Goid lord,so much so early. Drinking my mug of fresh coffee sitting in the sunshine at my kitchen table before work....heaven for 5mins

ujj [?] Lakeland E cloth is what you need for granite....mine is shiny black and the e cloth and a spray of water is so easy.

What's the Vogue programme called? Channel? Think working for Vogue would be horrendous despite the glamorous image.

Today I'm wearing black skinnies, TS blue cotton shirt (love this so much) black loafers, simple.......

QueenCardigan · 24/03/2015 08:13

AW is funny isn't she. You're right santa, she hasn't changed at all. Even her hair and clothes are exactly the same. I sometimes wonder how she stays so relevant and powerful. GC seems like a really nice person and you wonder why she stays there. I would hate to work at Vogue as I imagine it to be really sneery and competitive but maybe it's not.

Ootd again is sports wear. Feeling porky so going for bike ride after school run.

shopafrolic · 24/03/2015 08:16

Not sure I'm feeling this Proenza campaign Hmm

Morning!

Ds still coping well with the pox but I'm starting to feel like I'm under house arrest. Have promised him we can decorate an Easter basket later for egg hunt. Dsis is coming over too for company.

I saw The September Issue when it came out, can't remember properly but there was a funny bit will Sienna Miller and AW being disdainful about celebrity. That's what made me think the world of fashion has changed since, now she puts Kim & Kanye on the front cover.

I remember a couple of years ago flicking through a magazine, ds pointed to a pic of AW and exclaimed 'it's Grandma'!!

Undecided90 · 24/03/2015 09:26

Grin at its grandma.

shopafrolic · 24/03/2015 09:29

Poor you Mara I hate being cooped up. Good that you'll have some company today.

Morning all. I am having a full on shoe crisis (first world problem with bells on this). I hate buying them, 99% of shoes hurt my feet. A pair of Next heeled loafers that looked OK destroyed my feet yesterday. I didn't realise just how sore they are until I was on my way out the door so had already dressed. The only shoes that I could walk in don't work with my outfit at all. Then DH got really grumpy with me for being such a drama queen fretting over how I look. So I have

  1. Sore feet
  2. An outfit which should be good but the shoes are so, so wrong
  3. A pissed of DH

And I am running late for my meeting with a person who will bill for every sodding minute at an extortionate rate so I will get grief from my project sponsor over costs....

libertychick · 24/03/2015 09:39

Off not of...

LinusDKD · 24/03/2015 09:45

Lovely Jill Sander bag fedup!

dry I got your lovely card and Asos voucher today, thank you so much! I think a little shopping will be in order once the DC have gone to bed tonight. Wink

Hope the cabing fever doesn't get too bad mara!

I saw The September Issue last year and I did like it but, as santa says, things have changed so much since then.

I do admire AW for her business sense and her no-nonsense approach towards very often flaky and pretentious designers but she does seem to be near the end of her reign now.

I read Grace Coddington's autobiography around the same time and really admire her passion for what she does.

shop it's clear that no GC was involved in the making of that Proenza campaign. Hmm

shopafrolic · 24/03/2015 09:47

Grin Linus
Sending hugs and chilled out vibes to Lib - feeling your first world problem pain.

QueenCardigan · 24/03/2015 10:14

Half dead after my cycle ride Grin.
mara is there anywhere you can take him where you'll be unlikely to meet any other kids? We have a nearby nature reserve and duck pond which is rarely busy so I chanced it and took dd there when she had pox.
lib poor you. Nothing worse than shredded feet. Can you wear trainers to travel in between meetings and then change into shoes?

OneLittleLady · 24/03/2015 10:39

i haven't read vogue for ages. i got fed up of it as everything in it was so far out of my reach, it just made me feel bad and dowdy instead of inspired.i might give it another go though and get a copy for the plan, its a long flight so need plenty of entertainment

Cranagh · 24/03/2015 10:44

Several of my friends worked for magazines, they said the pay was rubbish! Good freebies though.

QueenC, go for the bag, I say.

Mara, the having to stay home bit is the worst.

Liberty, try Elia B shoes, they are really comfy. I cannot stand (literally!) uncomfortable shoes.

Stokey · 24/03/2015 11:12

I worked for Bliss years ago, great clothes cupboard that you could borrow from, and various tickets to premieres and parties but appalling pay. Even the editor didn't make much. So I switched to less fun but more lucrative financial world.

BTW keep meaning to ask if you've made any progress on the job front Marsha ?

