I know it might seem like we've nothing left to say but I'm sure we have :)

I have to tell you: Seville a l'Aube is on the TK Maxx website for half price - lots of other L'Artisan perfumes but that one is very special and I wore nothing else all summer!

SOTD: Cuir de Russie. Like a fuzzy hug with vague undertones of marauding Cossacks from the 19th century.

Does Timbuktu come close Mrs S - wondering as Ethiopia and Mali are neighbours?

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/02/2016 20:46

Don't know, Mrs C. They are quite distant neighbours - Ethiopia is east and Mali is west.

flightywoman · 17/02/2016 21:44

I wore Salome to work yesterday, mostly because ALL my colleagues are on holiday and I was on my own!

I've just bought the JHAG sample set with some birthday money from the mothership, so I will look forward to that sometime over the next week.

Not worn anything today, tomorrow is my birthday, we are going out for lunch and I will be spritzing with my Au Dela Narcisse des Montagnes which I love more every time I spray it. And the way it smells on a scarf a day or so later is heavenly!

CointreauVersial · 17/02/2016 23:12

Happy Birthday for tomorrow, flighty - mine's today!

I love Gucci Envy, and have a couple of bottles stashed away, which DH managed to track down for me in his staff shop.

I was in Lush today (waiting patiently, holding my nose while DD1 trawled through the bath bombs) and had a little spray of a couple of their fragrances. I've never got on with them in the past (I have a bottle of Sun but am not that keen), but I found one that I really enjoyed - All Good Things. It started with a blast of coal-tar, but settled into a lovely woody burnt sugar and vanilla scent.

MissBattleaxe · 18/02/2016 09:11

I agree with you about LUSH Cointreau. I find many of them truly dreadful with the odd occasional gem.

wiltingfast · 18/02/2016 10:51

I can't go into lush, just find its total olfactory overload Grin

cardoon · 18/02/2016 17:43

Sitting by the fire in a delicious fug of L'artisan tea for two, courtesy of Tkmaxx......bliss

CointreauVersial · 18/02/2016 17:43

Wilting - I'm normally the same; I was just killing time while DD1 browsed and trying not to sneeze So I didn't really get to sniff the fragrance until I had left the shop and realised it was really rather nice.

flightywoman · 18/02/2016 19:51

Happy birthday for yesterday Cointreau!

I was given two new scents today - a bottle of Emma from Laura Ashley (It's my name!) and I think it's quite reminiscent of something, possibly Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle?

And A Library of Fragrance Four Leaf Clover which reminds me of something but I can't think what. It's not one I'd have chosen but I have been wearing it all day and I really like it!

flightywoman · 18/02/2016 20:50

Just realised what Four Leaf Clover reminds me of - it's got similar notes to Love from B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful. I saw the bottle of hair-scent on my chest of drawers and it was suddenly as clear as day!

cressetmama · 21/02/2016 19:28

Heavens alive! I had to troll through to page FOUR to find us!

In my defence, I've been in Scotland without telecoms, and only took two decants, so not the most interesting week... MMM Replica Untitled did not hit the spot so it was Dzing!

For those interested, I washed my hands with Noble Isle's Whisky and Water hand wash in the Glenfiddich cafe bathrom after lunch, and it was gorgeous. Sadly the gift shop didn't stock it so I am waiting for a bottle. Possibly a lovely present for a perfumisto?

YetAnother's sample of Salome is very promising, but I was in no condition to judge after 13 hours driving. Will try again tomorrow.

MissBattleaxe · 21/02/2016 20:03

Noble Isle Whisky and water smells so good that I don;t know why they haven't done a fragrance. It's just bath and body at the moment I think. They're missing a trick.

YetAnotherNC · 21/02/2016 20:29

SOTD Tom Ford Oud Fleur. V disappointed. I think I must be Oud Fleur anosmic, couldn't really smell much... Sad, I wanted to like it as I've liked other TF fragrances. Hey ho, back to Salome!!! Grin

YetAnotherNC · 21/02/2016 20:33

Cresset you're very welcome to the sample. Your half term has beaten mine pants down. I filled a skip with rubbish. Glamorous....

cressetmama · 21/02/2016 20:52

yetanother, our skip was filled just before half term. DH is still cleaning the cement out of the drains (because his arms are longer than mine, or it would be my job).

