Inspired by the Lipstick Queen are crap thread, I've got things I need to get off my chest (so to speak).

Nude lipstick, can't bear it. Hate, hate the 'foundation coloured lips' look.

There are others but that is my most loathed thing at the moment.

Do other people have things that the whole world seems to love but them?

Spending huge amounts of money on cotton tees and flat sandals in summer - I don't get it.

AmelieinOz · 27/04/2015 14:26

I maybe a weirdo but I really don't like black with gold hardware. Especially in clothing. Accessories too but to a lesser degree. Gold hardware ruins black clothing for me. Oh and chains. Especially gold chains in bags.

Fringe on clothes and accessories. On people (like bangs), fabulous.

Anything screaming with logos. Like Louis Vuitton is barfing on you.

letitlinger · 27/04/2015 14:27

Skater dresses
Ripped jeans
Maxi dresses

niminypiminy · 27/04/2015 14:29

Oh, yes, pop of colour. I thought I'd watch a Lisa Eldridge video after people on here had raved about her, and she used the phrase 'pop of colour' about once a minute -- I had to turn it off quite quickly.

God yes, peplums.

I LIKE red fingernails though!

Can't stand open-toe boots. So pointless and look horrible.

Massively oversized dresses from the likes of Toast, like you're wearing a yurt.

Culottes. I just can't find anything to like about any of them.

Sleeveless coats. Stop taking the piss.

letitlinger · 27/04/2015 14:31

And body con dresses. I have a lot of dress hatred!

AmelieinOz · 27/04/2015 14:31

Oh, I forgot - I don't like tent dresses. And batwing sleeves. And flutter sleeves. Also tunics.

I also think the leather biker gilet looks weird.

niminypiminy · 27/04/2015 14:34

How could I forget?

Sleeveless polo neck jumpers. How pointless is that?

Sleeveless shirts. Why?

Gladiator sandals
Harem pants
"Fashion" tights (the ones with pictures or funny patterns on them)
Mini skirts
Ombre highlights
fake eyelashes

jjwhite · 27/04/2015 14:39

Sorry niminypiminy Blush bound to happen at some point or other on this thread!

I'm also well aware I'm preaching the style rules as if I'm some pinnacle of high fashion but then look down at myself clothed in comfy leggings teamed with comfy maternity bra and comfy £4 t-shirt in a palette of dishwater greys...

niminypiminy · 27/04/2015 14:41

s'fine Smile

lots of what I love has been dissed already, and I'm sure other people are thinking 'oh, but I love sleeveless polo necks. Just finding it therapeutic to get all the grouches out there.

cressetmama · 27/04/2015 14:41

Short/cap sleeves. Three-quarter length or longer, or sleeveless please.

Logos, especially on bags. Or on spec frames. Not keen on metal hardware either.

Garish nylon trainers.

Pink and purple anoraks.

TulipOHare · 27/04/2015 14:47

Personal hates:

Zips on knitwear
Concealed fastenings on coats
Quiffs
Long squared-off nails
Shiny pointy shoes

All ugh

jjwhite · 27/04/2015 14:51

Other things that I'm not a fan of (really enjoying ranting!! sorry!):

The fake-leather (PVC?) trouser/leggings trend that seems to be having a bit of a revival... I have seen some women wearing them where they look good (admittedly usually dead slim and tall, and high quality leather/ proper trouser cuts) but 9/10 they just look naff... Also usually seen teamed with big fluffy or furry coats - not a great look imho.

Also pretty much all tights that aren't black or nude... I don't think I've ever seen a pair of mustard or port coloured tights that looked good...

Anything that would fall under the category 'sports luxe' so yeah - platformed/wedge trainers as mentioned above, but also any kind of tracksuit/sports item worn in such a way that looks really impractical e.g. harem/tracksuit trousers teamed with heels... Looks a bit too stylised for me...

On the beauty front you quite often see girls in the UK who are obviously of British decent (i.e. very pale white skin, looks like they'd burn in the sun, blue/green eyes) but who have decided to embrace the Mediterranean, spanish/italian look so have dyed their otherwise light brunette hair dark black, and then wacked on some fake tan/drawn on some dark eyebrows/layered on the mascara. It just looks odd - certainly not convincing... And imagine if it was the other way round and spanish girls were dying their hair strawberry blonde and applying foundation a few shades too light?! I don't get it personally...

polyhymnia · 27/04/2015 14:52

Tent dresses and ditto tops with no definition, specially when they're on large people like me ( a style favoured by Dawn French's frightful label - 1647 or whatever).

Far from flattering, they make you look bigger, like a massive ship in full sail.

EuphemiaCoxton · 27/04/2015 14:52

Long pointy nails.
Animal prints.
Fleecy tracksuits. I bet they are super comfortable but I hate the way they look. Actually unless someone is doing sport I don't see why people wear sportswear.
Uggs. I will make myself very unpopular for saying so but I think they're awful.
Pandora jewellery, I don't get it.
Anything that means paying someone's advertising for them. Why spend a fortune on an LV bag and do their advertising for them??????
Tango tans
Massive painted on eyebrows
Linen trousers. In films and magazines they look elegant, cool as a cucumber and flattering. They make me look like a crumpled large arsed mess with major vpl, no matter what size pants I wear.
Dark lip liner with pale lips

flux500 · 27/04/2015 14:54

Walking jacket (like trespass or something like that) worn with a proper handbag (usually black leatherette with gold metal work)

Marmaladybird · 27/04/2015 14:54

Quilted jackets/anything
Hunter wellies
Bubble hems
Frilly armholes (make my shoulders look massive)
Powdery makeup
False lashes
Crocs and their derivatives

polyhymnia · 27/04/2015 14:58

All asymmetric hems on dresses or tops.

AmelieinOz · 27/04/2015 15:02

Oh yeah - animal prints! Major hate.

I also don't like paisley. And cap sleeves.

AmelieinOz · 27/04/2015 15:02

Tribal print too.

flux500 · 27/04/2015 15:06

Grey marl baggy trackies on men. Yes, we know you have a cock and balls, and thanks to the trackies we can see them in detail, and so can the children we are taking to school. Lovely!

AmelieinOz · 27/04/2015 15:13

Also joggers made of sweatshirt fabric tucked into tops. Usually worn with high heels. It can be cute but most of the time, it does show off camel toe.

polyhymnia · 27/04/2015 15:26

In fact one of my top hates is any type of trouser or jean that produces/ emphasises camel toe and all tops or blouses that are too short to cover said toe.
