Broderie anglaise in red sounds lovely - link please!

I bought a striped t-shirt yesterday but am wearing it today and feel a bit fat and middle-aged in it tbh. :(

ScrambledSmegsMP · 07/04/2015 16:46

Oh gawd, did I not? Bloody Easter holidays, turning my brain to mush.

Here you go. Yet another White Stuff purchase I should get commission.

(I sized up btw, I have an impressive embonpoint and most of their stuff is cut for the more athletic of nork).

Twinklestein · 07/04/2015 16:48

That's perdy. I've never bought anything from White Stuff.

ScrambledSmegsMP · 07/04/2015 16:57

Neither had I till last week. Then 3 at once (bought jumper in the sale). I'm worried it's a slippery slope - next thing I'll be eyeing up the stuff on the Country Casuals rails and then it's jigsaw puzzles and Werthers Originals before you know it.

ScrambledSmegsMP · 07/04/2015 17:02

Btw Twinklestein where is that dress from? It's lovely.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/04/2015 17:14

Lovely.

A bit too 'dressy' for me for day to day, but v nice.

BallroomWithNoBalls · 07/04/2015 17:16

Remus I'm not keen on either of the sandals you linked, Hobbs slightly better than Clarks but both a bit middle aged in their delicateness no?

Do you not like Saltwater ones?

It is finally sr dress and sandals weather!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/04/2015 17:24

Really don't like the Saltwater ones.

I have little, narrow feet and skinny ankles. Delicate works for me, and I suppose that I AM middle-aged too, tbh. :)

I rather like these Topshop ones too but they have a whiff of Jesus about them.

ScrambledSmegsMP · 07/04/2015 17:26

It's not dressy on me - much more of a day dress, especially with my flat sandals . I presume that's because I'm a total scruffy tramp Wink.

BallroomWithNoBalls · 07/04/2015 17:28

Nope I have to agree to disagree Remus! It's the t-bar I find excruciatingly cutesy. But horses for courses. I like Lotta clogs etc.

ScrambledSmegsMP · 07/04/2015 17:28

I have a pair of those in tan from a year or two ago, Remus. They're very Provençal chic, not Jesus-y. I felt all Audrey Hepburn on the Cote D'Azur in them. Buy them, you won't regret it!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/04/2015 17:28

I like cute - am still a bit of a Sarah band girl at heart.

noddyholder · 07/04/2015 17:55

There is a nice red broderie dress in Debenhams wouldn't work on me but would be nice with a jean jacket and flats Will try and find on web

MrsPeacockDidIt · 07/04/2015 18:48

I rather like this from joules and at 5'1 I think it would be a good length. They also have another red broderie anglais dress similar to the fat face one.

MrsPeacockDidIt · 07/04/2015 18:49

Sorry pink not red here

noddyholder · 07/04/2015 18:53

www.monki.com/Dresses/Nor_dress/27338-10033001.1# i like this but fear it might be cheap looking as it is! Would be useful though as an everyhday throw on

ElizabethHoover · 07/04/2015 19:49

the Marks denim dress came today. loved the top but the bottom looked really wide and made me look huge www.marksandspencer.com/tencel-denim-shirt-dress/p/p22371433

scrambledsmegsMP Twinklestein's dress is from M&S Limited Collection. I have it too and love it. It is very short though- I am not too giant 5ft 7" but I do have long legs. It's also a thin polyester and a bit static-y so not sure how it would work with bare legs.(I wear with leggings- a sin I know!) I can't find it on the website anymore but may still be in store.
I am a longtime lurker in Style and Beauty but love the idea of a school run dress and have many, many almost identical to what you're suggesting. I never do the school run though and wear all mine on the other side of the gates as a primary teacher! I wonder if there's any MN parents watching me....Hmm

noddyholder · 07/04/2015 20:22

Love the top

BallroomWithNoBalls · 07/04/2015 20:35

Noddy that dress is quite Hush-esque at a quarter of the price, worth a shot. It'd need careful underwear (probably a slip!) and accessories though to avoid the nightie look.

Tesco have this dress which looks great, nice jersey and lovely shape.

ElizabethHoover · 07/04/2015 20:51

Ooh like that tesco one.

I like this from Joules although it's very similar to what I normally wear:
