mrsS your neighbour needs an ASBO....

crem your MIL is moving in....? Is that ok? Shock

Rudy that is quite a first day experience...your DD will be fine, bless her. Smile

Beachy good luck with arrivals at college and moving in.. exciting!! Years ago, we drove Ds1 to Leeds with a car full of most of his bedroom at home and his studio computer, decks, miss and recording shizzle. He was quite happy to see the back of us after we'd crippled ourselves having dragged it all up umpteen flights of stairs...hope your Ddad gets over the bug quickly.

stropps there is some progress there, I think....? Wearing you out of course. You are a saint.

I have the MU in my diary...all depends where and timing etc iPad won't copy and paste, sorry. I'm on a train to Bristol having had a 5am start, and not having slept since 3am. Why do people eat chips for breakfast on trains ? The smell makes me want to heave. Thanks all for support re family sitch. I just have to get over it. DM is so beside herself about everything she really can't see beyond the ever decreasing circles she is running around in. Let's see if she can gradually let go a bit and let the nursing and care staff do their job instead of micro managing everything. I am withdrawing a bit now. Will visit next week. This is how it's always been...and why I have to stay at a caring but definite distance in the long run.

hattymattie · 05/09/2015 08:24

Hello Crépies - First of all - fantastic news on DH Beachy and also good luck to DD heading off to uni already.

Rose - soul destroying re all that work on your DDad only to not be kept in the loop. Families can be dreadful sometimes.

Rudy - Grin re bus and A level maths class - glad it's all sorted and sounds positive. The deer head sounds positively mafia.

Here - DS - has pulled off the impossible and managed a class change - apparently there were about 100 requests but as he got in there first and made his own case the Directrice was impressed. I am so pleased - not only because he will be with people he actually likes but also because he seems to have a much better set of teachers in this class.

Today he has gone to Disney with DD1 as they had free tickets to use up. I hope the weather stays good for them.

Stropps - sounds as if by apologising DD maybe developing a bit of self awareness. Maybe the start of a turnaround?

Lalsy · 05/09/2015 09:07

Rudy, I am sorry I laughed too. Your dd sounds wonderful. I hope, as GGG said, less week is less random Grin.

Stropps, sounds like a mini breakthrough to me too - an apology, communication and a plan (all up to a point Grin). Hope you can get a bit of a rest this weekend.

MrsS how did your interviews go?

bigTillyMint · 05/09/2015 09:07

Well done to your DS, Hatty. And Envy at weather staying good for them. It is drizzle here.

I'll add you Rose - you have enough to worry about this morning. Chips for breakfast?

Lalsy - interviews are next week. Smile

If people wanted to meet up somewhere more central, Brasserie Zedel is nice, and not too expensive, although they do tend to have you in and out quite quickly.

I want to go and see Sinatra at the Palladium. If I take DH, we would have to have cheaper seats, but if I go on my own, I can get a good seat... i'll go on my own...

Hatty - we used to have season tickets for Disney, and often used to go after school on a Friday. Grin

Ooh I am excited too, about seeing y'all Grin
The Mil saga is a long and sorry one. She has been house / cat sitting for us while we are away. However also she has left FIL , finally after 20 years of havering after meeting someone from Women's aid at bridge. Also there is another man involved. Honestly you couldn't write this ( with any conviction anyway). They are all octogenarians. So women's aid have found her a flat, but she can't get in until the 11th, so rather than crash back into the complication thst is her life, we are extending the holiday by a few days. ( we are both on leave until 14th anyway)
Dh doesn't quite know how to feel about things ; he has had a brittle relationship with his father, who is not a pleasant person. But his mum is elderly and the idea if her living alone is horrifying at best.
We have ' let it happen ' in a way by not intervening, but mil had it all planned anyway, and nothing would have stopped her. It's never straight forward is it. ??

Re 26th I will be without wifi after tomorrow , but can help with booking on my return next week. My phone makes me log in every single post, so vv frustrating. V pleased lots of peeps can come Smile

Cremo · 05/09/2015 09:37

Looking up Brass. zedel: be nice to go somewhere different ( for me as a tourist Grin

Cremo · 05/09/2015 09:48

The Prix Fixe at 2 courses fro £9.75 or whatever is bargainous . Looks lovely Mrs S!

herbaceous · 05/09/2015 10:19

Ooh, I'd go for the 'formule' menu! Celeriac remoulade, mmmm, boeuf bourguignon, mmm, iles flotants, mmmmm. Crikey - that proved a battle with autocorrect...

