I know it might seem like we've nothing left to say but I'm sure we have :)

I have to tell you: Seville a l'Aube is on the TK Maxx website for half price - lots of other L'Artisan perfumes but that one is very special and I wore nothing else all summer!

SOTD: Cuir de Russie. Like a fuzzy hug with vague undertones of marauding Cossacks from the 19th century.

I couldn't find it in my local so when my friend found it in hers I was ridiculously excited
I have the 4160 Tuesday's advent calendar Grin

FrustratedFrugal · 10/11/2015 17:22

I found a mini of CK Obsession from the 1990s during our house move. The juice is thick and caramelized. I got a powerful hit of citrus and cinnamon, but also some sor and salty unwashed aromas. This stuff is still extremely potent Great to see how this evolves, I remember this as a really straightforward fragrance.

fishfingersinmysandwiches · 10/11/2015 19:15

Oooh I found a bottle of Dzing! and Seville a L'aube in Cardiff's TX MAXX for 30 quid each - I snapped them up. Loving Dzing! - just the right amount of interesting.

But lately I have been getting into wearing Shalimar again. It really is so beautiful and classic. Also my son loves it and will come and sniff me when I'm wearing it.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 10/11/2015 20:43

I'm wearing dzing today. Bought in tk maxx along with Seville a l'aube and nuit de tuberose. I was tres lucky.

flightywoman · 10/11/2015 20:55

Oh one of my favourite subjects!

I love chypres. My most recent love has been La Prairie Life hreads Platinum, which has been discontinued - and I am gutted because it took me ages to find it. I've got about quarter of a bottle left.

I used to wear Dioressence, but an ex-lover bought it for me and it feels just a bit wrong to wear it now I'm married to someone else, plus they've reformulated it and it's not as nice!

I adore Givenchy III but that's been discontinued too.

So anyway, I recently met Lizzie Ostrom who has just written a book about 100 years of scent - she's Odette Toilette on FB and Twitter - and she gave me a sample of Bruno Fazzolari's Au Dela Narcisse Des Montagnes which is WONDERFUL! It was a limited edition variation of a regular one of his and is currently available again so I have asked the husband to get it for me for Christmas. It's so grown up and mysterious and lovely.

I can't wait, and I'm ekeing out what I've got till Christmas day.

cardoon · 10/11/2015 20:59

Eyeing up Premier Figuier in TKMAXX but have never smelt it before - how do you all rate it?

getoffthattabletnow · 10/11/2015 22:36

I've just received some Mandragore in exchange for some Montale's Jasmin Full.I love the star Anise but i'm finding the Mandragore becomes a rather peppery Cologne Noire in the Drydown.I'm experimenting by combining a spray of jo Malone's Vanilla and Anise with the Mandragore to make it a little more rounded and Autumnal and to attenuate the spiciness.

shins · 10/11/2015 23:37

Cardoon, PF is gorgeous with incredible sparkly topnotes and a long figgy afterglow. I would pounce if I saw it instore.

Checked their website again and they have Tea For Two. Told dh that was his Christmas present to me and bought it.

Delighted so many of you like Dzing!- it's my favourite comfort scent.

Ooh, how lovely, a new perfumista thread!

SOTD is Tom Ford Santal Blush. I only have a small sample, and it's nearly all gone, but it's a lovely soft, spicy fragrance, perfect for an autumn day.

FF - I have a soft spot for Obsession, although a little goes a long way. I wore it to death back in the day.

cardoon · 11/11/2015 07:34

Will get myself round there for opening, they also had voleur de roses and piment brulant - any good?

boldlygoingsomewhere · 11/11/2015 08:01

Wearing L'Ambre des Merveilles today. Also love mitsuoko which I'll be alternating.

I can't do rose scents unfortunately as they smell horrible on me.

cressetmama · 11/11/2015 09:02

Going to TKMaxx today to hunt Dzing! Fingers crossed for me; we don't have the most exciting store locally, but it can turn up trumps surprise. For those Artisan fans who enjoy cologne-like scents (neroli, bergamot, zippy and zesty but not very long-lasting) I saw Eau de l'Artisan on-line.

I also plan a trip to the Bvlgari counter next time I pass our local HoF to see if they have the new Eau de The Bleu which I have read is divine, especially for fans of the range.

So SoTD will probably have to wait; otherwise it might feel like CdG1.

