Ooh... I have a Next jacket in a sort of mixed red/coral slub kind of fabric. I've had no luck selling it on eBay and am half considering the same trick. The only problem is it says it's not washable... what would actually happen if I washed a non-washable jacket? I sort of fell I have nothing to lose if I can't manage to sell it either... advice anyone please?

Mimi, I do think Dylon need a proper vivid royal blue... or cobalt. How well does viscose take dye btw? I tried wool once and it really didn't take up much at all.

jewelwinter · 20/05/2017 18:38

I have a couple of light beige/cream blouses. Rather than donate them, i think I'll attack them with a dye and see what happens too. Thanks for the reminder Mimia

queencerulean · 20/05/2017 20:44

I've had mixed responses with dying. I haven't done it for a while so can't remember exactly what colours i used. What I do remember though is that if it's a high frequent worn/washed item, the dye wears off pretty quickly. The navy is good though for giving a new lease of life to stuff.

Fender1 · 20/05/2017 21:20

Hi winters, now everyone is (sort of) coming out of hibernation, has anyone bought anything nice for summer?
I've ordered the cotton jersey in iris from kettlewell but what I really need to find is a proper winter red cardigan and some everyday summer dresses....

mimiasovitch · 20/05/2017 22:38

Viscose loves dye. It's as good as cotton for picking it up. I thought wool was meant to be good though too. I'd probably try the hand wash type with wool though. I've heard good things about Rit dyes, an American brand that's available on amazon. I might try those for a better winter blue. I'm not loving anything in stores right now, so I'm all about making and making do.

SarahWithAFringeOnTop · 19/08/2017 18:08

OK, so has anyone tried the new Dylon "pods"? I'm a bit confused about the navy blue, it doesn't look the same colour as the old boxes at all, which were a true winter navy. The new one looks as though it's much more of an autumn greeny-blue. Help??!

ForSaleChesterDraws · 22/08/2017 06:47

Hello winters! How are you all getting on?

What inspirational buys do you have to share?

SarahWithAFringeOnTop · 26/08/2017 15:13

I don't seem to have bought much lately I'm afraid! Waiting for the new stuff to come into the shops/online... I think I might have felt more inspired if we'd actually had something you could call a summer Sad

Eyeing up the Kettlewell merino tunic that's just come in though. Can't quite work out if it's "me" or not... and it is quite expensive.

SarahWithAFringeOnTop · 09/09/2017 10:24

I have accidentally bought this pair of red boots though! I wasn't going to buy boots this autumn... but they sort of threw themselves into my basket Blush

mowglik · 13/10/2017 12:28

Hi all! New winter here - had a hoc session where it turned out I am a jewel winter. Have spent all my adult life buying autumn hued clothing (and also had a session at CMB where they said I was deep and warm - autumn Angry) so I’m looking to get more winter pieces in my wardrobe.

Has anyone got any advice/links on winter makeup? I’ve used coral based/warm makeup and am still unsure about cool lipsticks but want to give them a go.

mowglik · 13/10/2017 12:37

Oo and for introduction purposes I’m a romantic natural, jewel winter

Just reading back for some lipstick recs, quite a few, I am making a list!

I have to say I never felt quite right in autumn clothes, always felt a bit murky and dull., I’ve been wearing my colours for the last couple of days and I feel like I look more vibrant and not so drab. Grin

MartinRohdesBellybuttonFluff · 13/10/2017 19:51

Just wondering do any of you fellow Winters wear Mac Ruby Woo? I am tempted as it's supposed to be a blue based red but I haven't tried it in real life. I was going to chance ordering it online but would appreciate any opinions first please!

Paintbox · 13/10/2017 19:54

Yes i wear ruby woo, it's a great red for winters. The formula is very dry though and a lot of people don't like it for that reason

MartinRohdesBellybuttonFluff · 13/10/2017 20:06

Thanks so much Paintbox! I've been dying to give it a try although I know it's not for the fainthearted! My most other daring lipstick to date has been Cassis Passion (L'Oréal).

I love Mac though, and through MN recommendations on threads like this Capricious and Plumful have been my other really good finds.

I've a bit of a thing for lipstick Smile

Happy50 · 13/10/2017 20:18

Help - natural ingenue winter jewel - can't seem to find anything this winter. I have the basics but need a few brights - cardigans, jumpers, blouses, handbags to pull it all together. Jewellery would really help too. To make matters more complicated - wool itches and Im trying to avoid leather.

mowglik · 14/10/2017 11:55

happy I’ve been looking at Kettlewell as they seem to have all the styles in all the colours. Expensive though, I’m wondering what the quality is like?

Tkmaxx seem to have lots of handbags, sorted into different colours which might be handy?

I might try ruby woo too, Mac ladybug was my red lipstick of choice but never wore it much as I felt it never looked right.

SarahWithAFringeOnTop · 14/10/2017 16:03

I like Kettlewell too - they're not cheap but you know the colour is going to be right, and the quality is good and they last. I am feeling though that most of my wardrobe seems to be Kettlewell and I need something else!

SarahWithAFringeOnTop · 14/10/2017 16:04

Very tempted by this coat though which is said to be a good wnter red...

EraArils · 14/10/2017 16:23

Mac Red (Vivid bright bluish-red) is also a good colour for us Winters. It's a satin and not as drying as Ruby Woo.

NotMeNoNo · 14/10/2017 21:24

I was just reading this then felt bored with MN and flipped to Facebook. Literally the first picture was these boots! I had just been thinking, whatever does natural ingenue jewel winter wear? I guess they are a bit heavy but I bet the current embroidery trend would be good for you?

Happy50 · 14/10/2017 22:09

Thank you
Will look at Kettlewell
I can't get the boots link to work
Bright Jewel winter and natural injenue don't seem to naturally go together in the shops
Although natural injenue clothes are exactly what a love
I think that's why I use to go to summer colours

NotMeNoNo · 15/10/2017 14:20

These! Sorry must be a closed group.

NotMeNoNo · 15/10/2017 14:26

Joe browns?

mimiasovitch · 15/10/2017 20:41

Hello winters. Some lipsticks I have bought and loved most recently are all Nars audacious (such a lovely formulation), Charlotte - a deep burgundy, Fanny -a bluish pink, and Vera - a bit deeper than Fanny, easier for me to wear this time of year. Fanny was better in the summer. Really though, I didn't need both. Oops. Also Urban decay in Gash - a lovely red.

From the deep winter Facebook group I discovered Breath of Plum blush from Mac. First time ever I've adored a blusher.

Clothing wise I've not found anything exciting. I did pick up a nice longline chunky cardigan in charcoal from Tesco of all places though.

mowglik · 15/10/2017 22:19

Hi mimia thanks for the lipsticks recs, I’ve been obsessively googling to find a few to try. I was briefly in boots today and had a look at bourjois rouge velvet in grand cru. I’m not used to looking at cool colours but it looked like a gorgeous red.

Will have a look at the colours above thanks. Does anyone have any nude lipsticks that work? I usually use Mac cherish which I think I’m still ok with but just out of interest..

In other happenings I’ve bought a few silky pashminas in emerald green and silver and plum and they look amazing. Will wear them with my black and charcoal grey winter coats this year
