Yo Crepsters! Popping up again to wave feebly and one and all. It's been a helluva week. There were blue flashing lights at the beginning of it and it's all been a bit ... tricky I was also on The Dreaded List and despite having changed my password umpty-two times, I am still having isshoos when accessing MN via my phone. If I ask it to show me threads I'm on, it does, but then wants me to log in. I find this somewhat suspish, as generally if you're not logged in, it won't show you "threads I'm on" as it doesn't know who you are.
So I'm only posting from the PC at the moment, as that is behind a big fat firewall and doesn't seem to be suffering from any funny business.
I haven't managed to read all the rest of the last thread, but am here to say Big Congratulations to all the GCSE-doers. I'm sorry to hear that your dd had a difficult time on results day, Rudy. I hope she is managing to see her way forward.
Crem, hugs to you. I'm very sorry to hear the news about your workplace.
Herbs, I'm sorry the Dorset weather is not being very friendly this week. Am also sorry that ds is doing his thespy stuff with the Youth Theatre's Combined Arts Week, as he isn't free during the day, so I can't offer him up as a distraction for your ds. (and he is currently off all w/e with the cubs and scouts doing daring activities at PGL) However, he finishes at 5pm on Mon and Tues, so we could do an early evening mini-MU if you fancied it. Things I recommend which are not too far from Lyme = The Electric Palace at Bridport for a real olde time cinema experience. Also crabbing at West Bay. And there is a Boden-tastic cafe on the beach there, the Watch House Cafe, owned by the same people that run the Hive Cafe at Burton Bradstock. There is the SeaLife Centre at Weymouth (don't know how it compares to the aquarium in Lyme, but might be worth a go anyway as there is quite a lot to see and some sort of Lego-related event going on there at the moment) and Sandworld is next to it. And then there is ye olde tramway at Seaton/Colyton. And the spooky caves at Beer (lovely little fishing village, nice even in the rain and has a sweet little visitor centre by the beach which we enjoyed a couple of weeks ago). If it is not tipping down, there is the Swannery at Abbotsbury and a Children's Farm park and Sub-Tropical Gardens there also (think you can get into all of them with one ticket). Abbotsbury is a very picturesque village and worth a look. Slightly further up the coast road (going east) there is a village called Portesham and I have heard that the pub there (the Kings Arms) is currently v good for food. This may be a bit far east for you, but still... That's all I can think of off the top of my head, but do PM me if you think I can be of any help.
