Ahhhhh, the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness...if for you that means the joy of cosy jumpers, retrieving your favourite coats and jackets from the back of the wardrobe and an excuse to buy new boots then this is the place for you Smile. Come chat about clothes, make up and accessories, budgets from Primark to Prada. Lurkers, newbies and old hands all welcome.

Very nice jumper Vegas. I am sure someone will swoop on one of the Bretons. Did your coated skinnies turn up?

I have deliberately not opened the breton links Viva as have too many and do not need to be tempted to buy more! Nive pink top though.

Shop hope you're ok and that your Dh has managed to get more organised today - he probably completely underestimated what was required of him yesterday and of course, how much time and attention small children need.

Another rugby widow here. I think dh intends to watch most of the games in the pub Hmm but he is going to one of the quarter finals. I might as well write off the next 6 weeks really.

I managed about an hour in a couple of shops yesterday completely forgetting my current spending ban.

Tried on this trench - not a great fit - tried on medium and it was tight across the shoulders and upper arms but far too big everywhere else.

Also tried this in Zara. I love the collar detail on it but ultimately didn't buy it as am not sure how much I'll wear it.

I was about to try on this blouse
and
this dress when the call came to pick up ds so had to dump and run (queue at cash desk was too long to wait in)

Will try to get back into Zara next week.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 18/09/2015 19:04

viva the reaction has calmed down a lot now but i do still have a rash and a lot of flaky, dry and sore skin. thank you for thinking to ask Smile

how are you today shop my lovely? any chance dh can take some leave to help more or is that totally out of the question?

liked todays outfit, black cord button thru aline skirt, disney villians tee and burgundy and navy checked shirt. wore with black velvet flat mary janes and a black bowling bag shaped bag with swallows on it

shopafrolic · 18/09/2015 19:10

DH pulled it back with style today. Cooked a stew for all of us. Fed us by 6pm. Is keeping DS up to watch the opening ceremony but will then put him to bed. I didn't even have to remind him to do the school run so am feeing relieved. Long may it continue.
Am being spoilt by lovely friends with cards, mags, chocs and flowers. Just need to get some more energy but slowly slowly.

libertydoddle · 18/09/2015 19:29

Well done Mr Shop Smile

[beer] and masses of brownie points for your dh Shop. Have you any idea how long your recovery is going to take? Sounds like you have some lovely friends.

Love the sound of your bag One.

Looks like its going to be quiet on here tonight - you all must be out and about having fun.

shopafrolic · 18/09/2015 20:28

Recovery is around 6 weeks apparently. No bath for another week. No driving for 6. Definitely finding I need to rest loads, am sure I will struggle with cabin fever.
My school mum friends are going to take it in turns to give DS tea next week which will help massively as DH needs to be in London at least 3 days.

Pleased with this All Saints cardigan, have been told by 3 visitors that I look stylish which is amazing considering how shite I feel (leggings and no make up not helping). Might paint my nails tomorrow in an effort to feel more groomed. Make up may be a step too far thought. I've been using your Liquid Gold Blair - skin is looking good, shame about the black bags under my eyes.

Am loving these IM boots. Anyone seen a good high street alternative?

FedupNagging · 18/09/2015 20:40

I had a budget of about £200 for a pair of knee length boots this winter and amazingly have come in under budget - saw them, loved them so bought them - these from Next. Hope they don't shred my feet!

Forgot to answer the bag question: I have loads! Some better quality than others - current faves are:
Kate Spade Charles street Haven in grey
Mulberry Somerset in tan

All summer I used:
Orange Fossil preston
Navy Fossil bucket bag

For evenings recently I have been using:
Oasis envelope clutch in salmon
50's inspired frame bag from Linea in champagne and black - can't find a picture but very similar to this. Each time I use it I always get such positive comments.

KittyHello · 18/09/2015 21:57

Shop hope you're recovery well and glad to hear dh has stepped up and is being a star.

Fedup I have that Gap trench and I don't like it, I've had it a while and a trench should suit me as I think I'm a fairly classic dresser but there is something about it that doesn't fit/feel right. In fact it's put me off trenches. Glad you've found your winter boots.

Have had another busy week clearing out my house of crap and paper work, feel as if I've finally scratched the surface.

Am glad of the autumn weather and the Tippi and Pistol staples are back out. Must get Pistols re-heeled.

