Not quite sure how that went so quickly. Continuing the search for stylish bargains. Lurkers welcome - bring links and a smile :)

beautiful dresses and sweater Santa just out ff interest what's your style personality or do you not strictly follow one and buy whatever you think suits you?

Dry am watching your list closely as I think I'm going to the same area as you. I have been on weather alert for ages now.

Blair not cross body, but would you consider something like this Elizabeth and James bag

BerniceBobsHerHair · 05/08/2015 09:52

Welcome back Santa hides Boden catalogue

That's funny your DH said that about the jumper, it is a white jumper, no?? Did the Cranes used to wear similar? Off to google.

Ah the cricket jumper

I enjoyed reading all your style rules and had a think about what mine would be - but I can think of many things I think don't suit me, but haven't worked out the stuff that does Grin

Personally my style conundrum (for want of a better expression) is being stylish / looking good within the constraints of the wet weather here (where I live seems to be particularly rainy Confused) and the daily routine with young DC.

Blair I like the look of the AH maxi zip and also love the Hobo Hillier. I don't own either but the hobo hillier seems like it may be a bit small?

Well done on the jogging btw.

QueenC the holiday sounds fab.

Like your mih top Fedup.

Hope DS is recovering well Dry. I think you should take khaki skimmers instead of one of the jimmy jimmies. Just so you have a different colour in the mix and the khaki will go wtih the tops you are taking.

Hello to everyone else, has taken me ages to catch up so far!

MyVegasBaby · 05/08/2015 11:32

Lots going on since I last came on. Have had a couple of days at the beach so no wifi. Relaxing day at the pool today and have bought a pair of Whistles dark skinnies in their final sale markdown for £25. Never had Whistles jeans but thought id try for that price with free delivery and returns.
For those that have the Me & Em rouched dresses what is the sizing like and are they suitable for work? They have good final reductions and look suitable for going into AW with a blazer and opaqueness maybe? Definitely don't need any summer clothes and pleased with what I brought away, all apart from a couple of dresses being well worn.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 05/08/2015 11:55

Morning!

Dry I really agree with Lib's post, especially if you have access to a washing machine. If you get bored without choice, I would take more accessories, like 2 hats, a few bits of jewellery, a couple of belts. Laughed at "bloody wheelchair" Grin

Thanks for bag thoughts! I will try an AH maxi zip sometime as I saw shop's close up at the first MU I went to and know how gorgeous it is. Bernice I think you're right that the Hillier might be a bit small. Cranagh good tip on the Mulberry :) betty I do like that bag but I want to avoid a) bucket bags and b) backpacks as I think they are a bit more trendy than I want.
Not sure what it is about the Natasha but it's not grabbing me. I think I will have to wait until the sales tbh, which is annoying as I will have to avoid spending the money on other things first Grin If only I'd thought of this 2 months ago.

santa love the summer buys, they are all so you. Hope you're having a lovely holiday. I think everyone struggles with swimwear shopping, except a lucky few that are blessed with cup size in proportion to back size as the manufacturers all think we are. (Like if you have a small back you must have small boobs too, yeah right).

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 05/08/2015 12:09

MVB I bought 2 of those dresses recently, for work. I'm a solid 10 and wear an M (have a slight Me+Em dress addiction, got 4 of them now). They are fab - great material and fit me really well. The current style ones are very fitted on the bottom and have lots of material on the top, which I like because they balance me out.

