QueenC, hope the knee isn't too painful. Just off the top of my head and I'm sure I'll get distracted along the way Grin: navy DVF Zarita (the longer version), new trench coat as my old one is wrecked, R&B pink ballet flats There's just the small problem of paying for it all, ahem.

LinusDKD · 20/02/2015 08:54

Sounds like a great list cranagh! It was you who was also interested in that Burberry trench I bought last year, right?

It was an expensive coat but so worth it as I have worn it so much. It's one of those coats you throw on and it doesn't matter what you wear underneath (jeans and tee in my case), you still look smart.

ujjayi I agree with what has been said. Those flares look just ok on you and you can find a much better pair.

I am going to try mine again today but I struggle with footwear. Heels are a given in my case as I'm so short but what kind of heels.

I am leaning towards my Manolos as they are comfy and a height I can deal with but they are very classic.

shop what are you going to wear yours with?

queenc ouch! Maybe some more Wine will take the pain away? Wink

Talking about Wine, I think I might have my first glass in two weeks tonight. I nearly have my sense of taste back completely and my tummy doesn't turn at the thought of a glass, so I think I'll give it a go.

shopafrolic · 20/02/2015 09:29

Cranagh great list - love the bag :)
Aircraft museum today and then dinner tonight. If I do wear the flares then I'll wear my LKB shoe boots with them - just not sure what on top half..... Does anyone else always plan their outfits from the ground up?

OP posts:
libertychick · 20/02/2015 10:06

It's the only way to plan Shop! My morning what to wear debate starts with thinking about how much walking I have to do that day, is it wet / slippy etc, that dictates shoes and then the rest of the outfit goes from there!

Cranagh great list. As you know we are planning to relocate to Australia / NZ in a few years and I am starting to think about what things I need to acquire before we leave as so many things are much more expensive / harder to get there.

Take it easy today QueenC, get ice on it and put it up as much as possible.

Glad to hear you are feeling better Linus

I am so tired, has been a really busy week. Trying to see if I can squeeze in time for a manicure today, my nails are looking a bit messy and I haven't the energy to sort them out myself.

Cranagh · 20/02/2015 10:39

Glad you are feeling better, Linus I like your coat and I love Burberry bags but their coats are either too big on me, or if I size down, then too short in the arms. The curse of being tall. I have just bought a navy Theory spring parka which is similar. I "need" a DKNY trench I saw on the Outnet but waiting them to do an extra 30% off!

Liberty, that's what my SIL in Melbourne says but I'm sure the lifestyle will more than make up for it. Hope you get some time to yourself today.

Sounds like a nice day, Shop. We are off to Kew gardens again, it is lovely but I am there weekly! Wouldn't mind a little look around the Kings rd tomorrow on my own for research purposes Smile if I can persuade DH to spend some quality time with his daughters. I want to try on Rag & Bone jeans, I got a pair in TK Maxx a while ago and they are my new favourites. Need to add more of those to the list!

Ujjayi · 20/02/2015 12:13

Thanks for Flares Feedback (we should trademark that...). I love honesty when it comes to clothes and I hate being in a store where an assistant is trying to convince someone to buy something that actually looks pretty dreadful! Am in total agreement. They are nice but not nice enough and the pocket lining bugs me which is a shame as the jetted pocket itself is lovely and more flattering than a standard pocket arc that appears on most pairs of jeans. Dare I say it but...I think bootcut is actually the way most of us are more likely to be able to wear this trend rather than full on flare. I'm going to try the Topshop flares as they look to be slimmer through the thigh. WIT has them on today with some relatively low ankle boots and they look great so am about to order now. DH will be relieved. Yesterday, as he was taking snaps of me to post on here, he casually dropped in "oh are these responsible for the £200 something addition to the credit card? I did wonder..." However, he was suitably impressed that I am adopting a "buy less, choose well" policy this year (he doesn't understand why I cannot make everything myself...erm...I don't knit and I'd have no idea where to begin with a pair of jeans and because I'm busy making stuff for other people, maybe?)

