I know it might seem like we've nothing left to say but I'm sure we have :)

I have to tell you: Seville a l'Aube is on the TK Maxx website for half price - lots of other L'Artisan perfumes but that one is very special and I wore nothing else all summer!

SOTD: Cuir de Russie. Like a fuzzy hug with vague undertones of marauding Cossacks from the 19th century.

How kind of you! PM'ing now. SoTD is Eau Parfumee au The Bleu. I got a decant when I read the review on NST. It has more lasting power on me than The Vert but it doesn't make me quiver in the same way. Not much does TBH.

getoffthattabletnow · 10/02/2016 10:40

I buy glass and plastic decant bottles from cleo-healthcare on E bay.Plastic ones are easy to post whereas glass ones are nicer but more fragile.I've have lots of decants in plastic bottles an they all appear to have kept fine in over a year.
Sotd is Battito d'Ali by Profumum Roma. Its a real cold weather comfort Scent.Smells like a delicious Patisserie shop.

FrustratedFrugal · 10/02/2016 20:23

A day with Shalimar Mexique. Fading, so spritzed some Pear+ Olive.

MrsCocoa · 10/02/2016 21:38

Thank you Getoff - order placed.

LovelyFriend · 11/02/2016 10:54

really enjoyed this article on The Pool about Rive Gauche.

www.the-pool.com/beauty/beauty-honestly/2016/6/lizzie-ostrom-on-ysl-rive-gauche?mc_cid=127de4729c&mc_eid=b30e0b3227

I still consider it "my" fragrance - well my first loved fragrance anyhow. Coincided with my first proper job and began my love of perfume. One of the reasons I don't try out too many new perfumes is if I ever find myself around perfume testers and I'm not already wearing scent, I find it very hard to resist treating myself to a great spray of Rive Gauche.

I must buy some more. It's been a few years now since I had a bottle at home.

MissBattleaxe · 11/02/2016 11:57

I love Rive Gauche. It's a classic that never goes out of fashion.

SOTD- 4160 Tuesdays Sex Goddess. Gorgeous.

getoffthattabletnow · 11/02/2016 12:15

Rosee De Nuit is SOTD .Love the Cardamom and Bergamot opening and the very soft woody Violet heart. But the Teak strikes a discordant note for me and completely overwhelms the Sandalwood in the base.
I've had to marinate myself in it in order actually smell it properly.Given that this perfume originally sold for over £100 a bottle, its even more subtle than a Jo Malone scent.

thecatfromjapan · 11/02/2016 12:24

Just wanted to drop in and say that, on the recommendation of this thread, I bought a bottle of 'Sahara Noir'. I am now sitting here, swathed in it - and rather happy.

I love incense in perfumes. Grin I really think it's making me feel a little warmer.

tobee · 11/02/2016 12:43

Just found out from this thread about Violet Blonde Tom Ford being discontinued. Devastated! It's been my evening/going out fragrance for a while now. I see it's still available on Amazon. Would you ladies trust this? Or do you think it will have "gone off"? I know some retailers say good perfumes don't, but they would, wouldn't they?

cressetmama · 11/02/2016 15:20

Amazon are usually pretty helpful if thing do go wrong IME, Tobee. I would give it a go, and probably get the biggest bottle they have for insurance; it might be some time before anything grabs you as much... In the spirit of this thread, that's not a reason to stop sniffing at the alternatives.

SoTD is Cuir Velours by Naomi Goodsir that I just plucked from the bag. It was a Nose sample from last summer which I disliked then, but it sounded comforting for a cold, bright day, although there are some wintry showers about. It's very leathery indeed, and quite meaty. Hope it calms down in half an hour.

thecatfromjapan · 11/02/2016 16:02

I bought my Sahara Noir through Amazon. It arrived swiftly and was perfect. Smile

CointreauVersial · 11/02/2016 17:57

Cresset - I love Cuir Velours. I treated myself to a little decant of it a few months ago.

SOTD is Miller Harris Fleur Oriental - plucked somewhat randomly from my box of samples because the card happened to be the same colour as the jumper I'm wearing today (russety red). Well, it's as good a reason as any! I really love the spicy carnation.

MrsCocoa · 11/02/2016 18:59

The Cat - yes, it's a bit like being under a sun lamp! Would you mind linking or pm-ing me with details of your amazon seller?

thecatfromjapan · 11/02/2016 19:38

It was 'The Perfume People', MrsCocoa.

I'm enjoying it SO much!Smile
Isn't perfume great!

thecatfromjapan · 11/02/2016 19:49

Sorry, just checked. It wasn't The Perfume People (thst was something else, which also arrived swiftly).
I can't see a name on the email. Does that mean it was just Amazon?
I'm obviously a rather blithe internet shopper!

FrustratedFrugal · 11/02/2016 20:33

Coco all day long - haven't particularly enjoyed it. Loud, metallic, like an oppressive cloud.

shins · 11/02/2016 21:13

Lovelyfriend, Rive Gauche makes me think of my gorgeous glamorous young aunties in the late 70s, all Elnett hairspray, lipstick, cigarette smoke and overplucked eyebrows! I asked one of them recently if she used to wear it and I was so glad to be right Smile

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 12/02/2016 06:19

Rive Gauche has always been one of my staples. Love it. First had it in August 86 (I write in my diaries what perfume I am wearing) and have rarely been without a bottle since.

I am popping in to say this thread is responsible for my slippery slope and yesterday I ordered samples of Heeley Sel Marin, Hippie Rose and Chypre 21, L'Artisan Seville a l'aube, more Keiko Mecheri Cuir Cordoba, Tauer L'air du desert marocain, and the Salome that is going to have men running after me.

All, except for the Cuir Cordoba because of you lot and your wonderful descriptions. (Though I think the hippie rose caught me because of the website)

Thank you! Flowers

MrsSchadenfreude · 12/02/2016 07:50

Damn you all, I got a box of the Friedemondin sample set from TK Maxx and am absolutely in love with Feu Follet. It has it all - leather, smoke, tobacco, and I keep sniffing myself. Think I will need a full bottle. Haven't tried the others yet - will report back.

MissBattleaxe · 12/02/2016 09:56

Freidemodin scents are fab! I'm not sure if they will do any more if they are in TK Maxx, unless its a packaging change.

FrustratedFrugal · 12/02/2016 15:44

Another day wearing oudh at work. Probably my favorite skin scent right now. I've known early on that orientals are my thing, but finding the right one took a long time Grin

MrsCocoa · 12/02/2016 17:58

Still light at 5pm - haven broken out the Seville a l'Aube now that Easter is only around the corner.

MrsSchadenfreude · 13/02/2016 13:34

Yetanother - thank you so much for my sample of Salome. There is something in it that reminds me of the old formula of Ivoire, before they reformulated it and made it bland. It definitely has a "sweaty knickers" air to it - the scent of an illicit shag on a warm summer's afternoon, where you just curl up afterwards and fall asleep, with the love juices and sweat mingling...

alwaysalaughtobehad · 13/02/2016 14:35

Does anyone know a perfume similar to SJP's Lovely?? It seems to be discontinued except online. Many people say the online ones are fake. I bought one and I'm not really sure!! Any ideas of new perfumes I can try?! Thank you!!

FrustratedFrugal · 13/02/2016 14:41

SJP Lovely = Narciso Rodriguez For Her.
