I'll definitely have to have them shortened stokey, I always have to with MiH.

shop I saw these and thought of you.

maradesbois · 24/09/2015 17:48

Hello,

Like the look of the MiH skinnies too Vegas and Linus. Tempted, I need new jeans. Also love the look of your jumper Linus. Have a navy petit bateau one with gold buttons that wear lots.

Quite warm today, no classes but went to LAPADA fair with dsis. Very tempted by an Art Deco walnut drinks cabinet! That reminds me I ripped the outside leg of my equipment silk pjs by sitting cross legged in them, grr. Have put them in for mending but annoying. They are the right size (honestly Grin) but no stretch in silk.

Marsha agree you so can do the Philo trainers thing.

maradesbois · 24/09/2015 17:50

Shop hope that looking at nice things is cheering you up a bit and that both you and ds are better soon. Xx

FedupNagging · 24/09/2015 18:32

Kitty love that grey cuff. Also thanks for the Boden link - I have a voucher code somewhere. I really liked the tartan coatigans but don't think they would be very versatile.

Amber great outfit today.

Flowers for you Shop. Hope the antib's kick in soon and ds gets better asap. Loving the pineapple jumper.

Both ds3 and I have rotten colds so are feeling very sorry for ourselves - only difference is he has masses of homework to do Sad Whilst I am headed for the sofa!

LinusLovesBretons · 24/09/2015 18:59

I love that Theory jumper shop! And the blouse is a gorgeous colour but I'm not fond of the tie at the bottom.

The A.P.C. Jumper is a keeper. I tried it on with several skirts (which I have never done before, tried it with different items I already have) and it was lovely with a pencil skirt and tucked into an A line skirt as well. It's already dusk so I have no idea if the colours work as the lighting didn't help.

And inspired by amber I also put a white shirt underneath and loved the preppy vibe.

Talking of skirts, can anyone recommend a good brand for opaque tights? I usually go for Falke of Wolford (££££ but really last) but their colour range is a bit limited sometimes. I am looking for some properly dark navy ones.

kitty I bought a Boden coatigan in the sales last year and like wearing it but would never pay fp for it. Well, for any Boden stuff really. Wink

mara that's how I would always ruin my jeans, sitting cross legged. But mine always started to rip next to the crotch on either side of the zip. Hmm

fedup hope you and your DS feel better soon.

Urgh, my periods are going to start any minute now and I have eaten waay to much chocolate today.

Drywhitethanks · 24/09/2015 19:32

Oh Shop that's rubbish, poor you. Thanks
Amber bet you looked lovely. I adore the White shirt under black jumper look.....may try tomorrow.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 24/09/2015 19:47

would it be wrong to buy another button thru denim mini in a different wash? the one i have is a lighter wash and i've seen a darker one and i think it would give me more dressing options. thoughts?

FedupNagging · 24/09/2015 20:15

Definitely go for it One especially if you think it will get lots of wear. Or, can you dye the one you have to a darker shade?

Linus i am sure I bought some navy opaques from John Lewis last winter but unsure as to the actual brand. They won't have been high end though as I refuse to pay £££ for tights which I constantly snag

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 24/09/2015 20:31

the one i've seen and the one i own are both cheap enough that having both won't break the bank and i will wear both of them a lot, they will go with everything really and are very easy to mix and match with stuff

LinusLovesBretons · 24/09/2015 20:34

Go for it one if you'll wear it lots.

lara look at what dress Alexa Chung is wearing here! Wink

VivaVegas · 24/09/2015 21:08

Reporting back, the MiH jeans are a lovely colour and a very flattering cut and I really like them but are way too long (I'm only 5ft 4). How do you get them shortened without ruining the cut and having an awful 'taken up like my mum used to' look??
New Look shoes are nice but a bit tight and pinch so they're going back. I only have one pair of Ghillies, the silver Boden ones which I'm still wearing to work a couple of days a week. I sent the navy Boden ones back as I didn't think I'd get the wear out of them. Black would go with more as I'd wear to work with opagues when it gets colder.
Still undecided on M and S boots, need to try with a few pairs of jeans over the weekend.

