violet isn't a note I wear often.

cressetmama · 22/11/2015 11:36

SoTD is Another Oud, from the Juliette has a Gun set. It's lovely! Floral, musky and slightly chypre-y. DS even commented favourably and said it reminded him of frankincense wafting over him in the souk in Oman... which is spot on. There's some magic ingredient I have never heard of -- Norlimbanol? Thanks to the wonder of Google, I now know that it is a synthetic molecule that is "the essence of dessication". It is apparently at the heart of Paco Rabanne's Black XS, so now I am pursuing that down the fragrant rabbit hole, instead of cooking lunch.

LovelyFriend · 22/11/2015 12:52

hollin you have one of the 4160 advent calendars?
I'm jealous Grin

getoffthattabletnow · 22/11/2015 14:13

Sotd is Onde Sensuelle by L'Artisan Parfumeur.Love fresh grapefruit perfumes but this is a a real twist on a familiar theme - adding extra freshness with juniper and warmth with Ginger,Cinammon and Cumin.I find it fascinating and I think I will grow to love it but Cumin is a difficult note to circumnavigate.I'm finding much easier to love Aedes de Venustas which has similar freshness from Rhubarb and Tomato leaf but warmth from Incense and hazelnut.
Ooh,where did you get the Pierre Bourdon samples? Was it the Perfume Discovery Boxes?

hollinhurst84 · 22/11/2015 15:27

I do Blush
The past few years I have had Ciate nail polish ones but fancied a change! I must confess I had a sneaky peek in one and found it was an extrait from their range and is gorgeous but about £95!

ToysDontWorkNoMore · 22/11/2015 16:51

Sotd:PG L'Eau de Circe. Peachy smooth.

MissBattleaxe · 22/11/2015 17:00

I have the Perfume Society Discovery Box that had the Bourdon sample in too. Cointreau's opinion is spot on. I adore those boxes.

CointreauVersial · 22/11/2015 21:44

The Perfume Society boxes are wonderful - I'm addicted! I won a year's membership after commenting on a blog (Candy Perfume Boy), and I've certainly made the most of it.

SOTD is another sample from the latest box - Annick Goutal Vent de Folie. Meh. Pleasant woody floral, but hasn't set my world alight on first sampling. I am much more keen on the squizz of Shay & Blue Blood Oranges which I applied in M&S earlier. I am seriously tempted to buy a bottle of this one.

Getoffthattablenow - I wasn't keen on Onde Sensuelle. I tried to love it....

cressetmama · 23/11/2015 09:08

Perfume Society Discovery Box MissBattleax and CointreauVersial? Tell us more, please....

cressetmama · 23/11/2015 09:09

Battleaxe, sorry for typo!

MissBattleaxe · 23/11/2015 10:10

Go to the Perfume Society website and click on the heading "shop" There you will find a selection of fabulous discovery boxes. You don't need to be a subscriber to order them and you order them ad hoc, rather than signing up to an every-month deal.

If you do want to subscribe, its only £25 a year and you get a free Discovery Box, invitations to perfume sniffing events and discounts on Discovery Boxes.

In each box there are about ten really good, often hard to come by samples with sniffing notes and sniffing strips. There's usually some kind of skin care/ nail wear item too.

They make fantastic Christmas presents, especially for people who like perfume but don't know what to choose.

cressetmama · 23/11/2015 12:18

Lovely, thanks Battleaxe. Great username!

CointreauVersial · 23/11/2015 13:27

The nice thing about the Discovery Boxes is that they aren't full of run-of-the-mill big hitters and celebuscents (who wants to try Beyoncé's latest? Not me), but contain some really interesting niche fragrances.

MissBattleaxe · 23/11/2015 17:44

Thank you cresset, I'm nicer than my name in real life ( I hope)

I agree Cointreau. I also get the Discovery Club Boxes from the Fragrance Shop and they are exactly as you describe. Very dull and mainstream.

cressetmama · 23/11/2015 20:01

DSis may get a discovery box or two for Xmas. I don't think she has strayed far from Rive Gauche since her teens. Was thinking about the JHAG set, which I am wowed by for 10 euros!

cressetmama · 23/11/2015 20:03

It needs to be light and easy to send overseas, via a mutual friend's suitcase!

MrsCocoa · 23/11/2015 23:44

I want a 4160Tuesdays calendar too! Do you think they might have a couple left in December to flog off?

hollinhurst84 · 24/11/2015 11:20

I'm not sure... They said there was only 21 made I think
I'm sitting on my hands not to open it Blush

hollinhurst84 · 24/11/2015 11:30

SOTD is 4160 Tuesday's Shazam. It smells like Christmas on first sniff, then reminds me of expensive lingerie and hedonistic nights
Apparently it's an oriental, which bemuses me, I didn't think I liked them! Am more of a clean/fresh/citrus person but wow. This might be a purchase (sample spray)
