I'm laughing at the thought of walking into a bar and hearing a resounding "Ooooodge" shouted across the room Grin

Alright then, count me in. I will be the scruffy, anxious & slightly squiffy gal with glowing cheeks in the flat shoes!

Amber would be great to see a jeans sizing blog post. I find it infuriating. Sizing can vary across product within brands never mind between brands. And surprisingly it isn't always the cheaper end of the high street that's guilty of it either. Marsha I think Acne is cut small too, along with Armani (especially the jeans/trousers) & Vanessa Bruno. Vivienne Westwood sizing varies hugely too. I have one of her dresses that is a small but when I went to the store I ended up trying on as large as an XL with some styles.

The Brits was weird. I hate how the US stars are given so much more attention & that we should be grateful that they have bothered to turn up. It makes us look like a crap, poor relation. Kanye was just dreadful (I'm sure he'll be gutted by my critique). Poor Madonna - as she was struggling with the tie I was saying "this is not going to end well" and then bam she was down. Big up to her for getting up and carrying on though. That had to hurt.

Fashion wise I liked Rita Ora's outfit until I realised it was a jumpsuit rather than a dress. And I thought Fearne Cotton looked great - she is a style crush of mine and the reason I occasionally brave the heels and socks look.

AmberNectarine · 26/02/2015 11:09

Sorry but I've got to call bullshit on the 'short, wide trousers' thing - they be culottes, my friends.

It's like calling dungarees overalls or a jumpsuit. A rose by any other name and all that...

OneLittleLady · 26/02/2015 11:29

haha, I need to know if there are any choruses of 'ooooodge' Grin

yy, they are culottes. I'm tempted by culottes myself but I'd worry they'd make me look dumpy and wide rather than young and carefree

Still shivering and sweating under my blanket with my mop bucket next to me. I'm sipping water so I don't dehydrate but not gulping it as any bigger gulps are making me sick Sad

libertychick · 26/02/2015 11:32

I did wonder if they were really culottes Grin. They look like short wide trousers on though rather than a skirt. I may have to buy and try out with a few things maybe post a special pic for Amber

I am wearing my new Uniqlo shirt today. Big thumbs up for this, great fit and the cotton is really lovely, soft and silky feeling, I will definitely get another one. Only niggle is that I don't like the buttons but I'll change them.

MarshaBrady · 26/02/2015 11:58

Perhaps they need to be from the Culotte region of France

MarshaBrady · 26/02/2015 11:58

joke Grin

MarshaBrady · 26/02/2015 12:04

Ujj I'm glad you say that about acne. I was pretty much pulling the same face as the blogger in Liberty trying them on. Not impressed. I'd put Stella Mc and Preen in there too. Now I know the latter did a lot of selling in Japan or still do, and I bet that influences it.

I feel like I can't buy on principle though, don't make me feel bigger than I am

bettykt · 26/02/2015 13:50

Marsha that dress your wore to the last MU was gorgeous and you looked fab

Only saw the end of The Brits and saw Madge go down, damn cape.

Interesting article about the jeans Shop I'm a sucker for vanity sizing Blush and will buy jeans at certain shops as I know they will fit me in my usual size. I don't like sizing up in jeans as that's an admission that I need to lose a few pounds Grin which I'm in the process of doing anyway. Sizing has gone to pot as when I get to my target size, which I was at a long time ago, I have a feeling that I will be sizing down to a size that I've never worn before, even when I was that weight Hmm

Loving your new style blog Amber I love the leopard print banner, yeah and the belt on your denim skirt is fab u lous.

MarshaBrady · 26/02/2015 14:53

Thanks Betty I just watched that clip of Madonna falling. Oh that would have hurt. Poor thing

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 26/02/2015 14:53

I didn't realise Amber's blog has moved! Do I need to refollow on Bloglovin as the site name has changed?

Returned the 3 bras. It was obvious that once I had got the wings stuck on, the front bit would be just sitting in front of my boobs rather than the boobs sitting in the bra - basically the cups/wires were totally the wrong shape and size for me. I'm not surprised now that I know what I do about bra fitting. No idea how a bra with a cup size but no band size is supposed to make sense anyway, when deciding what size to get...

maradesbois · 26/02/2015 15:18

Afternoon,

So annoyed, just paid an extra hour's parking due to dithering over a shirt in bloody zara. Bought the shirt though. Think this would be good on you too Lib. Quite like those culottes/short wide trousers but think they need a slim heel.

