Whatto that's a great question.....wouldn't tell my kids but think my sisters might notice, and I'm a lousy liar. Couldn't possibly tell my mother.

Cranagh · 24/03/2015 17:37

WhattoWearNow, I haven't bought the Fitbit yet though still want it, as I ordered the Marc by Marc Jacobs bag. My friend has the Fitbit Charge and is not impressed with it, she said to get the Charge Plus instead.

OneLittleLady · 24/03/2015 18:00

bags packed, mediction gathered, appropriate documentation obtained and with meds. All I need to do tonight is eat, have my nails done (my Dsis is doing them, shes very good at it) shower and get some sleep as I leave for london early tomorrow morning. Arrrrgh, I don't know if i'm excited, nervous or both

dry would you ever consider other things if the botox is a route you go down? would anyone here? I don't think I would but I don't really have any signs of ageing right now so I might change my mind if I suddenly get some!!

libertychick · 24/03/2015 18:05

Fedup lovely links this morning - especially liked the Jill Sander bag and the Oscar de la Renta dress.

Shop Confused on the PS ad too - bit try hard IMO.

Cranagh Thanks for the Elia B recommendation – I have just ordered these leopard print loafers to try them out.

Bernice love the jumpsuit and Flowers for the offer of shoe help Smile. I was walking past Jones the Bootmaker after my meeting and I went in and said to the very nice man that I need some comfy shoes and I ended up buying (ugly shoe alert warning for santa and marsha Grin) these Gabor wedge pumps. Not going to add to my style credentials (in fact they may be the death knell on all aspirations to style) but they will work with most of my work clothes and are so comfy – happy toes!

And when I was in Jones I bought this lovely leather leopard print purse – with all the leopard print today I seem to be channelling Betty

Great info on botox What. I had no idea it could cause spots. The cost puts me off trying it –and the scary frozen look so many women in London seem to have--

libertychick · 24/03/2015 18:09

But as you asked Bernice – if you are browsing shoes here are my requirements!!

I need cushioning, seem to get a lot of blisters on my soles – for same reason generally can’t do high heels (although these Hobbs heels are ok though not for walking around in all day)

My heels get blistered really easily; even shoes I have owned for ages can cause it. I rarely go without socks or tights as a result. So no hard leather!

My feet are wide, lots of shoes tend to pinch across the point just below my toes and lots of slipper or ballet type shoes seem to pinch there when walking and end up cracking at that point. I love the look of pointy toes but round or almond toe is better.

I have a bad back and it’s getting worse so more and more I am finding that very flat shoes cause back pain.

I have a funny walk – hard to explain but I have a distinctive gait – I wear shoes down on the right heel very fast and I tend to trip a lot so I wreck the front of shoes and am a risk to myself in open toe sandals as they catch – I’ve damaged the front of my lovely new R&B sandals after only 4 or 5 wears Sad. For that reason I begrudge spending a lot on shoes as I feel like they get ruined very fast but I may need to get over that.

I tend to shop at Clarks and M&S (especially the autograph shoes). Recently though I think Clarks are not as good as they used to be and are getting very expensive – also they cannot be repaired. I love, love, love my Sam Edelman Petty boots, very comfortable. I have my eyes peeled for a dark brown leather pair at a good price. I also love my Dune black brogues, they are not quite as masculine as a lot of brogues but as they are black they are not working with my new autumn clothes. I will probably get a pair of tan brogues at some point.

Reading back on all that it might be easier to change jobs actually Grin. I need a lifestyle where I just wear trainers and low heeled boots.

And sorry, very long self-absorbed essay Smile

QueenC good point about wearing trainers and changing but I carry a lot of stuff around every day (laptop, cables, lots of papers and materials for workshops). I often carry a full tote bag and have things in my Pliage as well so I can't face having more daily luggage.

libertychick · 24/03/2015 18:12

And if anyone is looking for a summer ankle boot these ones in Jones are lovely. I would have bought them but the 5 was too small and the 6 too big and no half sizes unfortunately.

Fedupnagging · 24/03/2015 18:28

Just settling down to watch The September Issue - will return later.

maradesbois · 24/03/2015 18:35

Hello,

Lib I enjoyed reading your foot/shoe essay. Maybe it could be worth seeing someone medical to get advice? Think brogues could be good for you, ones with soft supple leather fratelli Rossetti style, will have a look.

QueenC good idea about getting out of the house. Will try and do at least back garden tomorrow.

Meanwhile I've cleaned all kitchen cupboards, scrubbed the oven hood and all woodwork. Stuff that our cleaner doesn't do. Found a pic of dh and I at a wedding about 6 years ago. I was sooo thin but didn't think so at the time. Must've been about a stone less than now, want to get back to that & seems achievable.

Marsha & Stokey good news re work, nice to have the ball in your court.

Dry I've had Botox a few times on my no 11 lines & never been tempted to take it further. Have always been happy with it until the last one which was in dec. Was a new doctor and think she put too much in, got a headache afterwards and it affected my lower forehead which didn't want. Am planning to lay off it for a bit. Worth getting the consultation to see what you think.

maradesbois · 24/03/2015 18:39

this sort of thing Lib.