Battleaxe, it is stupendous. Could not believe it wasn't in the gift shop! I would have bought a couple of bottles. A fragrance/EDT would work so well.

thecatfromjapan · 21/02/2016 21:04

I was looking for you yesterday and couldn't find you.Smile
Tried Prada's Infusion d'Oiuillet yesterday: lovely, elegant carnation. Very similar to the Iris but the little carnation twist made it spicy/more interesting (for me, anyway). I love carnation - wish there were more carnation perfumes worn in offices and on tubes across the land!

I also tried the new Jo Malone herb garden scents. They are both very JM (light, linear and polite) and quite unusual: they are genuinely herby rather than perfume-y. So the carrot really is carrotty, rather than iris - the sweetness that a carrot has is still there. I was quite amused by that, given that I always think of my bottle of 28 La Pausa as my carrot perfume.

I can't decide if the herbiness is quite witty and a bit of a departure or is a slightly flat-footed literalism.

My favourite JM perfumes of all time were the English Gardens: iris and lady Moore and the rhubarb scent. Not sure these are quite as good but they are rather nice.

That said, I'm wearing Chergui, bought in TK Maxx, and I'm loving it.Smile

thecatfromjapan · 21/02/2016 21:08

I so wish that this thread was scratch n' sniff. I so want to smell some of these scents you ladies are discussing!

And I am well jel @ trip to distillery. I had a bottle of Talisker squirrelled away and rather felt like a glass last night. Discovered dh's brother had finished it while babysitting for us the other night. What a meanie!

cressetmama · 21/02/2016 21:28

Scratch n sniff: MNHQ, can you help? Would be awesome!!!

MissBattleaxe · 21/02/2016 21:33

Chergui is fab. I am forcing myself to avoid TK Maxx lest temptation takes my credit card. It's the only place I can get the good stuff. You'll never find SL and Freidemodin in Boots. It's a Godsend if you don't live near a big city.

MrsCocoa · 22/02/2016 00:57

Hello All - might we talk about wearing perfume when attending a wedding (as a guest)? Are bold choices out?

Am wearing a purple dress and have just made myself a violet/rosewood/star anise fragrance using a 4160 Tuesdays kit (thanks to whoever linked - it's fabulous fun). Realise though it probably needs to be left to mature for a couple of weeks. So am scrambling through my samples looking for inspiration...any top picks to share?

cressetmama · 22/02/2016 08:52

Does it have to be purple MrsC? Parfum de Therese is full of violets, and the sillage is wedding-appropriate (on me at least).

getoffthattabletnow · 22/02/2016 09:20

Malle's Lipstick Rose Mrs cocoa?
Rose and Violets with reasonable silage.
I don't think I'd wear a real heavy hitter.
But what do I know.I've got a bad cold and have been totally over-spraying all my perfumes.Dd2 has been complaining bitterly about Aedes de Venustas in the car.I forgot it's fairly powerful and sprayed 5 times.
SOTD is Ormonde Jayne's Tiare.
It seems to smell bitter on me today.Or maybe this is what my nose is picking up.

LovelyFriend · 22/02/2016 15:42

SOTD is Fragonard Verviene which is very grassy and fresh especially after all the heavier 4160 Tuesdays I've been wearing lately.

Its really lovely M&S stock many of the Fragonard scents now - I've worn several over the years. Currently 20% off perfume at M&S: www.marksandspencer.com/fragonard-verveine-eau-de-toilette-100ml/p/p22186719?prevPage=plp

I also love the Sandlewood one in the Fragonard Natural line.

YetAnotherNC · 22/02/2016 18:12

Lovely I like that sandalwood one as well.

CointreauVersial · 22/02/2016 21:25

SOTD is V&R Spicebomb. I absolutely love the cinnamon and tobacco, and it's not too overpowering for an everyday fragrance.
