Ahhhhh, the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness...if for you that means the joy of cosy jumpers, retrieving your favourite coats and jackets from the back of the wardrobe and an excuse to buy new boots then this is the place for you Smile. Come chat about clothes, make up and accessories, budgets from Primark to Prada. Lurkers, newbies and old hands all welcome.

Blair that's a shocking thing to say Grin
Reminds me of another MNV DHs terrible put down last year, over a pair of boots M, we could make a compilation! I'm sure my DH could contribute many.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 01/10/2015 22:06

shocking blair Shock if it helps at all, DP once uttered the immortal words 'brown makes you look really DOWDY' dowdy i tell you! i have never worn brown since despite being assured by everyone ever for years previously that it was the only colour that really suited me. i do see that it actually doesn't suit me at all but still, dowdy!!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 01/10/2015 22:10

One Shock Grin it's somehow worse when they're right, isn't it?! (He is right... several Voguettes have agreed that the coat is too big and unstructured for me and the lapels too wide, so it's going back unfortunately!)

Has your DP considered a career working as a HoC consultant? After a stint at charm school of course Wink

But yeah, being compared to a grim soap character is a new low for me.

MarshaBrady · 01/10/2015 22:13

Blair what a buzz kill! I know it well!

libertydoddle · 01/10/2015 22:13

For the record Blair you did not, and could never, look like a character from Eastenders.

OP posts:
BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 01/10/2015 22:20

Oh I don't know Lib I once saw Roxy Mitchell wearing a top I had. The shame!
I don't even watch EE, DH does :/

I remember your incident Marsha. Hope he's been better since!

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 01/10/2015 22:36

blair dp would probably do well if it could work logically rather than purely creatively. i am the more creative of the two of us! yes, he was and is right but still, dowdy is not a word i'd heard in a long time and never about myself before. he tries but charm is not his strong point Grin

shopafrolic · 01/10/2015 22:49

Blair when you find the right coat you'll soon forget I promise
MrMarsha is still in my bad books Grin
Liberty has found me a black mini skirt in the sale at Uniqlo which I have ordered. Will link of good.
Doctors again tomorrow for me. Love to all x

MarshaBrady · 01/10/2015 22:53

He has been pretty good lately but he really wasn't keen on the JC suede buckle boots- buzz killed them straight back to the shops.

I think everything else has been fine.

I need to try on the MiH skinnies properly but first try, they are really good, love them, thanks Linus Thanks

MarshaBrady · 01/10/2015 22:53

Good luck Shop hope it goes well Thanks

QueenCardi · 02/10/2015 07:05

Just catching up. blair LTB. Not for his comments but for watchng eastenders Grin. Seriously though, shame it wasn't right.

Will catch up properly later.

shopafrolic · 02/10/2015 10:04

I was with MrMarsha on the JC boots for you though Marsha Hmm
LOL QueenC
Did my first school run again this morning - knackered now. Wore my bright pink Boden cashmere crew and people said I looked well. Am totally sticking in the brightest of brights until I feel better Grin

MarshaBrady · 02/10/2015 10:05

You were both right Shop. I adore the Marant boots and have been wearing them nearly every day lately.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 02/10/2015 13:37

Lol QueenC!

Coat has gone. Now thinking what I can buy instead with the money.

Grr something really annoying just happened. Can I just ask - would you all expect fresh salmon fillets bought from Waitrose (in a packet with a sauce, not from the essentials range) to be descaled? I'm fuming. Be honest as I don't know whether I'm being precious.

shopafrolic · 02/10/2015 14:59

If it said skinless and boneless then I would expect it to be just that. If it just calls itself a fillet then not necessarily......
DH and I snuck out for lunch - it was lovely to get out. I have been given another week's worth of antibiotics as my infection hasn't sorted itself so I needed cheering up.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 02/10/2015 15:15

It wasn't described as skinless, which is fine, I like skin. I had to descale it myself and the skin ended up being lovely and crispy. I just would have expected the scales to be removed on a £5 piece of fish that is supposed to be ready to eat. Or am I weird for eating the skin?
Basically waitrose CS made me feel like a loon, and although I got a refund in the end, I stalked out and shopped at Sainsburys.

shop I'm glad you had a nice lunch and hope you feel better soon. Being on antibiotics for so long sucks, but fingers crossed they'll do their job this time.

libertydoddle · 02/10/2015 15:22

Glad to hear you got out for lunch shop.

Blair unless described as skinless I would assume it had skin on.

I am in a previous MU venue, enjoying a Wine while catching up on my notes for the week Smile. Love Friday afternoons!

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 02/10/2015 15:26

Blair I realise I have no idea what is skin or scales on salmon I eat it crispy from pan frying. I'm assuming from your post I don't eat the scales.

Lib and Shop sounds very nice.

I had lunch solo in the sun - was very nice but I spend too much every day on it.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 02/10/2015 15:29

Nooo Lib the skin wasn't the issue. The scales were still attached to the skin, all of them. The lady in waitrose made out (among other things she said) that it was normal to remove the skin, ie it doesn't matter if scales are still on.

Yep it's been a gorgeous day/week here, can't believe it's October.

libertydoddle · 02/10/2015 15:35

Sorry Blair. I didn't clock scales! Yes I would expect them to be removed.

Marsha I spend a fortune on lunches but CBA with the faff if bringing my own.

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 02/10/2015 16:34

Aaaaah - yes, would have thought the scales should have been removed (but I don't eat the skin so what do I know?)

FedupNagging · 02/10/2015 17:28

Lib loving your Friday afternoon work ethic.

Blair I can't say I have noticed whether or not there are scales on the skin - I don't eat the skin. Maybe most have gone and few are left, thinking about it.

Shop sorry to hear you are on yet more antib's - hope they work this time. Lunch with dh sounds nice though.

Marsha are you keeping the skinnies? Glad you love the IM boots.

I spent a very unsatisfactory day clothes shopping yesterday - came home with zilch. I was somewhat Sad but dh was very Grin.

Awful

Even worse

Sold out in the store

I also tried on a few peasant blouses in JL and somewhere else but none were any good. Apart from the flared jeans, I am not sure I can work the 70's look.

This Hobbs dress looked great

as did

This dress - I didnt buy though as have no occasion to wear them. There may well be a christening in January so I may be lucky and get one of them in the sales.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 02/10/2015 17:59

Aw Fedup, Zara can be so hit or miss. Both those last two dresses are lovely though, I think the red would look especially good.

Thanks for the fish scales solidarity. Apparently, I should have taken the fish back to get the refund. Would rather eat it than let it go to waste, but if it ever happens again I will definitely be taking a pile of shiny fish scales in to show them!

shopafrolic · 02/10/2015 18:06

Just picked this sweater up from the Woolovers Outlet. I have a Boden cashmere one this colour and love it. My black one of these is brill so thought it was worth it for the price. Size down if you buy. I'm a Small in these! (UK12)

shopafrolic · 02/10/2015 18:07

Fedup I rarely do well in Zara. Your first two links go to the same dress for me though. Like the red Hobbs dress......
Blair Chuckled at you trying to get a refund on fish you had already eaten - sorry Grin