Drywhiteplease · 24/03/2015 18:42

One I actually think I'd prefer to age gracefully. Decent hair, clothes and gym added to a good diet and plenty go laughing is the way for me. But, I hate my 11s. Always have. When my face is in neutral or I'm concentrating I frown which is horrid. I loathe pictures of me when I'm unaware because I look cross Sad ....and you know me, I'm not really. I can live with all of my other wrinkles, mostly laughter lines which I like, but frown lines........that's why I'm thinking of Botox. Not a huge problem really.
Have a good trip. You'll have a blast, I love Orlando. Smile

maradesbois · 24/03/2015 18:42

Or these

maradesbois · 24/03/2015 18:43

Work-appropriate loafers

maradesbois · 24/03/2015 18:47

or these

maradesbois · 24/03/2015 18:49

Clarks brogues

OneLittleLady · 24/03/2015 18:54

i think you look fab Dry but i can understand you hating them, I bet few people notice but you do and you are your harshest critic. i know im mine!

waiting for dp to get on skype to make sure he knows where to meet me tomorrow and then im off to finish prepping! arrrgh, i just want it over with, the flights and everything i mean.

LinusDKD · 24/03/2015 19:21

I feel about my 11's like you do dry!

Yes to ageing gracefully,so I don't mind laughter lines either but anything that makes me look cross I dislike. Marrionette lines is another thing I think I might get later on in life and probably jowls as well.

God, I sound like I'm going to turn into Winston Churchill! Grin

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 24/03/2015 19:24

Hi all.

I have similar brogues from Clarks and they are very comfy. I sympathise Lib, I hate going from winter to summer as boots don't rub my feet and I can walk so much more confidently. Summer shoes just rub everywhere and don't stay on feet properly! Those Gabor shoes are fine, I imagined much worse from your description!

One so excited for you, you're going to have a fantastic time.

This pic has awakened a craving for white trainers I didn't know I had! I jumped on the trainer wagon a couple of years ago, with teal air maxes (Karbea you'd like them) but now I fancy these. The white and pink Stans sound cool Amber.

Just ordered some gold sugar from Amazon. I want to put it on the rims of Bellini glasses at the wedding, but the hotel told me that for them to take care of that would be £1.50 a glass Shock so I'm going to try it out myself.

LinusDKD · 24/03/2015 19:27

Cranagh, let me know what that shirt is like as you'll probably get it before me.

Oh and when did Asos start charging for international delivery? It's not much but I never had to pay before.

Last week I saw a lovely Kenzo sweatshirt in the shops and I have been thinking about it since.

I remember DM wearing Kenzo in the '80 and it seems it's coming back into fashion (like Moschino! I used to have one of their tees as a child) but I'm not sure I can spend ££ on a sweatshirt that will be dated next year.

What does MNV think?

libertychick · 24/03/2015 20:00

Can you link the sweater Linus? I like a lot of Kenzo stuff - this skirt for example. Some of the prints on the sweaters are too big for me but they are very cool IMO.

Mara thanks for the shoes links - I have pinned them all to mull over. I think a pair of pale brogues might be a good idea for summer - I particularly like the Russel and Bromley ones - I think they'd work well with this Uniqlo dress

Drywhiteplease · 24/03/2015 20:01

linus what are "marionette" lines? Confused

QueenCardigan · 24/03/2015 20:06

lib have you looked at hush puppies? I haven't been in for ages as our local one closed down but I fid buy ballet flats from there last year and are v comfy. Or Hotter? Some of their stuff is proper old lady but last time I looked in a catalogue they seemed to have some ok bits. None of them will win style awards but at least you'll be comfy.

The gap top arrived but will sadly be going back. It's a little shapeless (probably coukd size down from xxl tbh) but the sleeves are v odd. I have narrow shoulders and this top makes them look wide. I also ordered another pair of curvy jeans but in a paler wash. Again, like the others I bought and returned I'll be returning these too. I really like them and maybe if I had an infinite amount of money I'd keep them but I just can't see me wearing them much. I'm thinking if they're still on trend in the autumn I'd be better off getting some them.

Still can't decided about the bag. Whoever asked, it is pink and I do have a pink bag but it's the one I bought from Morocco last year that looks a bit sad and cheap this year. I used it a lot so I know that I would use this bag.

Karbea · 24/03/2015 20:09

dry I have had botox 4 times, the last time was in January. It has never given me spots. I have had very long breaks between each time I've had it, so I don't think if you start you'd necessarily keep having it done. I agree you feel heavy in the fore head initially.
You must be very clear with the person what sort of look you want, natural or botox end, some poeple want to look botoxed apparently.

I went to tk maxx today, I tried on a pair of off white (yellow) and white jeans. The yellow ones looked yellow! And I really didn't like how much you could see the inside of the pockets on the white ones (com paranoid about see thru white jeans) so I left them. I did pick up some neom candles and a fitted sheet

Drywhiteplease · 24/03/2015 20:10

Right.....starting "The September Issue"

santamarianovella · 24/03/2015 20:10

fedup my foot is much better, thanks for asking, did pilates this morning and had no pain, enjoy the September issue,

mara poor ds, hang in there,it will be over soon, yes, take him outside if no kids are around,

queen ,maybe save the money for something else if you don't need anything ATM,

linus I totally get what you mean, I remember kenzo from my early teens in mid 90s as this bright Japanese brand, didnt like it then and I don't like it now,
But if the sweater looks like something that won't date then maybe go for it?
Can u link it?
I want buy a few things, but really not feeling up to it, I have a €100 euro off €300 spend voucher, for a store here, but the only thing I like is A Bruno dress, which I like but I won't be able to wear now,so see no point buying ATM ,

I'm reading Clarissa Dickson wright's ," a history of English food, " fab read, its like a lesson in all things British and I read it with her voice in my head because that the way it should be read, . i love English food, its just so wholesome and comforting. not pretentious . straight to the point, and it really goes with the climate, its like the food+ the weather makes a memorable experience, , I'm really craving a full English! We had some here, but its not as good as the ones we had back in London, we used to go regularly to a couple of places that make the most amazing English breakfast, yummmy!

Forgive my rambling ,I'm just hungry, Grin
