I bought a grey coat last year so I could add different colour scarves and hats!

I can't recommend any nude lipsticks, as my most daytime lip is something like L'Oréal cassis passion or Clinique chubby stick grandest grape. Mac plumful was very much a My lips but better shade on me, so that might work for you. I found it too subtle and dd1 appropriated it. I fully admit to having a lipstick problem, which was completely started by this group just after I was draped!

building2017 · 15/10/2017 22:38

Ooh, might there be a jewel winter FB group?

mimiasovitch · 16/10/2017 10:00

Possibly. There is one called 'all
Things winter' but it's not that active. Also it'll probably be based on the American Sci Art system which is a little different, so you can look for either True Winter or Bright Winter - I'm not sure which is the best match.

EraArils · 16/10/2017 11:27

Can I ask a question about the various types of Winters.

I've done all the quizzes and tests and the conclusion is that I am a cool winter but what is the difference? What makes a Winter True, Bright, clear or cool? For the record I'm totally grey everywhere.....grey eyes and grey/white hair. My hair was a dark ashy brown, about 30 years ago.

mimiasovitch · 16/10/2017 13:18

This article from Kettlewell seems to explain things quite well. It certainly explains why I get so confused when the dark winter ladies on Facebook are extolling the virtues of yellows and corals that I would never consider.

EraArils · 16/10/2017 15:56

Thank you, will have a read.

I don't think there's much difference between the colours you can wear as a Winter. If I were a true winter when I had pigment in my hair then do I remain the same now? I was high contrast with really dark hair and now my hair is white/grey, is this now low contrast?

mimiasovitch · 16/10/2017 17:16

No idea, but white and grey hair look fabulous with red lipstick, so I assume you can add contrast

EraArils · 16/10/2017 19:06

And that is exactly what I do. I'm a fan of Mac Ruby Woo and Mac Red. At least I have that right.

mimiasovitch · 16/10/2017 19:25

Red lips are always right Wink. My dd tells me off when I've not got any on. Apparently I don't look like me.

MartinRohdesBellybuttonFluff · 17/10/2017 13:10

Ruby Woo arrived this morning. It's quite the statement colour! Good for a winter.

I couldn't resist putting some on but I look like death warmed up (not well, no other make-up on and dressed in a pale pink jumper as well). Will definitely save it for when my make-up looks flawless and I'm wearing a much stronger colour. My 3yo keeps staring at my mouth and trying to touch it Grin

SorrelForbes · 17/10/2017 13:20

I'm a Jewel Winter and my favourite reds are Estee Lauder Envy in Red Ego and Chanel Passion.

FuckYouDailyMail · 17/10/2017 15:18

Ladies can I join you? I'm a dark summer rather than winter but you seem such a friendly lot and my colours overlap a fair bit with winter?

ForSaleChesterDraws · 18/10/2017 20:30

I love my Estée Lauder Red Ego. I loved Chanel dragon rouge laque until they discontinued it.

mowglik · 18/10/2017 20:37

fuckyou join us! I’ve just joined this group as well, recently diagnosed as a winter and currently sorting through my old autumn toned clothes.

sorrel thanks for the lipstick recommendations I’m still looking for my perfect red so will check these out Smile

SarahWithAFringeOnTop · 07/03/2018 18:41

It's been very quiet here lately... does anyone have any new finds to share? I have accidentally bought this jacket (in the blue, obviously). I have been trying to avoid ti for ages but finally cracked with a Sparks offer Blush

ForSaleChesterDraws · 05/06/2018 07:04

Hello! I’m resurrecting this old thread to see what you guys have boug recently. I keep stalking the “how to look expensive in summer” thread and they keep talking about tan 😲 accessories!

user1955 · 05/06/2018 21:53

I'm desperately looking for a bright white blouse as my favourite Mistral one gave up last year. It was soft, textured woven cotton, with pin tucks above bust so it didn't fit too tightly below bust (more flattering as rib cage is where I'm carrying my flab!) and buttons all the way down. Mistral's current stock don't fit the bill.