MrsSchadenfreude · 05/09/2015 10:40

It's also not expensive if you go a la carte. And the puddings, oh my God, the puddings... and I am not a pudding person. (No comments there please...)

Zedel looks great. Generally speaking I now order a steak so there is no faffing over what might have wheat in it, and that's what I'd have: the French aren't tolerant of allergies ime.

Crem, I think it is quite heartening that your MIL's life is so racy at eighty and that she is able to LTB thanks to bridge. I hope you don't get dumped with looking after the unpleasant FIL now that MIL has finally slipped her chains.

wilbur · 05/09/2015 10:53

Crem - Shock re your MIL. But then, as the Crepey Code states, it's never to late to correct something that is not working. I hope any fallout from this doesn't hit you and dh though.

Happy to go to Brasserie Zedel as well. I keep being invited to things at the Crazy Coqs [childish snort] which is in the same building but never seem to be able to go. I think they have some great music there.

Stropps - sorry that you've had another stressful week, but hopefully the routine of 6th Form will kick in and make it easier for everyone to keep calm and carry on.

Right, better press on. I have lists to make and tick off.

Cremo · 05/09/2015 11:26

Rose- would Zedel suit you ok? Gluten-free and all?

I am already full to bursting with creme brûlée , steak frites and tarte au citron Blushbut there's always room for more. Grin

bigTillyMint · 05/09/2015 12:52

Ooh MrsS, Sinatra? If you need a friend (paying their way!) I'm keen!

Brasserie Zedel looks parfait MrsS - let's do it! We could do drinks elsewhere before/after if its a quick turnover place?

Cremo, go your MIL! Good idea to stay away till she's sorted thoughWink

Cremo · 05/09/2015 13:26

There is. The American Bar beside ( same owners) that does cocktails etc.
I will be in Central London by 4pm

bigTillyMint · 05/09/2015 13:37

Cool, cocktailsGrin) sounds like the American Bar from 4pm, followed by Zedel then?

BeachysFlipFlops · 05/09/2015 17:56

Sounds great..... I've dropped her off and I'm at the airport waiting to fly back. We emptied sainsburys and filled her cupboards, some fridge and freezer stuff too. We scooped up her lovely friend who was at sixth form with her and took him to lunch and then she dropped me here.... Didn't meet anyone from her flat but they have drinks tonight. She has a Swiss Roll and some rosé to share....classy!

I'm exhausted....Grin

Very happy for your MIL, Crem.... Never too late.

Thanks for all well done's for dh. He handed his notice in and then realised that as he's still on probation (he only started in August), that his notice is only a week! So he'll be back at home again! Will I ever get a day to myself again????

GiddyGiddyGoat · 05/09/2015 18:46

Great suggestion Mrs S - Zedel looks lovely and just the ticket! Definitely up for that. How shall we go about booking?

GiddyGiddyGoat · 05/09/2015 20:21

I'm wearing thick tights, furry slippers, a long sleeved denim dress and a thick long cardie... and I'm FREEEEEZING cold. Off to make some soup...

motherinferior · 05/09/2015 20:34

I bought thermals and thickish tights today. I was in fact out with MrsS at the time. Who will bear witness that DP informed me by phone that he has purchased...

...wait for it...

A SPORTS CAR.

It is of course red. He spent his own money on it, which has set him back, he alleged "a couple of grand" and turns out to be more than double slightly more. He does not have this money...it's his overdraft, but I am not madly impressed.Angry

GiddyGiddyGoat · 05/09/2015 20:41

Bloody Hell MI!!! At least it's not a flat... I would be SO unimpressed that I would be Mrs Unimpressed from Stoneyville Central - for the next 5 years.

Lovely pic of your dd on fb Beachy - were there tears? (Yours?).

Managed to buy ds1 some things for uni today - some pants and socks and a pair of scissors... it's a start.

Lalsy · 05/09/2015 20:49

MI Shock. Bloody hell.

GGG, that'll cover every eventuality, surely?

Crem, never too late indeed. Hope things settle down and how wise to take the long road....

bigTillyMint · 05/09/2015 21:02

A red sports car, MI? Is he having a mid-life crisis?! can I have a ride in it?

Beachy, I loved your DD's pic on FB. It brought back memories, and spurred me on to hunt out the old photo's for a meet-up with my old uni friends for a 50th next weekendSmile

motherinferior · 05/09/2015 21:14

He's 50. Too old for a midlife crisis, as I told him the other day. In retrospect this may not have been a good idea...

GiddyGiddyGoat · 05/09/2015 21:17

Sorry MI, but I fear that is peak mid life male crisis age...
