Unilateral decision... No space for consultation. Call me Dave...

He's fainted with the awesomeness of it, Rose. You are so right about silence.

Oh, BD, just misunderstood your post, I think - can you do a MU on Tuesday? Duh, silly me....

motherinferior · 22/05/2015 18:24

I had major Ishoos about the way I looked at that point (and for a quite a long time afterwards); scary to see how like DD1 I look in it now!

I am writing about breastfeeding. THen it's wine o'clock. And fishfingers, by popular request.

Rosebag · 22/05/2015 18:40

Glad you're just writing about it MI … Grin

Grin Grin Grin Molly but I am worried….perhaps I over- shared…

I wonder if Nuns would have something to teach us about being silent…

Right, I'm going to dish up. Not the usual Friday night roast on account of having made so many cakes. Schnitzels…a bit like fish fingers but turkey. Good Sabbath Crepeys..

ps Monty where are you…we want to hear about Spain !

CointreauVersial · 22/05/2015 19:01

If I don't put my Wine down and get off the sofa soon it'll be a liquid dinner. Blush

herbaceous · 22/05/2015 19:04

DP will be home from Dublin soon, where he's been for the past three nights. We shall be having takeaway Thai. And I'd imagine a cry.

motherinferior · 22/05/2015 19:07

It's wine o'clock. Hurrah!

Herbs, much strength to you. xxx

MollyAir · 22/05/2015 19:24

There's a book to be written about how it feels to see yourself reincarnated in your dd. It's particularly grim that loads of us hated our looks yet can see that our dds are stunning. At least it strengthens the resolve not to let them ever feel so awful themselves.

bigTillyMint · 22/05/2015 19:32

Just managed to combine a quick drink (not tea, Hatty) with picking up a Chinese for everyone.

Talking of DD's looking like us, DD wants to wear my wedding dress to her prom (not that it's been made official yetHmm), with a bit of remodellingGrin

MrsSchadenfreude · 22/05/2015 19:47

Can do Monday or Tuesday. Wednesday I am meeting up with someone from my writing group from Paris, who has landed in London and is making films. Shock A BIG change from her job in Paris, but what she had always wanted to do.

DD2 looks very like I did when I was younger, although when I was 14, I went through that unfortunate stage that lots of teens went through - spots, bad hair (not improved by my mother not allowing me to wash it when I had my period, so it often looked like you could fry chips in it), lumpen. Had my hair cut and layered (strongly against parental advice) and bleached a bit, and looked a lot better at 16.

Herbs, have a good time in Paris. Very sorry to hear about your MIL.

Blackduck · 22/05/2015 19:51

Tuesday please! Someone tell me where and time and I'll turn up - even one drink would be veeeeerrrrrrrry welcome with some crepey chums :)

motherinferior · 22/05/2015 19:56

I was shorter and fatter than DD1 - but not much. Grin

bigTillyMint · 22/05/2015 19:59

DS couldn't tell the difference between photos of DD and I as toddlers, even though mine were all b+wGrin I don't think we look so alike now, mainly as she is so petite and pretty, and I am notGrin Though she may well look like I do in the photos if she does wear my dress.

Blackduck · 22/05/2015 20:39

DSL and I are scarey similar (poor boy....)

MollyAir · 23/05/2015 00:54

BTM, since we ARE talking about Tuesday, in spite of me getting all muddled, can you come and drink with me, BD, and MrsS on Tuesday?

Would Caminos in Kings Cross be sensible? I'm open to other suggestions, although the Northern Line is best for me.

hattymattie · 23/05/2015 07:12

OK - I have to ask -Mrs S - why couldn't you wash your hair when having your period?

MI - had to wait till I was on the proper computer to see your photo - you look fab. I have to say though my DD's look nothing like me. They are rather gorgeous thankfully.

Off to find DB and DSiL (who has finally braved the channel tunnel). I gave them a rendezvous point at Clinique in Galeries Lafayette. Like that I can rummage if they are lateSmile. Sky looking a bit ominous this morning.

Blackduck · 23/05/2015 07:31

I remember that bizarre shouldn't wash your hair rule (can't remember why and my mother had no truck with it!)

Rosebag · 23/05/2015 09:26

My (Polish) paternal grandmother used to get really upset if she was over, and we girls were washing our hair. She always used to check with DM that it wasn't "the time of the month"….I think my DM was on the fence about it…she wasn't a great believer in a lot of hair washing anyway for some reason….

bigTillyMint · 23/05/2015 11:31

Was it because you washed it while you had a bath?

wilbur · 23/05/2015 12:04

I am going to theatre (Haymarket) on Tuesday night, but if there was any chance the meet up could be somewhere a little more central, I could do 6/6.30 for an hour or so. Don't worry if Kings Cross is better for everyone though.

Herbs so sorry about your MIL's news. Don't stress about whether you've got the empathy "right", I'm not sure there is a right way, it's just about being kind and finding a way through as a family. Hope Paris is wonderful!

wilbur · 23/05/2015 12:07

MI - I really like those boots, would love the white ones myself but on a no spend drive at the moment.

MollyAir · 23/05/2015 12:32

Wilbur, in that case I might go to the National Portrait Gallery in the afternoon and then we could meet for drinks near the Haymarket.

Would that be OK with others? Does anyone know a good place to drink centrally?

herbaceous · 23/05/2015 12:48

Nous sommes en train. MI will be amused to know there was a man ostentatiously doing t'ai chi on the Eurostar platform. People were looking from their trains thinking 'knob'.

MrsSchadenfreude · 23/05/2015 13:08

I can do early evening near the Haymarket. Or Caminos.

MollyAir · 23/05/2015 13:21

Herbs, I saw someone in our local park doing t'ai chi yesterday and I thought of MI. Tis rather ostentatious, innit?

Shall we aim at 6pm near the Haymarket on Tuesday, then?

MollyAir · 23/05/2015 13:30

This, for example?

www.squaremeal.co.uk/restaurant/brumus-bar-at-the-haymarket-hotel

I can PM with final details of exact venue, if preferred, but does that look the sort of thing...?