OneLittleLady · 05/08/2015 12:25

sorry that i'm so quiet all. i'm feeling pretty low. i'm piling weight on again at a rate of knots despite eating sensibly and walking around as much as i can. the scales just keep going up. i had an almighty lecture from the practice nurse yesterday and she made me feel like a piece of crap tbh. she told me i need to go to the gym and go swimming and when i questioned her as to have i'm meant to do that when i can't even walk without aides she just shrugged and told me to find a way. I know i weigh a lot, an awful awful lot and I also know it's the medications causing it, my sensible brain knows that but i'm still really upset and feel really low even though I know it's nothing i'm putting in food wise that's doing it Sad I eat the right things, in the right quantities, i move around as much as i'm able to so i don't know what more i can do than i already am. weirdly though I've dropped a jeans size but yet the scale numbers keep climbing. oh i don't know, i just feel crappy and out of sorts

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 05/08/2015 12:49

Oh One sorry to hear it. You do sound low. That nurse sounds horrible :( you've done so well on the weight loss in recent months so could this be a blip? Especially if you've actually gone down a jeans size.
Are you on summer hols from uni at the moment? Maybe you need something else to focus on, come and chat lots when you feel like it Flowers

MyVegasBaby · 05/08/2015 13:02

Thanks Blair have you got the wrap top or cowl necked top? I think I'll need a M too. Have just looked again and could easily spend a fortune!
Sorry to hear you are feeling down One, I haven't been on here long enough to know your health issues but sometimes a change of focus with your diet or finding a new interest can help make you feel better about yourself.

OneLittleLady · 05/08/2015 13:03

She was horrible blair I know it's all part of the anti obesity drive they have to be part of so they have to say something. She basically looked at me like I ws crazy when I said it's not me, it's my medications and wouldn't even look at my medication list as she said all I have to do is eat 3 meals a day and go do more exercise and I'll lose weight. it isn't as simple as that when you have complex health issues and a medication list the size of your arm! I'm trying not to let her get to me as I know it's nothing I'm doing. Maybe she was tired and at the end of her shift so things came out rougher than they should have, who knows.

BrandyAlexander · 05/08/2015 13:11

Oh One, I am solo sorry the nurse made you feel like this.ThanksThanksThanks

Topazandpearl · 05/08/2015 13:19

Sorry to hear about the horrible nurse one Flowers. I always put weight on during the summer as I am less busy so maybe it is just that? Don't lose sight of how well you have done and if you are going down in size, you can't be putting much, if any, on. Just a thought, do you think her scales need re calibrating, as it doesn't really make sense?
As Blair said, come and talk to us on here when you are feeling down.

OneLittleLady · 05/08/2015 13:23

maybe she'd just had a bad day and it came out badly. I'm under no illusions about how much I weigh, I know it's too much but she just came over so badly with what she was saying and just seemingly ignored the fact that I can't just pop on a treadmill or nip out swimming. nevermind, like i said, maybe she'd had a bad day, was tired and at the end of her shift so perhaps it just came out more harshly than she meant it

The first of my dress patterns has been cut, just need to make time to sit with MIL and get it sewn together. It's going to be a star wars dress, the fabric is blue with millennium falcons on it Grin Grin

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 05/08/2015 13:34

That sounds fab One, can't wait to see it!

MVB this one with the cowl neck. I haven't tried the wrap ones as I worry that they'd be too cleavagey for work on me. Wearing this wrap style dress today which is a bit boobalicious Blush but I love it, found by the lovely novice!

libertychick · 05/08/2015 13:46

Big hugs one. If it was that easy everyone would be thin! Most practice nurses have only very limited knowledge about weight management and clearly yours has not had her motivational interviewing training.

QueenCardigan · 05/08/2015 16:09

one that sounds pretty awful and insensitive of her. Star Wars dress sounds fab though.

I thought we had acclimatised to the heat. Turns out that we'd only acclimatised to temperatures of 30-32 as when it was 37 earlier today we were wilting! Went to the most gorgeous beach though. Dd is loving snorkelling. I did it today but somehow ended up swallowing a huge amount of sea water and was nearly sick Grin.

OneLittleLady · 05/08/2015 16:25

thanks all, i'm trying to just let it go but it's hard when someone comments so harshly, especially when you thought you were doing okay. I'm wondering if it might be worth applying for some funding to get an assistant of sorts, someone who could help me get in the swimming pool and things.I suppose it can't hurt to ask at least and I know there is funding available for things like that but I'm not certain if i'd qualify for it or not so i will ask.

