My dad made me a rocking horse for my second birthday - a proper one with real horse hair, a saddle and a bridle etc. It is an absolute work of art and my kids play on it now. A very treasured family heirloom.

AmberNectarine · 30/04/2015 14:42

And it will come as no surprise to anyone that I am wearing an ensemble by Sweaty Betty, accessorised with nike runners and a polar sports watch. Just ran over to my parents' house (nice hilly 5 miles in the bag) for a chinwag and now off to pick up the sprogs. When I get home I will hit the shower and change into my baukjen jersey jumpsuit. I'm going out this weekend so I promise I'll put on proper clothes and have something worth reporting on!

LinusDKD · 30/04/2015 15:29

Maybe you're right blair and I am a Classic Classic, CC for short. Grin

I think maybe dry also has a bit of dramatic in her as she loves pointy shoes and statement hight heels?

I think that BR jacket is maybe a bit too 'old' for you? I think you need something a bit more relaxed.

queenc I bought one of our favourite wines for DH and me tonight. No second bottle though but we do have plenty in the cellar Wink

QueenCardigan · 30/04/2015 15:55

amber I'm impressed-you must run pretty much every day?
Enjoy linus

AmberNectarine · 30/04/2015 16:41

queenC I run 3/4 times a week and do spin classes and resistance training in between. I try to have one rest day but it doesn't always happen! So bored of wearing Lycra though!

cartoontrickster · 30/04/2015 17:00

wow Amber that's hard-core!
shop I know what you mean. I often see woman wearing the simplest of outfits and look fabulous. but on me it just looks plain and like I've made no effort.
I like statement pieces with simple things be that shoes , a jacket, jewellery or even trousers.
so today I am wearing cropped Chino type trousers and a t-shirt but the trousers are bright pink Grin

OneLittleLady · 30/04/2015 17:45

shop I totally get what you mean about feeling 'dull' I need my prints, my cartoon tees, bright colours and general quirkiness to feel like 'me' I feel dull as anything without some combination of those plus other things

I am exhausted, just wiped out but another day in college tomorrow for a training course. trying to do as much extra curricular as I can as I know how good that will look in the long term

LinusDKD · 30/04/2015 18:48

You sound knackered one!

I forgot to mention I ordered those M&S jeggings Mumsnet mentioned in their 'favourites' e-mail.

I'm looking to replace a lot of my Leigh skinnies as they are too big now and have been washed sooo much they are starting to look tired.

I haven't found the perfect premium skinnies yet (the Hoxtons are nice though) so I thought I'd give these a go in indigo. At £22.50 it's worth a try.

Tempted to go into town tomorrow and go shopping. I have a need/want list but so far have been unsuccessful in finding what I need/want.

libertychick · 30/04/2015 18:58

I think you might need higher contrast for the dramatic bit shop and that scarf is a bit muted. It's also got more of a natural vibe to it I think. You probably need a pattern like zebra print.

I have a seed stitch knit beige biker style cardi from Jigsaw which I love but with certain combinations of clothes it can look really dull and frumpy.

Blair 7 hour trip sounds like a nightmare. Hope you get some rest tonight. Will text you now.

one take it easy....

muddling sorry for thinking you were Mara! Early morning before coffee foggy brain to blame!

Drywhiteplease · 30/04/2015 19:02

Oooo linus I'm dramatic too ? Grin it gets better! Classic dramatic gamine Grin

Amber 4 years ago I'd not have been seen dead in Lycra, but once you get it on its sooooooo comfy, I love my gym kit like a neon sports bra showing through ESPWink

Bernice interesting, how does my style differ from linus? Love this thread.

Drywhiteplease · 30/04/2015 19:08

Queen C I blame you but I've been dreaming about this dress , with the Rossis. Can I up my bf antsy budget to £3k please?
I actually think I NEED a red dress.

muddlingalongquitenicely · 30/04/2015 19:09

We are home, shattered and now the owner of a Mulberry somerset shoulder pebble in chocolate. So much for a grey bag lol
Room was gorgeous but warm no heating was on. Still woke up at 6.30 where DH went down to the car and fetched my card and a load of balloons an dumped them on me in bed.

OneLittleLady · 30/04/2015 19:34

dry I agree, you do need a red dress, something with some slinkiness about it. yes, definitely

I have started my introduction for my lit review. Aiming for 10% of the overall word count for the intro and I've got about half currently which is bad going for ten minutes work

Wardrobe clear out will commence again at the weekend when I take a break from studying, I just have so so much stuff. I don't have any repeats, as in identical stryles in different colours, barring the three different coloured cardigans I bought from Uniqlo recently but tbf, they were an essential purchase that will be very well used in all three colours

QueenCardigan · 30/04/2015 20:20

dry didn't you wear that dress to blairs wedding? I'm sure I've linked it somewhere before. But yes, you should totally get a red dress.
amber you must be lookng hot at the moment with all that exercise.
muddling yay for the mulberry.

Question for tonight...if you were to wear a pair of blue jeans and a navy/white Breton how would you style it? I'd wear ballet flats (navy or grey), a delicate necklace (either small diamond pendant or my Tiffany initial) and my usual silver watch and bracelets and earrings. Either a bright cardi (emerald or colbalt) or a bright bag (fuschia) and pink lippy. Will be intetesting to see how we will all do it differently....

muddlingalongquitenicely · 30/04/2015 20:33

like this

muddlingalongquitenicely · 30/04/2015 20:35

Stupid phone lost half my post! The link is in answer to Queens question.

LinusDKD · 30/04/2015 20:38

Great dress dry!

I know Zaritas aren't cheap but a lot cheaper than Valentino. Do they have them in red?

queenc I wear that kind of outfit a lot (I am a walking S&B pet hates advertisment) and I wear it with my red patent leather quilted ballet flats, my usual jewelry and a kick-ass handbag in a bright colour.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 30/04/2015 20:46

Lib I've bombarded you with stuff, probably mostly rubbish :)

Dry that dress is to die for and would look amazing on you I pinned a similar turquoise one to my dream dresses board.

Aww muddling, what a lovely day you've had!

I am loving the style discussion too. Linus interesting about the BR jacket, I really want to buy some jackets as I don't own any that I love, but other than blazers I don't know what style to get. The only "romantic" jacket I can think of would be a waterfall style one, not for me I don't think.

QueenC good question, I wear that outfit far too much. All my bretons (3) are fitted ones. Wear with skinnies, pistols and a trench, very boring. I wore one once with boyfriend jeans, a navy blazer and brogues, which felt really good but probably isn't me?

libertychick · 30/04/2015 20:55

Good question QueenC. First I would replace the navy and white Breton with a moss green and beige one. Then add Elia B leopard print loafers, beige trench coat, orange statement necklace and small tan radley cross body bag.

libertychick · 30/04/2015 20:57

Thanks Blair Smile

QueenCardigan · 30/04/2015 21:00

Ha ha lib I realised once I'd posted that navy/white wasn't for everyone!

cartoontrickster · 30/04/2015 21:21

Linus I have several loads of m&s jeggings in various colours and for the most part find them a good fit but I have a couple of pairs that aren't as skinny on the ankle and actually quite baggy so they almost look a straight Jean on me which I think makes me look frumpy. I do not have slim ankles by the way!
queen can I wear white jeans? possibly with ripped knees. or change the navy stripe to black and wear my black dungarees. definately a sparkly necklace. probably trainers if dungarees or nude pumps with white jeans. I'd be rush at choosing a jacket to go with it so hopefully it's warm enough to go without.

QueenCardigan · 30/04/2015 21:34

How about something like this blair

blondambition · 30/04/2015 21:56