I've probably explained that very poorly, but if anyone has any suggestions I'd be grateful.

Tatapie · 05/06/2018 21:54

Lol! Yes gutted at the tan accessories ban for winters! I too have been on that thread and bought flat black sandals from Next.
Also have ordered these oasis vests from a John Lewis which come in 6 winter colours! Though I've only ordered black and white as I'm trying to be stylish and monochrome ( will probably fail!) I do love the sleeveless scoop neck kettlewell vests and have just bought erm white! Splash of colour from next straight crop jeans in red ( not the greatest red but ok) and they do come in bright pink too!

Redact · 05/06/2018 23:28

I've not bought much recently. I'm a jewel winter but got ** for ice blue, can't remember the proper name. Managed to pick up a few bits in this colour from White Company. It makes a nice change from the brighter jewel colours which although I can see suit me, I find hard to wear all the time and revert to black and navy. The ice blue colours contrast really nicely with black jeans/trousers. I get lots of comments saying the colour suits me and I feel like me in it iykwim. I also got my style personality done last year and tbh struggle with it. I'm a natural classic with ingenue thrown in for good measure. I can see I am a bit of all 3 so do agree but i think I had hoped it would be more defined. I really need to get some bits and pieces for summer though. What has everyone else been buying?

ForSaleChesterDraws · 06/06/2018 06:28

I bought the Boden Rachel chino shorts in navy. I’m really struggling with a top for them. I want a linen or silk long sleeve shirt to wear with them and there’s nothing in winter colours, or if there is it’s got really sharp angular collar. I also bought the Santorini swimsuit in this size.

Overall I’m really struggling to find tops in winter colours that are made of non-sweaty materiel that aren’t boxy cuts.

I’m still wearing my navy saltwater sandals. They are on their fifth summer and still look perfect.

HoCWinters.....the cool and clear chat goes on. Part 6.
Redact · 06/06/2018 21:13

I really like that swimsuit. I've got a couple from Boden but they are about 4 yo but still look good. I get what you say about trying to find tops in our colours that are non boxy and in natural fibres. Not an easy task! I bought a summer top from Zara which is my favourite so far. Sorry can't do links but it's white cotton with navy appliquéd flowers around the neck. A silk shirt is also on my list. I've been on the lookout for an ice blue one for a couple of years. I also need a pair of sandals. Im contemplating a pair of castaners but can't decide between black and navy.

mimiasovitch · 07/06/2018 15:36

This is the year that I am most definitely absolutely no doubt whatsoever NOT going to buy any more sandals. Probably.

I haven't bought much lately, though I did make a black and white spotty kimono style dress which is all floaty and has been perfect in the warm weather.

I am needing slightly more stylish dog walking clothes. In the winter I'm so bundled up that it doesn't really matter, but whilst the fair weather dog walkers and other woodland wanderers are about, I'd like to look a bit less like a bag lady. I'm after drapey t shirts and sweatshirts. If anyone has seen anything suitable, in lovely brights, that would be wonderful Smile

mimiasovitch · 07/06/2018 15:37

Those castanets are lovely, though I'd probably go for red.

ForSaleChesterDraws · 07/06/2018 17:55

I bought a totally non-winter top in primark today and felt so rebellious. It was a £10 shirt with white and pale blue stripes and little cactuses all over it. At least it’s cool toned!

Redact · 07/06/2018 20:18

Ha ha chester I've done that before buying something and thinking at least it's cool toned! I like the sound of your shirt, will keep an eye out for it next time I'm in primary.

mimia red castaners would be a good shade, I could wear them with any color. Also impressed that you made a kimono style dress. My sewing skills are worse than poor. My grandma was so good with her hands, sewed, knitted and crocheted. Unfortunately it has missed the next 3 generations!