The other material I have for another dress is sugar skulls and I also have enough fabric in a old fashioned halloween print for a skirt. I got them in the US, could have spent all day int he craft and fabric shop, so much better than the offerings in hobbycraft and similar here!

shopafrolic · 05/08/2015 16:38

So many posts since last night Shock
Love that Marant top Santa and the VB dress. Can really 'see' you in them. Glad I can keep my Boden cashmere and the swimwear Grin - for high street the cashmere is pretty good quality, washes well and the pink is nice and bright for me which is good.
Dry too many cardigans and the weather doesn't justify as many shorts......
One horrid insensitive woman, keep up with your positive thinking (go back over conversations with Sleep maybe?) - hugs for you
linus nice cuff, no spare pennies here this month though - i've bought enough.
Take care in that heat QueenC
I will have missed loads so apologies......

well reduced Pashli
green Rockie
Marcie with a good discount

OP posts:
BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 05/08/2015 17:26

Thanks shop! I would actually love a Marcie. Just the right combination of slouch and structure. It's my birthday in 2 weeks so maybe I need to ask my mum to give me cash (she'll hate that) Wink Can it be worn crossbody though?
This colour Marcie is to die for!

Not sure on Rockie as I remember Amber saying her Rocco aged badly. I do like them both though.

My sister is going to the US in a couple of months so any US brand bag would wait til then. I might check how much a full price Pashli or Rocco is in dollars.

Fedupnagging · 05/08/2015 18:20

Gosh, it's been a bit busy on here today with some fab bag links.

One sorry you are not feeling great atm. It sounds like the nurse just didn't look at the whole picture ie the meds you are on and your current state of mind and just waded in. Very insensitive of her and narrow minded.
Flowers

Gorgeous VB dress Santa

I would be interested to hear how the whistles jean fair MVB - JL always seems to have them at a decent discount in the sales but I've never tried any on.

Queen enjoy the last few days of your hols.

Blair you looked fab in that dress and yes love the colour of the marcie.

LinusDKD · 05/08/2015 18:29

That colour Marcie is gorgeous blair!

Please don't feel down one! You have achieved so much in difficult circumstances and not just weight loss.

shopafrolic · 05/08/2015 19:02

They weren't specifically for you Blair I just thought they were good bags with mega discounts - can see you with a Marcie though......

OP posts:
santamarianovella · 05/08/2015 19:12

one don't be upset, clearly the nurse, doesn't know your condition,
your dress sounds great!

bernice you are right! And here is another one, think its tennis? I did wear it withe skinny black wool trousers and rossi heeled sandals so didnt look like I belong to a 1930s country club.

betty, I don't think i know what my style personality is, maybe its minimal polished boho, i think! there are loads of things that I like, but when I try them on,and Even if it looks good,I just can't stand myself in them IYKWIM,

shop Its very hard finding reasonably priced basics now days, and I think boden are good at filling this gap, I'd really like to know how its performing in France, i think it would do well,as the french are secretly in love with anything Anglophile even if they don't admit it!

linus think I'd join you, but I'm not having any treatments that involves shoving tubes or needels up my bum, thats really not my style Wink, I just want to sleep without interruptions, that's all I want really, ! My PIL went to the lanserhof clinic in Austria ,a few years ago, they wanted to "discreetly" and "quickly" lose a few pounds, they vowed to never do it again! There is a good one near to you though,

I'm loving loads of AW stuff, but I'm still enjoying wearing summer clothes as we don't get to wear it much,

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 05/08/2015 19:18

Sorry shop Blush Grin It did help me though!

LinusDKD · 05/08/2015 19:21

I agree santa, colonic irrigation isn't really something I want to try.

I once had an enema in hospital before I had my laparsocopy and hysteroscopy and that was enough to put me off for life.

What is the name of the good clinic near me? Maybe I can go awol for a few days. Wink
