Not quite sure how that went so quickly. Continuing the search for stylish bargains. Lurkers welcome - bring links and a smile :)

love this

Ujjayi · 24/07/2015 08:39

Marsha hope your morning is hangover free Wink

QueenC great links. Those Aquazzura heels are gorgeous. And I'd be snapping up the IM rollneck if it came in navy or black. Decent slouchy oversized knits are so hard to find.

Stokey if you happen to be reading I hope all went smoothly this morning & you are now in sunnier climes.

Fedupnagging · 24/07/2015 08:45

If anyone is headed towards Spain, it is sooo hot daytime and evenings. Loose fitting cotton and linen is what I'm wearing off beach and no makeup (just slides straight off) except lipstick (Bobbi Brown sandwash pink).

Whilst the weather is fab, it is horrendous for my hair which is just a mass of frizz all.the.time Sad. Am wearing it scraped back including the fringe mostly. Despite my very best efforts I look nothing like the relaxed laid back beach babes on pin Grin

Off to the beach in a minute for breakfast hangover cure and a day reading.

Those off on hols, have a fab time.

shopafrolic · 24/07/2015 09:26

Love those shoes QueenC - jumper is fab too but not long enough for me.
Happy hols to all those heading off this weekend. Fedup hope you're having fun.
Not much to report here although the Outnet delivery will be here today with the Equipment sweater so will report back then.

Fedup we're heading to Greece but it is very hot there too so I'll be joining you with frizzy hair. I have bought anti frizz shampoo, conditioner and serum to try and combat it! Enjoy your day, sound bliss.

BerniceBobsHerHair · 24/07/2015 10:06

Hello all,

Fedup I think I am the same as you on the beach Grin I also suffer from frizz, this kind of drizzly weather is perfect for frizz too.

Good luck to all those with early starts - hope you have fab holidays. We are going away this week too (UK) so must be the week for it. I love packing light - 3 bottoms and 3 tops for me, job done (It is easier when you don't have to factor in beach / going out stuff though).

To add to QC's fantasy shpping, just thought I would link this amazing shoe porn

Trying something new today and wearing a striped top under my denim jumpsuit (which has been my most worn summer purchase I think) plus either Avorcas sandals or Nike trainers, depending if it stops raining or not Hmm

I know this runs contrary to what has been said upthread about buying well made classics, but I've bought some dungarees on sale - but wondering if they will still be current for AW or if that particular trend has sailed - thoughts?

Shop look forward to hearing how the outnet sweater is.

Liberty alerted me to the Toast sale - which as a further 15% today.

BrandyAlexander · 24/07/2015 10:11

Morning! Okay I have been reading all about your holiday packing. I think I take twice that!!!Shock You have now all got me worried because we are going on holiday soon. This is the package holiday that I booked so for the first time we are not going BA club. Seriously, what else are you packing if you have so few clothes?! To give an indication of my increasing panic I take a different bikini for each day of a 2 week holiday!

MyVegasBaby · 24/07/2015 10:43

Novice you are not alone. Will be packing tonight but have a list:
6 going out dresses
1 jumpsuit
Black chino shorts
Black 7/8 jeans
4 tops to go with the above shorts/jeans
6 pairs sandals
1 pair flip flops
Gazelles to travel in
2 pairs denim shorts
A pile of tops to go with the above
5 kaftans/day dresses
Underwear for evenings
4 bikinis/ 1 tankini/1 swimsuit
I'm pretty sure I'll get this on my 20kg luggage allowance!

QueenCardigan · 24/07/2015 10:54

14 bikinis Shock. I only own 2! And I'm only adding in a swimsuit in case I burn my tummy which hadn't seen the light of day for years. How many cases do you take? We just take 2 and then have a medium rucksack with our beach towels and swim stuff so that we can use it tomorrow if needs be before we can get in the villa.
fedup glad it's hot and luckily I don't suffer with frizz but it'll be interesting to see what dd curly hair does. One weather forecast says thunderstorms for one day next week so we'll get very wet as I'm not taking waterproofs.
bernice not sure about dungarees. Certainly here the trend never took off (I still haven't seen a pair of flares here either unless you count 10yr old boot cuts) but if they're relatively cheap and you look them why not?

I'm currently in soft play hell. Just consoled myself with tea and biscuits . Didn't reach my target weight last stubborn pound so I may as well eat biscuits now Grin

AmberNectarine · 24/07/2015 11:14

I'll be wearing my dungarees come A/W!

Ujjayi · 24/07/2015 12:39

OMG...6 pairs of sandals MVB Shock??! Wow! I'm away for a month & taking 2 (one silver, one tan) plus a pair of pale gold leather flip flops!! I need to see your packing technique Grin

I find that I want to wear a good evening outfit more than once so I don't take one per day.

I am with Novice on the multiple bikinis tho - but I only take 6 Wink

Emergency Boden order has arrived with white chino shorts (which I had previously ordered & returned!). I also ordered some Hilfiger ones which I think I will prefer but at this point I needed a back up plan just in case. I also got the block-print bikini in green. Will try on & report back.

Popped into Boots for sun lotion, mozzie repellant etc. £75 Shock. I swear they triple the prices at the till. I only ever seem to have a "few things"...didn't even sneak in any nail polish either!