MarshaBrady · 24/03/2015 11:15

Funny you should ask that Stokey. Two places are offering today. Am very tense. Not sure what which I want. I just got letter 1, feel like going into hiding!

Stokey · 24/03/2015 11:42

Wow, tricky dilemma! Good luck, it's hard to know which will fit your lifestyle best.

I saw the commercial manager at my job before last yesterday and she's quite keen for me to come back but in a business development role that will mean a lot of travel. They have no budget till July though so I have a bit of time to consider. I've asked if I could maybe do it as a 2-3 day week which would take the pain out of the travel a bit but we'll see.

MarshaBrady · 24/03/2015 11:56

That sounds like a good way to go Stokey. Esp the long lead time you can relax whilst you wait for July!

BerniceBobsHerHair · 24/03/2015 12:57

Congrats on job offers Marsha and Stokey - is that UK or international travel?

Liberty do you have any go to brands for shoes that you like and are comfy? I am up for a shoe hunt if you want to give me some parameters. What causes the pain? Width? Hard leather? No cushioning?

QueenC does the bag you are looking at fulfil a different function to your other bags? I think you said it is pink? I like bright bags as I tend to dress in mainly dark or monochrome colours. Pink would look good with the blues you like to wear.

Fedup love that Jil Sander bag, swoon.

I like those trousers QQ . I have form for shopping from M&S. I ordered this jumpsuit to try. Still V tempted by Shop's

Linus I think I will order the Warehouse shirt too, I like ice pink but it is a hard colour to find.

Today am wearing pine green flannel shirt, blue jeans rolled up, navy stans and charcoal grey blazer...still really unsure about the blazer look on me. The shoulders are very structured and emphasise my swimmer's shoulders.

Drywhiteplease · 24/03/2015 13:33

liberty this mnv remember where a fashion crisis is a fashion crisis Grin

Killing time in car before spin class, just caught sight of my face in different light, I'm soooooo shiny Shock really worries me about different light/ reading glasses/ make up combo...... Leave the house thinking I look ok, wondering whether in reality I look a fright Shock......... Mind you in half an hour I'll look a lot worse Sad This is a HUGE problem Grin

Mara I remember sick child cabin fever, my sympathies.

WhattoWearNow · 24/03/2015 14:08

Cranagh - did you get the FitBit in the end?
Dry - not sure if you have had your consultation yet for botox. Hope it doesn't give you the sh*ts! I took the plunge half way through last year & my humble findings are:

  1. It is expensive - it can last between 6 weeks & 18 months. The average is 4 months but this can stretch to 6 months once you have had it a few times, as it does last longer the more you have had apparently. It all depends on how quickly your body heals itself as you are effectively killing those nerve endings I think, which then heal themselves. I have had it twice - it lasted 3 months both times.
  2. It gives your forehead quite a heavy feeling to start with, though this does lessen. A light touch is so much better as you end up with a v shiny immobile forehead otherwise but I found a light touch didn't last long in my case.
  3. It gave me spots! Maybe I did look more youthful with them but it wasn't the look I was going for. Apparently with botox the sebaceous glands come closer to the surface of the skin which can make it more greasy.
  4. You will get lines in other places eg bunny lines (top of the nose) as other muscles have to work harder. So you need more botox in more areas, which increases the cost.....

I had it twice and much as I liked having less prominent lines, it really only lasted 6 weeks as I wanted a light touch. I got spots and bunny lines & it cost me £500, which is too much tbh. I would rather eat better, sleep better, drink more water and get a new handbag (if I have a spare £500 again)!
Not sure if this helps - let us know how you get on (sorry if you have already done the deed & I missed it)!

Drywhiteplease · 24/03/2015 15:39

Thanks for that info Whatto . I'm going in for a chat tomorrow and will decide after that. Apart from the expense, my main concern is once you start, when do you stop? If I like the result, is that it forever or do I decide one day in the future to live with my frown lines.

AmberNectarine · 24/03/2015 15:59

Got sucked in by the Very sale preview and ordered some junior white and pink Stans for £26. Have worn my current ones every day since I got them so I think they'll be a good buy. Also ordered these sandals as there is an extra 30% off on lots of stuff at Yoox today and I liked the fringing!

Day 2 of my new health regime and I ignored my muscle soreness and went for a run. Now borderline crippled. Hmmm.

WhattoWearNow · 24/03/2015 16:38

Dry - I think it is a lifelong commitment if you like the results. It may slow down the development of wrinkles so they are less obvious if you did stop at some point - I'm not sure (mine look the same). Good luck for tomorrow - will you tell your family if you do go for it or just pretend you found a great face cream Wink