CointreauVersial · 11/11/2015 13:15

I have quite a few L'Artisan fragrances - they do some good ones. I adore Tea for Two (there were plans to discontinue it, but it seems to be around still); the other FB I have is Caligna, which is gorgeous in the summer - a refreshing, soft ambery-fruity-woody thing.

Not tried Dzing.....must remedy this!

Niminy - I meant to say, I didn't rate Cuir de Russie either. All it brought to mind was Imperial Leather soap.

SOTD is Clinique Aromatics in White, which is one I fell for in a big way after sampling it randomly in a department store. It reminds me a lot of Coromandel, but it's more wearable everyday (and it doesn't give me that choking first half-hour that Coromandel does). I bagged a FB on eBay for very little money.

HopefulAnxiety · 11/11/2015 13:24

I wish I could wear chypres Sad Mitsouko smells like cinnamon and then old lady soap on me, just no hint of it being the masterpiece that it is. Gutted. I love Jicky, L'Heure Bleu and Shalimar, and most of the other classic Guerlains but Mitsouko just leaves me cold.

Also thanks everyone for making me want to spend all my money Grin I get my John Lewis discount (25% off everything bar big ticket items which is 12% off) in the new year - what should I get?

getoffthattabletnow · 11/11/2015 13:55

Violetta by Penhaligon's .Its such a gloomy day here I wanted to spray myself with something uplifting.A green fresh Violet with Rosy Geranium did the trick. Its lasted a morning and now I need to respray.
I'm extremely tempted by the Dsquared woody perfumes on the Tk website.Anyone any experience of them?Lots of Serve Lutens and L'Artisan's online including Tea for two.I've recently bought Bois Farine which I can thoroughly recommend for lovers of woody ,Nutty ,Sandalwood and Cedar.

niminypiminy · 11/11/2015 16:07

SOTD: I'm doing a bit of an androgynous thing with my clothes today (grey flannel trousers, brogues, polo neck) so am partnering it with Robert Piguet Bandit and (in my head) channelling Marlene Dietrich. It's rather fabulous in a completely over-the-top, film star version of androgyny kind of a way.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 11/11/2015 16:16

Lilian- have you tried the Peoneve?

I had a sample and retched at it. To me, it seemed like something gone off mixed with nappy. Sad

(I am a lurker on your perfume threads all of you, I comfort read Grin)

Flightywoman- I picked up a set of miniatures of Givenchy III over the summer. It seems fortunately to be one of those scents that passes a lot of people by so it's not so ££££ when there are some bottles around.

cressetmama · 11/11/2015 16:40

DId not make T K MAxx as I waas shoe shopping for DS, and that ate the time, nor did local HoF have Eau de The Bleu to try! Busted afternoon scent -wise. No SoTD.... maybe Eau des Merveilles for the comfort!

LillianGish · 11/11/2015 16:58

Actually I love Peoneve on me (and so does DH) - especially once it has worn in. Definitely a wintery scent for Christmas (I like something more citrusy in the summer Annick Goutal Eau d'Hadrien) - but on me it smells of peppery roses, quite sensual. I love Penhaligon in general - DH has Blenheim Bouquet which reminds me of Lapsang Souchong. Gorgeous.

FrustratedFrugal · 11/11/2015 17:12

I could smell the Obsession on my wrist all day long. This stuff is radioactive! I am into far gentler stuff these days. Spritzed on a tiny bit of vintage Mitsy, much better, feels very grown-up.

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 11/11/2015 17:12

Hmmm. I might dig it out now it's winter. I did buy it in July, maybe that was the problem.

FrustratedFrugal · 11/11/2015 17:16

Hopeful I did not Mitsouko when I first got into perfumes, sniffed instore it smelled like mega musty fur coats from the charity shop. These days, I am wearing stuff from the 1980s and it smells different, edgier and more masculine. There is a yummy plummy top layer but underneath it's all tweed and steel corsetry, not my grandma's limp beige underwear and stale minks.

hollinhurst84 · 11/11/2015 17:43

SOTD maison Martin replica - lazy Sunday morning. God I adore this. It's just soft, clean, comfort. Like clean sheets after a bath

cressetmama · 11/11/2015 19:46

Another favourite of mine hollinhurst. You lot are scent cousins!

cardoon · 11/11/2015 20:11

yay, got Figuier today. Lovely warm scent on me once it settles down
