www.warehouse.co.uk/wrap-detail-dress/all/warehouse/fcp-product/02382277 Has anyone seen this irl? Or can tell from the pic if its a true wrap or just a crossover type but can't open?

Love this thread, I actually do a school run and I do like to look at least presentable for it, particularly now that the warmer weather means that I can emerge from my parka.

I just bought stripey as a throw on, looks presentable summer dress. Cotton too which is unreasonably hard to find. Hopefully it's not too shapeless or flimsy.

It hasn't arrived yet, but it says 90cm long in a size 10.

This might not be enormously helpful but I bought this <a class="break-all" href="http://m.oldnavy.gap.com/product.html?dn=op344525022&dv=1&kwid=1&referrer=www.oldnavy.com/commonDomainFrame.do?targetURL=%2Fbrowse%2Fproduct.do%3Fpid%3D344525022%26vid%3D1%26locale%3Den_US%26kwid%3D1%26sem%3Dfalse%26sdReferer%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.oldnavy.com%252Fproducts%252Fshift-dress.jsp&sem=true&locale=en_US&sdReferer=www.oldnavy.com/products/shift-dress.jsp&pid=344525022&sem=false&vid=1" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Old Navy dress on hols in the U.S. over Easter and it def ticks all the SRD boxes for me. Has a nice exposed zip detail down the back too. I haven't looked into whether Old Navy ship to the UK. I hope they do as I got loads of other lovely stuff too!

The stripey dress arrived and its a definite keeper. Lovely quality cotton and the royal blue makes it so much more flattering. About knee length on me at 5ft 4.

Tiredemma · 21/04/2015 12:43

this just arrived

reasonable length as I am under 5ft

Hardly vintage seeing as I don't post for years at a time, but I think I know the type of dress you mean.
Prefer shirtdresses with belts, not tunics tho:

This is good but only left in grey, and in large/tall sizes now:
www.gap.co.uk/browse/product.do?vid=2&pid=000227365000

I love this but it's cut for the small of shoulder and chest:
www.asos.com/fred-perry/fred-perry-spotty-shirt-dress/prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=4836555&clr=Carbonblue&SearchQuery=fred+perry+dress&pgesize=14&pge=0&totalstyles=14&gridsize=3&gridrow=3&gridcolumn=2
There are several other nice Fred Perry cotton shirt dresses on ASOS, though some presumably dislike the brand. And the dresses may be a bit short on taller people.
This Breton stripe one is more hourglass-friendly:
www.asos.com/fred-perry/fred-perry-striped-polo-shirt-dress/prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=4836550&clr=Frenchnavy&SearchQuery=fred+perry+dress&pgesize=13&pge=0&totalstyles=13&gridsize=3&gridrow=3&gridcolumn=1

I think this feels very cottony for a synthetic; YMMV://www.asos.com/river-island/river-island-casual-shirt-dress/prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=4973521&clr=Darkblue&SearchQuery=river+island+shirt+dress&pgesize=10&pge=0&totalstyles=10&gridsize=3&gridrow=1&gridcolumn=3

Lots of khaki shirtdresses about this year, really wanted one, but have been disappointed with the fit / cut of every one I've tried.

BallroomWithNoBalls · 21/04/2015 21:39

I bought this Asda khaki shirtdress yesterday and it's really nice. Viscose mix which I normally avoid like the plague but it doesn't seem to crease too badly - as long as it doesn't end up misshapen after a wash it will be pretty close to my perfect SRD. Website pics don't show its drapeyness, it looks really stiff but it's not, it's more lyocell-like.

BallroomWithNoBalls · 21/04/2015 21:43

(At 34 weeks pg the size 12 just fits over my bump but looks silly, so will save for postnatal summer lazing)
