Unilateral decision... No space for consultation. Call me Dave...

I should take DD on a tour of TK Maxx's? I remembered the Brixton one but didn't know there was one in Balham. The good thing about the New X one is the easy parking.

I agree Herbs - some babies/toddlers are much more appealing than others!

herbaceous · 29/05/2015 12:32

I seem to remember the one in Clapham Junction was pretty amazeballs. My local, the one in Leyton, is apparently one 'to keep an eye on', but might be slightly out of your way!

bigTillyMint · 29/05/2015 12:36

Lol!

NUFC69 · 29/05/2015 13:02

I agree about some babies/toddlers being more appealing than others, but my DGC are the best ... Doting GM emoticon.

I spent a holiday with relatives in Balham when I was a child; has it been gentrified? It used to be hideous (mind you, this must have been the 50s).

BTM, my novel was full of steamy sex, and no, it wasn't published- thank God I got rid of it years ago. Angry

I have another cough and cold, which must be the fourth attack since Christmas. Off holiday shopping this afternoon which probably means I will see nothing I like.

MollyAir · 29/05/2015 13:18

Yes, gentrification agogo, NU. If you ever come to London, allow me to show you the Balham sights. Grin

Belated congrats to MI and WAF on finishing your books. I give you Colm Toibin:

"Writing is always a battle against your own laziness."

You have done amazingly well in combatting laziness. I find laziness + defeatism = total inertia.

bigTillyMint · 29/05/2015 13:26

NU what a shame you threw it away - bet it was great!

Balham is indeed gentrified. BFFs moved away just as it was really taking off.

Freezing in the wrong clothes today. And desperately trying to not look at summer clothes as I have loads and we are going to need our ski jackets not bikinis for NZ. What was I thinking?

CointreauVersial · 29/05/2015 13:30

DS has just pushed off to GF's house, having spent a whole three hours locked away in our conference room doing GCSE past papers. Amazing what can be achieved without the multiple distractions at home.

It's like the Marie Celeste in the office today - one of the engineers is getting married, so several people are at the wedding, and almost everybody else seems to be working from home. I'm not sure I can be bothered to over-exert myself this afternoon. I might just stay on MN....

wilbur · 29/05/2015 14:10

I'm in the Cotswolds for the weekend - it is marvelously quiet. Smile Weather not great at the moment, but supposed to be better tomorrow. Might take kids to cinema this afternoon but not sure what's on. I want to see Perfect Pitch 2 but dd has already been. The renters who just stayed here have left a pouch of instant frozen margarita in the freezer, hooray, so that's Friday Cocktails sorted.

Also Crepeys, meant to say that if anyone's student (preferably 18+) is looking for an internship this summer, there is one going in my office for someone with an interest in the business side of theatre/drama. Answering phones, filing, sitting in on meetings, reading stuff, chance to see a bit of theatre - nothing v taxing, and we are v nice to work for. PM me if anyone you know is interested & feel free to send this on to others.

lalsy · 29/05/2015 14:57

Wilbur, how many weeks do you want your intern for?

I need to go summer clothes shopping but feel more like putting on woolly socks at the moment!

I am not writing a novel, and am in awe of those who do.

Rosebag · 29/05/2015 15:34

Wish I was a student, 18 plus, wilbur I'd absolutely love to do that....instead I am facing no work after next week until September and bookings look horribly sluggish even for then, at the moment. Our bookings administrator is implying that I'm greedy for complaining as I will have just finished teaching two courses concurrently at the end of next week. Doesn't she understand that creditors don't make allowances for fairness in course allocation. Cotswolds sound lovely, even in the rain.

It's not that I don't like babies. I love them..but I don't want any to babysit at the moment. I am thoroughly put off by Ria's comments in one of the clips I posted, about becoming a grandma and being expected to facilitate her daughter in laws freedom by carrying on with the child care and domestic drudgery for her.

I too have the utmost admiration for the Crepey novelists. I am in awe, truly. ConS has been in touch, and feels we have loads of material from our own revelations. I am reeling from some of his, which have truly made me cry. You think you know someone....

Absolutely froze in Brighton with Dd. so glad though that we didn't plan a day doing coastal walking. We'd have been blown down the estuary! The bravissimo assistant was amazing with Dd...she has a lot of scarring on her chest from earlier surgery and abnormal growth on the left side. The assistant dealt with it so kindly and discretely. We have now three bras in the right small back sizes and they have informed me that we have enough points for a free bra to the value of £30!! Result. I have also been dragged around new look, Victoria's Secret, BHS and American Apparel. We are now back in the village with tea and cake. I have been saving my syns.

How is the prom dress shopping going rudy tilly and others? I am jealous of tilly in the Kings road. Never forget striding down it in new romantic gear, ruffles and so on, a line of blushes down each cheek, a quiff and both exH and I in eyeliner. Good times. Smile

hattymattie · 29/05/2015 15:41

Wilbur that would be perfect for DD1 if we lived in London and if she wasn't trying to fit her holiday work round her interrailing!

herbaceous · 29/05/2015 16:03

I'm a student who's over 18. However, this year has given me enough unpaid work to last a lifetime.

Just booked a week's holiday in Lyme Regis for August. Lovely Lyme Regis.

hattymattie · 29/05/2015 16:19

oooh French Lieutenant's Woman.Smile

herbaceous · 29/05/2015 16:37

We went a few years ago, and had a great time. Lots of lovely beaches, dinosaur ephemera, ice cream, lovely cafes on lovely beaches, Peco-rama (a brilliant model railway place), fish and chips, etc etc.

Assignment is limping on, but my feeling is now that it might be OK. Might.

Not been for ages, I'm afraid...

DD2 and I have avoided meltdown (it was a close shave at times) and are heading home - I must finish a couple of bits of work when we do. Though the train is taking forever.

Do we have a Crepey view on Fitflops? The black toe post ones?

lalsy · 29/05/2015 17:42

I love 'em, MI, but can no longer wear them for whole days.

Rudy, I haven't been for years, but everyone always seems to stay, as we did, "off the Ramblas" especially the university quarter - is that still a thing? dd went last summer with friends and stayed in a resort down the coast and they got the train in to Barca for days out

chibi · 29/05/2015 17:48

Stay in eixample - close to everything but far enough away that you miss all the drunken shenanigans

Beautiful buildings there too

chibi · 29/05/2015 17:51

Can anyone recommend some sort of thing I can use to fry off the top layer of my face to reveal a radiant and glowing new underlayer

Or does this exist?

herbaceous · 29/05/2015 18:04

There's lots of talk of acid tors on other threads, but I can't seem to understand what they are, or where you get them.

QueenQueenie · 29/05/2015 18:08

This is good Chibi... effective but gentle - so not sure it's going to ft the bill if it's really face frying you're after. Why would you want to do that??

OP posts:
NUFC69 · 29/05/2015 18:15

I would need more than a little something to get down to glowing skin on my face, Chibi.

I have been to Lyme Regis once: we found an ammonite on the beach, I remember. DS was about 3 and he had a temper tantrum in a car park and threw himself down on his knees on the gravel. Then he did have cause to cry!

chibi · 29/05/2015 18:23

I think I just want to look good, which seems to require increasingly more effort.

motherinferior · 29/05/2015 18:29

Hmmm....glycowossname peeling?
