Is the universe trying to tell me something? Grin

Hope you feel better soon novice

dry marsha the box is right in front of me but I just got it out of the fridge so have to wait 15 mins before digging in. Wink

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 01/05/2015 19:45

novice hope you feel better soon, it's rubbish being ill when we're getting towards summer.
I was wondering if I could pick your brains about workwear, as I want to start dressing more smartly and you are always so well put together! I love pencil dresses, is there anywhere in particular you'd recommend getting them from? Starting to plan for sales, so I guess up to £300 ish full price. TIA :) Flowers

Linus Indian for lunch and macaroons for dinner sounds perfect for a Friday! I haven't bought anything for a while either all of 3 weeks maybe.

shopafrolic · 01/05/2015 20:07

Shop determined to make next MU but need big buy in because I book ticket 3monthsn advance.

I've just done something I've NEVER done before......opened a bottle of wine, looked a bit dodgy (found in utility room ) took swig, poured down sink..........yuck! Off to the garage for the good stuff Grin

Stokey · 01/05/2015 20:56

Evening all - we're still undecided whether to go to Paris or not at half term and/or Disney. I've spent 2 days putting spreadsheets together with dates, prices, travel, only to realise that we have to be at home on the 30th as it's the FA Cup final and DH's team are playing... grrrrr football. I'm now trying to book the start of the week but everything is pricier as it's the bank holiday. Anyway sorry - football frustrtaion venting.

Bernice which Gap jeans do you like? I just got 2 pairs in the sale - these
girlfriend ones which I want to love but are a bit baggy round the waist, and these grey straight ones which are a better fit but a bit long. I'm tempted to keep them as they are total bargains - I got another 20% of the sale price - but will I wear them?

LinusDKD · 01/05/2015 21:30

stokey Thank God DH (and my DF for that matter) isn't into sports. I would not appreciate having to cut a holiday short for a football match.

shop I gave up online shopping and just watched a film with DH. He only got two macarons so that left me with 6. Grin

I think I might have to suck it up and go back for the Stella McCartney blazer I saw in the shops but is more than £60 more expensive than online.

dry have fun tonight!

BrandyAlexander · 02/05/2015 07:58

Morning all!

Poor you Stokey that's how we ended up not going on holiday at Easter, too many things going on!

Blair, brands I like at the £300/£400 range are Armani Collezioni, MaxMara, DvF and Hugo Boss. Well made, great fit, make you look feminine, chic and appropriately conservative. I always tend to buy these in the sales.

Looking at Armani....I think this dress is great because it also has colour but if you're not sure if that colour would work for you, then you could look at in Navy instead? I also like this Armani navy ruched dress.

In MaxMara, I like this dress as its vibrant for summer.

Less vibrant but I am sure really well cut, would be this Hugo Boss dress.

Or a bit of DvF as you look amazing in her Zarita dress. This dress comes in red or grey as well. It also comes in capped sleeves or sleeveless. That last dress is very similar to this cheaper Karen Millen one. I don't normally look at Karen Millen but bought a couple of really nice knitted dresses from there a couple of months ago so paying more attention to them.

One of my favourite brands over last couple of years has been Michael Kors though don't think I have bought work dresses. I like Ted Baker for their embellished tops but this dress reminded me of my Roland Mouret dress minus the price tag.

Almost there...! I haven't shopped there recently but have 3 dresses from Hobbs that I have had for years and have stood the test of time. From their current collection, I love PINK BLACK-8&refpage=dresses/pencil-dresses this one as it's different and chic and MULTI-10&refpage=dresses/pencil-dresses this one. Another old favourite is Austin Reed where they normally have one nice dress amongst some really grim ones! And they're always on sale. I have this Austin Reed dress for example.

Finally, Amber introduced me to Me & Em and I have 3 dresses that have seen me through the last 2 winters. I love this Me & Em summer dress.

