S&B loathes

Inspired by the Lipstick Queen are crap thread, I've got things I need to get off my chest (so to speak).

Nude lipstick, can't bear it. Hate, hate the 'foundation coloured lips' look.

There are others but that is my most loathed thing at the moment.

Do other people have things that the whole world seems to love but them?

That ombré hair fashion. Tell me how that looks good. Oh so you're growing out your highlights???
Long nails. Any type any colour any art. I hate long nails.

lurkingaround · 27/04/2015 18:09

Long nails. Any shape any colour any art. I hate them.

Ombré hair. Growing out your highlights are you???

pictish · 27/04/2015 18:11

So do I. Ick.

lurkingaround · 27/04/2015 18:19

Phone acting up. Oops double post. Thought posts were lost in the ether. Lo! they reappear. TwiceBlush

noddyholder · 27/04/2015 18:24

Nude court shoes
Over styled/blow dried hair or make up
Wrap dresses
Long nails
Big 'groovy' statement jewellery
Am starting to hate scarves too
Pastel blazers on anyone under 80

MrsUltracrepidarian · 27/04/2015 18:29

All of these!
And the fake (tattooed?) eyebrows like all Year 11 girls have these days - like on a Barbie doll. Real eyebrows, properly shaped - why not?
Waterfall cardigans.
Those horrible waterfall dresses that are suddenly all about - layery things?

noddyholder · 27/04/2015 18:32

oh yes waterfall anything

SpecificOcean · 27/04/2015 18:41

Fake nails
Expensive creams
Ballet shoes
Enormous handbags
Stripy tops

rookiemere · 27/04/2015 18:47

Brogues on women-hate them with a passion for some reason.
Lots of the above apart from stripey tops and ballet shoes, my go to outfit with jeans.

GingerbreadBaubles · 27/04/2015 19:07

Birkenstocks the original ones
Reefer sandal and leather sandal wotsits Jesus creepers
The arrival of spring heralded by unkempt trotters, dry cracked heels and ragged toes. Yuk
Sleeveless t shirts on men, no excuse..ever.

SnotQueen · 27/04/2015 19:23

Vests on men. Just no.
Anna Wintour style bob/helmet of hair
And most of the previously mentioned loathes.

polyhymnia · 27/04/2015 19:31

Yes know what you mean about forums Frugal - though try to avoid using it in everyday conversation for fear of sounding pedantic! ( am wondering if you are a professional Latinist).

I like White jeans. And most animal prints - agree they are in effect neutrals now. Don't personally like Cath Kidston, Orla Kiely or Pandora ( or cheap Pandora-alikes eg in M and S).

pictish · 27/04/2015 19:31

On men - polo shirts tucked into jeans with a belt.
Formal shoes with jeans.

Charityworker34 · 27/04/2015 19:34

Strongly agree with magic-marker type eyebrows, also orange foundation tide marks, tanning everywhere EXCEPT HANDS AND FEET, back cleavage where tops/bras don't fit, and yes- the evil wedge trainer!

Charityworker34 · 27/04/2015 19:35

I don't really get nude lips, but then I've never found a nude lipstick that doesn't make me look like a cadaver

Runningupthathill82 · 27/04/2015 19:42

Pandora bracelets.
Waterfall cardigans.
Tunic-style tops.
Ballet pumps (esp glittery ones, and really cheap ones that make the wearer's feet slump in the middle and overpronate).
Fat Face/White Stuff/Boden frumpy prints

GoStraightGoStraight · 27/04/2015 19:49

I like red fingernails too, but they must be deep red, not a tacky scarlet and they mustn't be too long.

I hate those skater dresses. They are so little girly, and they always look to small on everyone. the waistine is always too high and the skirt too short. There is something about the proportions of them that really bothers me.

Witchy talon fingernails. Just uuugghh.

Pippin8 · 27/04/2015 19:56

I hate it when people leave the sticky labels on under shoes. Just get some acetone & peel it off for gods sake!

Also see through leggings & baggy tops with a split all the way down the back. Why, just why?

GoStraightGoStraight · 27/04/2015 20:04

Double denim.

GoStraightGoStraight · 27/04/2015 20:05

Those boots with a cut-out sandal toe. They are the fuggliest most pointless invention ever.

Cacofonix · 27/04/2015 20:11

Nude lips look shit on everyone ; drawn on eyebrows; any long claw nails and nail art; thin leggings as trousers; bras that don't fit and scoop gallons of breast flesh in all the wrong places; any type of ballet pump worn with normal socks (why oh god would you?); peeptoe boots; waterfall anything; short sleeved jackets; thumb rings; hair extensions; any sports wear when not actually doing sport; jackets e.g. northface worn with long handled handbag across body; any Louis Vuitton; animal print anything and faux fur coats; blue nail varnish; fake tan; thick foundation (so bloody ageing).

Judydreamsofhorses · 27/04/2015 20:15

My list of crimes on this thread is high - my wardrobe has loads of animal print and stripy tops, I live in brogues, often with coloured tights, and I love mom jeans. I'm also a big fan of "statement jewellery" although I would never use that phrase. Horses for courses and all that!

Stuff I do not like:

Long nails, particularly long and pointy
Leggings as trousers
Flip-flops unless on the beach/pool/on holiday in the sun
Tops with split backs, or any cut out at the back. What is the point?
Embellishment
Dipped hems, on dresses or tops - annoying when you pick up something nice, then spot the dreaded mullet hem
Denim mini and leggings, although I don't mind dress and leggings

That aside, I think everyone should wear whatever the hell they like and screw the haters. These are just things I'm personally not keen on.

Somebodystolemyname · 27/04/2015 20:17

I need a picture of hoof shoes, I'm intrigued! Ugg boots, ripped skinny jeans, block heels (my number one hate at the moment sorry) and those patterned pyjama style trousers that everyone is wearing when the sun is out. Totally agree also with peplum and obvious designer labels.

Mintyy · 27/04/2015 20:20

Opaque tights on a hot day.

Too much makeup of any variety.

False eyelashes except on extremely dressed up nights out.

Fake tan.

Heels if wearer cannot walk in them.

Skinny jeans on anyone over size 8 (sorry).

KnitFastDieWarm · 27/04/2015 20:21

The mid-late 90s revival that we are currently enjoying - all of it. It was bad enough the first time round!

I'm all for a good retro look but there is NOTHING I want to revisit about cropped skinny rib mock polo tshirts and clunky platform shoes!
