Unilateral decision... No space for consultation. Call me Dave...

Welcome, Chibi.

Hair, mm. I delude myself that mine isn't really grey, which it isn't (but only because I have blonde highlights). I have just grown my fringe out and really quite like It atm, although it takes a lot of maintenance with Ojon to keep it looking remotely healthy.

I did write a book once - when I was in my teens, so many moons ago. I am very impressed by the literary ambitions of so many Crepeys.

Herbs, I hope the assignment is progressing a bit better?

NUFC69 · 28/05/2015 20:55

Cross post, Wilbur. After having had two days of looking after our GC, I would recommend that you don't leave it until too late. I do love them to bits, but we're totally shattered when they go home - it would be easier if we were younger. Grin

CointreauVersial · 28/05/2015 20:58

Books - no, Hatty, I'm not writing one, have never done so, and won't be doing so anytime in the future. Smile

Grandchildren - noooo. Not yet, not yet, not yet..... Someone alluded to the possibility after I mentioned DS's current devotion to GF and I woke up that night in a cold sweat about it.

Hair - I've always been a fringe owner (common?! Confused How very dare you! ); my hair is currently the longest it has ever been in my life. And it's amazing how a bit of grey adds so much body and texture. Grin

Passive aggressive DCs - err, no. She favours a much more direct style. "Ooh no, I don't like that haircut/cardigan/whatever."

CointreauVersial · 28/05/2015 20:59

I meant DMs. Actually, same applies to DCs now I think about it...

CointreauVersial · 28/05/2015 21:01

Wilbur - now I think about it, your hair has been massively different every time I've met you!

Rudy - DD seems to find wonderful dresses in TK Maxx in Cambs.

bigTillyMint · 29/05/2015 07:54

NU, what was your book about? Teen angst?! Did it get published?

I amBlush looking forward to GC, preferably sooner rather than later as I would love to be involved with them like NU is. And having spent a few days with DM, am now worrying that I will go the same way...

Rudy, can you send any links to the dresses? Which shops did you find them in? She wants me to go looking today whilst she "revises"Confused I also may take her to the nearest TKMaxx, though it is always complete potluck with what is in there!

Auriga · 29/05/2015 07:57

Rudy your hair always looks great. I used to have a hairdresser who 'got' me. Have taken pics of myself at that time to subsequent hairdressers but they can't seem to replicate the cut. Still, the current one really isn't as bad as DM makes out. Grin

Sympathy to the struggling. Herbs, sorry to hear about your DMIL, miserable for you all.

And Stropps, hope your DD can get through to the end of term without giving you any more alarums. We're cheering you on towards the end of your course (and you Herbs).

Hi WAF. Would love to read the book but probably couldn't give timely feedback atm. And MI, well done for finishing Grin

Trying to lay off the kurdering & get on a better footing with DM. Life really not manageable otherwise.

motherinferior · 29/05/2015 08:37

BTM, is it worth zipping to the TKMaxx in Kensington? I went into the Cambridge one recently with my lovely cousin and was most impressed.

I am trying to track down people who may not know our mutual friend has died (he tore a strip off me once, rightly, for not letting him know about a former colleague of ours. L and I overlapped at a number of workplaces and publications).

In S&B news, my new boots have arrived and are fab. I can now ditch the ones I got in the Clarks kids' sale Blush

bigTillyMint · 29/05/2015 08:42

MI, I was thinking New X (can't face Croyden), but I guess the Kensington one might have different stockGrin

Auriga, Flowers and sympathy.

motherinferior · 29/05/2015 08:52

I too am looking forward to GC.

I have a lovely pic in my office of DP's mum holding DD1 for the first time. She'd given up on either him or his older brother producing any kids and was resigned to waiting till one of the younger brothers did; and at the same time was resolute that she would NOT be a doting grandmother, would preserve affectionate distance, etc etc. She took one look at DD1 and just plummeted from a great height. And next to that pic I have one of her two years later in an identical pose with DD2 Grin.

My parents have always adored three of their four GC and have now come round to my younger nephew, who is a total sweetie if occasionally hard work (he twists his mum round his little finger and tries to do the same with others - if you refuse to play, he cheerfully gives up and is lovely). They have decided he is Bright, which is what Matters. (Older nephew is Bright, apparently. So is DD2. DD1 also Bright but also Charming and Beautiful, apparently.)

Auriga · 29/05/2015 09:11

I am so ready for grandchildren. But feel I should at least let DD finish her GCSEs first Grin

Seriously, am thinking about volunteering for Sure Start or similar. I so miss having babies and toddlers in my life.

herbaceous · 29/05/2015 10:19

I'm looking forward to grandchildren. Preferably before I'm senile. But as DS is only five,a and I'm already losing it, time is running out.

My plan is that he gets his girlfriend pregnant at 16, she can't really cope with the baby and I have to look after it. A few years later he realises that he is in fact gay, and he'll stay at home with me for ever.

There are flaws in this plan I admit.

My mums always been adamant that she won't be one of those grandmas that spends all her time looking after the GC. And indeed she has stuck to this - in nearly six years, DS has been looked after by relatives precisely once. And it wasn't by mum!

bigTillyMint · 29/05/2015 10:34

Decided against Westfield (when DD looked aghast and said it would be rammed with teens) and am now on Peter Jones with me free tea and cakeSmile
Grey day is rather depressing.

MollyAir · 29/05/2015 10:55

Balham TK Maxx is good - smallish but a better shopping experience than most. I am delighted that wilbur has given me Balham parking tips. If anyone ever wants to do the charity shoppes in Balham, I'll be tour guide. Smile I am oddly keen on Balham.

herbaceous · 29/05/2015 10:58

Your DD is correct, BTM. Westfield in half term is even more full of slow-moving bovine hoards than usual.

In monthly migraine news, I could feel one coming on this morning, so necked a couple of pink migralieve. Seems to be taking the edge off.

A friend is gallantly taking DS to the cinema, McDonald's, and then then park (if it stops raining) so I can do the Dreaded A. I am taking people up on their offers, whether they meant them or not!

lalsy · 29/05/2015 11:01

BTM, when dd thought she might like a prom dress, we found Debenhams excellent - vast range. Which convinced her she hated prom dresses, so that was a bonus. Brixton has a TK Maxx too.

motherinferior · 29/05/2015 11:03

BTM, DD2 and I are heading up to Johnny Loulou's (I am under strict orders not to call it that) after lunch with DP.

Will not wear new cute suede boots in this weather, though!

MollyAir · 29/05/2015 11:05

Auriga, MI and I have a mutual friend with a baby/toddler who is adorable. I crave her company. It's a sad thing that old crones no longer have opportunities to dandle babies.

motherinferior · 29/05/2015 11:09

Balham does have fab charity shoppes, and I'm on for a tour!

Am presently sporting a Monsoon black corded-silk vest top (not knitted silk, nicely cut woven one which skims and highlights, shall we say) and burnt-orange Kew cotton cardie, both purchased in similar emporia. With the Toast jeans I got on sale for a tenner.

motherinferior · 29/05/2015 11:12

Oh yes, we dandle like mad. Friend never gets a look-in.

herbaceous · 29/05/2015 11:24

I get plenty of dandling opportunities, as lots of my baby friends have had a second, or even a third. I find some babies/toddlers very much more appealing than others, though. Some I want to grab to my bosom and run off with; others I just want to hose down from a distance.

Rosebag · 29/05/2015 11:35

I am in bravissimo in Brighton. DD has gone in for a fitting in her own. I hovering stupidly outside.

bigTillyMint · 29/05/2015 12:25

So glad I chose the King's Road. It is quiet and relaxing despite the rain.