Re: bag question, pre dc I had loads of bags on all shapes and colours, but now I just use my pliage. Could do with a good cross body bag, I'd quite like an Elizabeth and James Cynnie (sp)

Watching the rugby with a snoring dh on the sofa, surely it should be the other way round, but not me snoring Grin

Drywhitethanks · 18/09/2015 23:08

Clothes shopping is like dominoes....you buy one thing and think it will fit in your wardrobe which will now be complete, but when you get home nothing is quite right so you end up buying something else to go with.....Hmm

So, this jumper arrived, in cream, looks perfect with my Zara tweed turn up trousers and black loafers. Goid work outfit.

Shop goid MrShop and what lovely friends you have Thanks

Liberty I think a work outfit pin board is a genius idea.

Goodness, watched the opening ceremony and got flustered when the muddy rugby players emerged from under them Earth and pushed the big rocks up......great match legs I had to be careful I didn't chop off a finger as I was cooking and using a big knife Grin. Entertaining tomorrow night.

VivaVegas · 19/09/2015 08:38

Good night out, house seems very quiet without the DC this morning (stayed at grandparents) and DH still fast asleep!
Coated skinnies arrived and were so skinny I could just about get them over my feet (and I have very skinny boney feet!) but then couldn't get them past my knees! Luckily I had thrown this cobalt top into the order and it's lovely so I wore it with black coated skinnies and heels. It's poly but I don't mind that when things are sleeveless and in this case low at the back. Will look for some other blue coated skinnies at my leisure!
Dry I love that jumper in the blue, how long is it, it looks quite boxey in the photos but longer on the model?
Enjoy your Saturday's, nice and sunny here.

QueenofCardigans · 19/09/2015 08:46

Morning all. I managed to polish off a whole bottle of wine to myself last night so feeling a little delicate.

Loved yesterday's outfit of black ghillies, dark jeans and navy and black blouse. It was nice to have some warmth and sun.

shop so glad that friends are helping you and that mrshop did well yesterday. As someone else said he probably did underestimate how much work a 4 year old is.

QueenofCardigans · 19/09/2015 08:48

Oh vegas I LOVE that top. Can you wear a bra under it or does it show at the back. Also what is the sizing like?

Drywhitethanks · 19/09/2015 09:25

VivaVegas I love a boxy top. Length wise I'm 5.3" and it comes to about mid bottom at the back (IYKWIM) and mid hip at front.
Measurements from shoulder seam:
Front 54cm
Back 60cm

QueenC you have now got me lusting in a very urgent way for these shoes and I'm popping into town later for curtain lining fabric.......could be an expensive trip Grin absolutely zero self control

Drywhitethanks · 19/09/2015 09:27

VivaV the only thing against the top, and I'm still keeping it, is the cuffs are very loose and sleeves long, I look a bit like an urchin in them but can turn up cuffs

MarshaBrady · 19/09/2015 10:03

I keep checking out this bag for carrying stuff to and from work. Is it madness? Marant Étoile tartan

Shop sounds good.

Vegas lovely links.

Dry fabulous shoes do it, do it

QueenC the top would really suit you

MarshaBrady · 19/09/2015 10:24

Having second thoughts now, maybe not.

AmberNectarine · 19/09/2015 11:04

Morning all

Had an unexpected child free night yesterday so DH and I grabbed dinner and drinks. Only had 5 mins to change so wore black low cut bodycon American Apparel dress, flat black suede OTK boots, rockstud braclet, long gold medallion and burgundy biker jacket. DH approved but I didn't like the gunmetal hardware on my Chanel with the gold elsewhere in the outfit - will be glad to get my rockstud bag back - apparently it is ready to collect.

Today I am having a girls day with DD and my mum. Wearing red plaid shirt, distressed skinnies (Gap true res), frye studded cowboy boots and biker jacket.

QueenofCardigans · 19/09/2015 11:58

dry they are very you but when will you wear them? Aren't they a but high for work?

QueenofCardigans · 19/09/2015 12:00

marsha I quite like it but not sure it's very you.
I'm in sweats and an old tee steam cleaning the house. Will obviously shower and change before ds party later.

QueenofCardigans · 19/09/2015 12:03

Just checked out the rest of s&b. How many frumpy threads to we need Confused

shopafrolic · 19/09/2015 12:17

Not loving the bag marsha. Sorry.