Also tried this dress as felt drawn to the springlike pattern but shape wasn't good on me plus mmf.

TS Jamie flares didn't work either. The flare is very subtle, want something tight to the knee but with double the kick out.

Shop yes, am sure that someone in Madge's entourage was for the high jump this morning! Wouldn't want to be on the wrong side of her.

Fab to see mu numbers increasing. Stokey have you decided yet?

maradesbois · 26/02/2015 15:25

Blair maybe get advice from the wedding dress shop about your bra dilemma. Not sure that any of those stick on things offer much support.

maradesbois · 26/02/2015 15:30

Marsha yes, think sales market definitely influences sizing & cut sometimes too eg with shirts. Dh showed me the difference once between a Ralph Lauren shirt he bought in HK and one from US. Ostensibly same size but the Asian one much narrower on shoulder & generally smaller fit.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 26/02/2015 15:51

Yeah I could ring them mara, I'm going there next week for a fitting and need to take the bra I'll be wearing. It's not that I want support, just to keep them in place under the dress. Maybe I'll try the silicone one I've got again with something tight over the top to see how it feels. And it's borrowed so that's something to tick off the list :)

Nice Zara shirt. Have only just been able to open the H&M link as the site was down when I tried earlier. I like the culottes, but not sure about the elasticated waist as I would always wear something tucked in with them...

Karbea · 26/02/2015 16:27

I'm a natural ingenue, I think she wanted me to be a romantic ingenue but my yin yang answers made me a natural. She said think rock chick!

libertychick · 26/02/2015 16:35

Sounds great karbea. Are you happy with it?

libertychick · 26/02/2015 16:38

mara I do like that shirt but the HoC lady said i should avoid anything 'mannish' like plaid as a romantic classic. TBH I am not sure about that as I love military style coats etc. I always struggle a bit with plaid - like it but never feel sure it works on me and DH says I look like a 'country girl' in it Grin

Ujjayi · 26/02/2015 16:43

How was your day Karbea? Are you pleased with the outcome?

Blair thats not good about the bra. Hope you manage to find a suitable alternative.

My neck and shoulders have just locked up. Feels horrendous - awful pain along my back too. I've been pattern cutting all day - standing but and bent over my desk which has probably set it off. Have an appointment with the osteopath on Monday so hope that it doesn't get worse before then :(

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 26/02/2015 16:49

How funny Karbea, my sister is a natural ingenue as well as being an autumn. Did you "see" it? And she didn't get told rock chick! Confused

Lib I like military coats too, but I have one that has quite a wide skirt, so is more feminine than a sharply tailored one.

libertychick · 26/02/2015 16:55

Do you wear plaid Blair? Wide skirted military style coat sounds fab!

Ouch Ujjayi.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 26/02/2015 16:58

Nope Lib, can't really imagine it either!

That sounds bad Ujjayi, hope you can get some relief before Monday :(

Karbea · 26/02/2015 17:11

blair she also said princess on a motorbike lol!

I get it for now but not sure what I'll wear when I'm 60!

I need to have a look on pinterest for some inspiration.
She loved what I was wearing... My new IM boots, pleather h&m leggings, floaty khaki RI top, cream/ivory iro jacket, LV animal print graffiti scarf. The only thing wrong was the iro jacket could have been more fitted than boyfriend.

Drywhiteplease · 26/02/2015 17:17

blair I actually really love the Rick Owens black top....v tempted. All my fav features.....boat neck, fitted, longish, sheer long sleeves. Not a fan of green tea, makes my stomach gurgle and tastes foul, stick to mint v soothing.
Marsha appellation contrôle from Culottes region Grin
Ujj hot bath, Ibuprofen ....auntie Dry Grin ..... and, I was so looking forward to meeting Fedup at K Cross with the opening words "are you Fedup?"Grin

QueenCardigan · 26/02/2015 17:18

Yay, karbea, you're similar to me in that I'm an ingenue natural so although she said I'm about 50:50 of each I obviously lean more towards the comfort side of things as a natural. Intetesting that she said rock chick but I guess ingenenue is youthful as well as pretty/girly. Can't wait to see what you come up with and what you buy.