In more positive news...my sewing machine has spontaneously sorted itself overnight & is working again. So relieved, if only to avoid the JL haberdashery staff who were ultra patronising when I rang to arrange for it to be fixed.

OneLittleLady · 24/07/2015 12:46

flamingo bag no 1 has arrived and i love it. it's bigger than i thought it would be which is a bonus and has a nice long cross body strap. i was worried it would be satin material which can be so hard to clean but it's not, it's a sort of reinforced cotton so should be okay for spot cleans. very pleased overall

MyVegasBaby · 24/07/2015 13:23

Ujj in my defence 4 of them are very flat Gigi or Gigi style so very flat and light! The other 2 slightly higher but no proper heels.
Glad the Boots thing wasn't just me, as I raised my eyebrows when mine came to £92 on Wednesday evening, crazy.

Ujjayi · 24/07/2015 15:53

One glad you love your bag, fingers crossed the cardigan is as good too.

Amber & Bernice I'd love to wear dungarees but I'm not sure they would suit me anymore and I wore them as a student... I do love them on others though. The Frugality seems to wear them a lot as does DMBL40. Like QueenC I haven't seen any worn locally nor flares. Clearly I live in the land that current trends forgot.

QueenC hope the pain of soft play has eased now. I have two bored and therefore troublesome DCs here but both way too old for soft play options!

FedUp - weather in Spain sounds fab but effect on your hair sounds hard to deal with. I too always have high hopes for being Pin-worthy chic on holiday but it never happens! I always look slightly frazzled.

Boden bikini is fab. It's this one . They've changed the support in the top so that it is shaped and sewn in - instead of those weird triangular flat sponge things. Very flattering. Chino shorts are good too although a bit longer than I ideally wanted. Might take them up a little if I keep them.

libertychick · 24/07/2015 16:01

Am very Envy of you all packing for holidays.

Novice Grin at 14 bikinis - you loon! I would pack 2 bikini's and 1 all in one for a 2 week holiday. And Shock at 6 pairs of sandals. That said I am a bit of a slob on holidays and tend to wear the same thing all the time.

Boden cashmere has arrived and I'm going to return. It's lovely, good length, good autumn colour but for some reason just not feeling the love for it. My Uniqlo order also arrived:

I am returning this vest as it's more spring that autumn colours.

Print on this dress is lovely but it's slightly too short for me so going back.

Have spent about 20 minutes debating this dress but have decided to return. It's ever so slightly cut too high under the arms (fussy or what!!!). I kept thinking 'but it will be great on holidays' but actually in the heat a slightly uncomfortable cut just wouldn't work.

Now for the keepers....

Plain cream sweater perfection Not too heavy, not too light, slouchy without being shapeless, lovely soft cotton and cheap as chips!

Love this t-shirt I think it's probably not quite autumnal but I loved it the minute I put it on, great cut and I love the print.

Perfect autumn colours and again great shape.

QueenCardigan · 24/07/2015 16:41

They look fab lib. With the temperatures at 13 degrees today I want a/w clothing.
ujjayi it's weird isn't it seeing all these fashions such as dungarees etc on pin and blogs so much but then not irl. Is it just Londoners/fashionistas that wear these things? I wonder if everyone else on dmbl40 school run dress like her.
Period has started. Great timing. Although at least I get the migraine today.

shopafrolic · 24/07/2015 18:29

Equipment is a keeper. Love it. Probably ideally should be pure black and white check rather than off white but the print is strong enough and the silk front is just lush.

OP posts:
libertychick · 24/07/2015 18:36

Yay Shop. I agree if the print is strong enough (high contrast) it would work on you.

Ujjayi · 24/07/2015 18:52

Lib love the cream sweater and the last tank you linked to. Think I may follow your lead on the sweater Wink

QueenC Sorry you are feeling bluergh.

Shop well done on the Equipment top.

The DCs have been installed in front of The Maze Runner, giving me time to make my first toile for my holiday wardrobe - a white maxi with sari detailing. Looks great even at this stage (sorry if that's immodest - I'm just rather Grin that things are finally working out!) so should have it finished by tomorrow afternoon.

Off to the pub for wine & gossip tonight so better get ready. Think the IM is going to make it's second appearance. That's already put it at high street prices at cost per wear Wink

MarshaBrady · 24/07/2015 18:58

Lovely Uniqlo stuff Lib, really like the ones you kept esp.

Shop good one on the Equipment.

I take 3 bikinis but dh is the light packing king in his mind he always says he doesn't need any space, and I hold him to that otherwise we're in trouble. I always forget what I took last time, what was good, what I wore. I should try and remember and get better at it.

Got soaked today, shoes completely flooded, trousers wet from knee down.

Madeleine T jumper turned up. It's good, so I'm keeping it. The price is about right for me.

MarshaBrady · 24/07/2015 18:58

Sounds fab Ujj, glad the sewing machine has fixed itself btw

MarshaBrady · 24/07/2015 19:00

Bernice I think you could still wear them.

shopafrolic · 24/07/2015 19:15

Successful shopping Marsha and Lib - love it
Wish I could sew Ujjayi I have the machine but have only managed Christmas decorations so far......

MarshaBrady · 24/07/2015 19:15

The weather is making me look at AW stuff.

I feel like someone needs to end up with these Valentino ankle boots.

shopafrolic · 24/07/2015 19:32

Me (in my dreams) Hmm