I think I have exhausted all my brands Grin. Hope one of these inspires you! I think the key thing that pulls my outfits together is accessorising them properly with the right jacket, shoes, bag and jewelry so don't forget to think about those!

Ps QueenC how do you this every weekend?! Grin

QueenCardigan · 02/05/2015 08:27

Morning ladies. Fascinating seeing how different we'd all look in a Breton/jeans outfit.

bernice I still love gap jeans but it's just the rest of the store I can't be bothered with.
stokey did you get your usual size in the girlfriends as I was tempted to try them

LinusDKD · 02/05/2015 09:00

Morning!

marsha I have asked this question before but what is the sizing like on those Lanvin flats?

I have tried some on in the shops but I keep forgetting my size! They come up quite small, no?

MarshaBrady · 02/05/2015 09:09

Morning
Linus yes small. My first pair were 40.5 (I'm usually a 40) and the second I went up to a 41 but they were a bit roomy.

Ok Breton question, just going to scroll and find it.

MarshaBrady · 02/05/2015 09:13

I'd wear bleached out pald skinnies and light blue and white light knit version of top loosely tucked in, pale yellow ballet flats and light leather slouchy bag. If I had all that.

Great question QueenC

shopafrolic · 02/05/2015 09:18

Morning all. First cup of coffee with my nespresso (not that hot temp wise is it?) and a bacon sandwich! Life is good :)
Waves to Marsha how's it going? The other question you might have missed is how is your work wardrobe going?

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 02/05/2015 09:47

Sounds good Shop! Wonder if it's meant to be hotter.

It hasn't progressed yet! Do you think it is too close to the sales to buy fp? I have a voucher for Liberty but would be great to wait for a discount. Think it isn't until June 1 which is ages away.

I have to go in to rebuy make up stuff which has run out, such a fact. I might have a look then.

MyVegasBaby · 02/05/2015 09:50

Hi all, this thread always comes up when I'm searching for things so thought I might join in!
40 something mum, working full time so shopping is either online or a mercy dash during a lunch break!
I have too many clothes so last year started thinking about what I buy and what it goes with, which seems to be working.
Need a couple of things to complete my current non work wardrobe and starting to think about things for our summer holiday. Have some cobalt gigis from the year before last which I love so fancy either a black patent or maybe silver pair, not seen any yet. Also some shorts to go with simple tops and maybe a couple of cotton or linen dresses.
Life is chaotic with work, family and building work ongoing at our house so a bit of me time to escape the chaos and shop or talk shopping seems good!

OneLittleLady · 02/05/2015 10:00

welcome to myvegas

morning all,

so so much work to get done this weekend but so many external demands on my time! I don't know how i'm going to fit everything in without disappointing some people. has to be done though, i can't afford to get behind

my new dress was delivered this morning, it's a tea dress style in pale blue with darker blue swans printed on it and a red bow on one side of the waist. i love it

Drywhiteplease · 02/05/2015 10:29

MyVegasBaby · 02/05/2015 12:05

Mazj4cks I like the top shop ones and the Vans but that's mainly as I prefer solid and bright colours to neutrals. Saw these last night which are very bright but I've mobile.jigsaw-online.com/products/lottie-espadrille--10267 they do them in navy too.

mazj4cks · 02/05/2015 12:19

See I like the topshop ones too but DH said they look like hooves! Grin that's his way of saying he isn't keen! I like those jigsaw ones too tho Smile

shopafrolic · 02/05/2015 12:58

I like both Park Lane pairs and the Vans.....
Have you looked at Soludos espadrilles? ££ full price but can usually find them reduced somewhere.....

QueenCardigan · 02/05/2015 17:05

I'm not a huge fan of espadrilles personally but I'd go for the 1st asos ones or jigsaw.

mazj4cks · 02/05/2015 17:22

Thankyou and thanks shop, I did look at some of those too but thanks for the link to that shop..at those prices I might get the vans and some espadrilles Grin
