Shanah Tovah to one and all. Have spent a more fruitful afternoon (!) with my clever inspiring sister (who just got a first in her nursing degree aged 48 )talking nonsense and dipping apples into a big bowl of unctuous honey, in the time honoured way.Star????BD will make an appt with HR tomorrow re VR. Still havering (money)Sad

Rosebag · 15/09/2015 09:04

Thanks for all the New Year wishes??and I extend them to anyone who might be celebrating or who needs a reason to do so. Smile I am grateful to have been invited out to BFF for lunch today. These huge festive gatherings chez nous really take it out of me these days??It seems to takes hours and hours to clear up after. Old bones.

MrsS Could I have your email please? if you're coming on Sunday, that is. Which I hope you are!! Smile

hattymattie · 15/09/2015 09:41

Belated Congratulations to Mrs S - it must be a real relief to put the difficult boss behind you and be able to look forward.

Auriga - horrible re your sister's divorce - I do get the impression many men (and a couple of women I know) sit tight until they have someone else.

Rose - happy new year to you xx(again belated)

Molly - I'm missing meet up as we are coming one week later on The Shuttle to bring DD1's belongings over. I'm not actually sure how she has accumulated so much stuff.

The weather has changed - I can feel my sinuses kicking in.

Auriga · 15/09/2015 10:04

Thank you all for your kindness and concern. DSis has a long way to go before she can see the silver lining but it's there, I'm sure.

Unexpected day off here Smile. So far all I've done is walk the dog and faff about a bit. Maybe I should make a list. Or shall I have another coffee?

herbaceous · 15/09/2015 10:53

OK crepeys. I've booked the massive venue for my 50th. November 27. Get it in your diaries!

bigTillyMint · 15/09/2015 11:15

Herbs, how exciting!

herbaceous · 15/09/2015 11:35

I was going to go for somewhere smaller, but was dithering, and places were getting booked up. The woman phoned this morning asking if I still wanted my provisional booking at the big place, and I panicked and said yes! So, now need to round up all my troops!

motherinferior · 15/09/2015 11:41

It's in!

herbaceous · 15/09/2015 13:19

Excellent! So far I four definites!

You know my endless search for the perfect school run coat, well reader I found it. And it was a bargain. I love it. Although it is massive, and has really long sleeves, in common with other Nordic coats.

I am going to sell three of my other coats that it has rendered redundant.

bigTillyMint · 15/09/2015 13:56

Me too!

That coat is very tempting, but I really don't need one...

herbaceous · 15/09/2015 13:57

Our local TK Maxx was on top form today - loads of amazing bargains. I got a real Puffa coat for DS, and nearly about a million other new coats for me!

BeachysFlipFlops · 15/09/2015 14:26

Me too....????The amount of times you've posted about 'selling four other costs to pay for this one'. I don't know! You are a true coat addict, Herbs Grin

herbaceous · 15/09/2015 14:29

Ah, but I haven't actually bought one for aaaaaages, just talked about it! And in the interim have sold two (2, ii). My net coat collection has gone down. A bit.

bigTillyMint · 15/09/2015 14:57

I am impressed that you managed to sell 2 Herbs - were they in mint condition and did you get £££ for them? Eyeing my collection...

herbaceous · 15/09/2015 15:02

I sold a lightweight Gap jacket (which managed to actually wick water THROUGH its fabric) for £15, and a Zara parka for £12, I think. It was through the local Facebook page, so possibly not as much as eBay, but so much easier!

bigTillyMint · 15/09/2015 15:18

Ooh, you're halfway there Herbs!

I MUST save my money for NYC in 5 1/2 weeksSmile

herbaceous · 15/09/2015 15:56

I've put another one up for £20, and have lots of interest! Wore new coat on the school run, and rather marvellously it pissed down. And I stayed totes dry! The cuffs do come to the end of my fingers, howevs.

CointreauVersial · 15/09/2015 17:36

Nice coat, Herbs, and what a reduction! I love TKMaxx (a bit like an upmarket charity shop, I always think - a lucky dip). I have a similar-style one from Zara, but it is a bit more shiny and not particularly waterproof.

I did recently invest in a lovely pleather biker jacket from Lidl, for the price of a bag of spuds. And, I'm afraid, despite all the Clint Eastwood jibes from various crepeys last winter, I've bought one of those blanket capey things. Tesco, this time (I shop in all the classy retailers). I don't do a school run, really (just slow the car to walking pace as I drive past the school, and open a door), so I'm not particularly worried about industrial-strength warmth.

Well done, MrsS, fab news - I hope it delivers. And Sad BD. I think it's rubbish that they can't just drop you a quick line or give you a call. Courtesy, no?

Auriga - your poor DSis. He does sound a bit of a arse, though.

Herbs - ooh, thanks for the party invite! Will check diary/DH to see if I'm free.

Not familiar with the Jewish holidays, but New Year sounds like a good reason to celebrate - have a good one, Crem and Rose!

hattymattie · 15/09/2015 19:00

Ooh - happy new year Crem too.

Nice coat Herbs - I am impressed by your collection though Smile.

Meltdown over history essay on war memorials here. Rather her than me, I must say.

herbaceous · 15/09/2015 19:17

Today's coat sold already! Another on the selling site... So, three sold, one bought. I'm getting there!

The third one I was going to sell I'm having sentimental pangs about. It's a vintage German army parka, that's been customised on the back, in a Vivienne W style, with a crown and jewels. It's too young for me, really, but I do love it so.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 15/09/2015 19:24

If you love it then keep it Herbs. What on earth do you mean that it's too young?? Wear it and don't care is my advice.

Cremo · 15/09/2015 19:48

Keep it Herbs! I've really regretted a few sales , and it's not worth the anguish. Keep it for another year and if you don't wear it then think again

hattymattie · 15/09/2015 20:00

Herbs - don't sell everything - I love hearing about your coats Wink. The TK Maxx one seems great.

Crem - sorry I missed you - happy new year to you too.

Here DD2 having meltdown about English history essay on war memorials - the year has begun well!