KittyHello · 24/09/2015 21:19

Viva I paid £3 more to have them shortened and look exactly the same. They keep the original hem and attach it but you can't see where they've done it, I'm not explaining myself well, I should take a photo but I can't be bothered moving.

how to shorten jeans and keep the original hem In a nutshell it can be done Grin

Fedup Cos last year had nice coatigans iirc although I haven't really looked this year.

Drywhitethanks · 24/09/2015 21:33

Is anyone else struggling with foitwear for work at the moment? Skirts and dresses are ok, but it's with trousers I'm having a problem. Too chilly for ballet/pointy flats, loafers some how look wrong, wedge courts look frumpy and Pettys look good with only skinny trousers Confused

Drywhitethanks · 24/09/2015 21:35

And don't say "nude pop socks" Grin

maradesbois · 24/09/2015 21:39

Vegas, Dry is the expert at shortening jeans whilst retaining the original hem. She did a post about it in the previous thread I think.

maradesbois · 24/09/2015 21:41

Sorry Kitty just saw you already posted how to do it. Think I would pay someone else to do it as well though, no good at sewing.

VivaVegas · 24/09/2015 21:55

I'm rubbish at sewing, would have to get someone to do it for me.
I'm still in ballet flats or ghillies Dry as don't feel it's cold enough for tights or boots yet, but once it gets colder I tend to wear more dresses and skirts with opaques as I struggle with work trousers and shoes as I hate pop socks. I did get some black opaque PPP socks last year which were better than natural ones.

KittyHello · 24/09/2015 22:15

Dry I'm in ballet flats atm, am wearing my black R&B Charming ones a lot, they are my fave autumn shoe wore them to work today with black 7/8 cigarette pants. I'm also wearing LKB Florisa to work with similar type trousers, for the SR I wear either the ballet flats or these

Drywhitethanks · 24/09/2015 22:23

Viva I'm like you, just love opaques and skirts/dresses in A/W. Can do sock less inside but outside its getting chilly. Pettys will come into their own soon.

Drywhitethanks · 24/09/2015 22:25

And Viva are your jeans flares? they are harder to shorten keeping the original hem look.

Longislandicetee · 24/09/2015 22:43

Hello Voguettes! Been away from the thread for a few days but I come bearing links of new purchases! Smile.

I did another trip to R&B last weekend to get stuff for dd. She wanted pink converse so I got her those and then got these these blue converse for me as someone on here was talking about them and so I wanted to give them a go. Flowers to which ever Voguette that was because I love them. Dh and I went to 2 40th parties on Saturday which were very casual affairs and I wore them with blue j crew matchstick jeans, a long tee and a white denim jacket.

I also got these Aquatalia boots into the bag which after much live testing on every Tom Dick and Harry, I have decided to keep. Grin.

This week has seen the debut of a couple of dresses at work. Yesterday I wore this Roland Mouret dress and today this Michael Kors dress.

I have also bought quite a bit of make up stuff including Real Techniques brushes to keep at work.

Sending love to all!

Larastheme · 24/09/2015 23:10

Hope you feel better shop, Flowers,

It's gorgeous, linus, the miu miu not the boden Grin, oh and I wanted to say earlier that I've seen the APC sweater in RL and its so beautiful, super soft, glad its keeper,

dry, I'm like that too, trousers are tricky, I just wear simple high heels, I have a pair of suede marant wedge boots, but feel its too early to wear them,

I bought a vanessa bruno, shirt that I tried a while ago,and couldn't get it out of my mind, its perfect, perfect cut, shape, drapes beautifully, and not stiff, great for work, off duty. ticks all the boxes, I just love vanessa Bruno, never disappoints, also have my eye on a sweater and skirt, but still debating,

shopafrolic · 25/09/2015 12:05

Love those Stans Linus
Fed up of wearing comfy trousers and realised my Joseph leathers have an elasticated waist so am wearing them today with Lib's COS grey sweater dress. Managed to get some make up on too. Feel awful tho.... DS up all night again last night. not easy.