Liberty I am unbelievably envious of your proposed relocation. Which part of Australia are you looking at? Melbourne is stunning and would be my first choice. I would love to live near St Kilda, near the beach (25 minute train to CBD) or South Yarra which was very much an up & coming area when I was there (18 years ago...may have changed!).

Cranagh lovely day to be at Kew but I understand how much we take things for granted when they are right on our doorstep. I probably see more of london now than when we lived there!

Sun is bright and shining here. Off to collect my newly fixed car and then boys want to spend 3 hours at the park playing muddy football (I may be sat in the car with Vogue and a flask).

Shop enjoy the aircraft museum and dinner with friends sounds like a lovely way to round off half term week. Post us a photo of your outfit please :)

Linus yay for being on the mend at last. And QueenC plenty of ice and arnica for the knee.

libertychick · 20/02/2015 13:27

I definitely can't do flares and love the idea that this trend might be the way back into bootcuts!

Ujjayi Melbourne is the preferred location ATM. I love St Kilda too but house prices in Melbourne are v high. We are working towards paying off the mortgage here before we leave (we hope to do that this year) and then ideally buying outright over there as the lifestyle plan is that we would both be able to work part time. DH is doing all the work of checking out suburbs etc and we know the compromise will be between having a small townhouse somewhere near a beach v's bigger house further inland. We only have one DD so if it came to it a two bed house would do - although the family in Ireland won't be impressed with that as they are all busy planning holidays already Grin. And obviously schools will be a big factor in the decision too.

libertychick · 20/02/2015 13:35

Just need a quick 'NAP check' on the return of the bootcut...out of 149 pairs of jeans on the site only 2 are bootcut (and one of those is white so immediately discounted in my head). The skinny still reigns supreme....

MarshaBrady · 20/02/2015 14:33

Blasted Liberty cafe and their offer of olives. Thought oh nice touch. Just realised how much they will probably charge for them. So irritating!

Have filed their cafe in same place as their crappy website.

Cranagh · 20/02/2015 14:34

My brother is in St Kilda! They are lookimg to buy there and it is so expensive, they may have to move out a bit.

libertychick · 20/02/2015 14:45

Grin at Marsha. Any Liberty purchases to report?

cranagh would be interested to hear where your brother does buy.

MarshaBrady · 20/02/2015 14:49

Lib I can't buy without their new season 20% off week. Also just needed to charge phone. £22! Including olives at 3.95. So annoyed Grin

libertychick · 20/02/2015 15:41
Ujjayi · 20/02/2015 15:53

Marsha they were most likely handcrafted & carefully curated olives

Lib go you on the "finish Friday with a mani" move. What colour are you going for? Am about to do mine (home not salon) perhaps you can inspire me. Currently wearing Kate Spade New York - gorgeous shade of red from Nails Inc. Might just do a lazy mani - file and quick fresh coat of same shade plus top coat.

Am off to look at houses in St Kilda now. Have me a little "fantasy life house shopping" time!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 20/02/2015 16:03

Ujjayi the word you are looking for is "artisan" Grin

My mum has bought this dress so hopefully all that's left to sort is the accessories!

We are out for dinner tonight with some friends, no idea what I'm going to wear yet but the good news is it's not meant to rain...

Karbea · 20/02/2015 17:19

blair I really like your mums dress.

shopafrolic · 20/02/2015 17:27

Having a complete what the hell do I wear tonight panic!
Was thinking flares, silk shirt, LKB shoe boots and Gina clutch. But am wondering whether jeans are dressy enough for where we are going..... (and whether anyone will realise that flares are back in fashion!).

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 20/02/2015 17:46

Scrap that idea - just checked their website and there is a no denim rule in public areas of the hotel after 6pm. Leather skinnies it is!

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 20/02/2015 18:07

God! Why am I so crap at dressing up?

OP posts:
BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 20/02/2015 18:29

Don't worry shop I've had that feeling tonight PMT and I felt so confident this morning. We are just going to a steakhouse in Battersea so I'm wearing jeans and new IM top with hint of boobs but heavy on the jewellery and red lips. I feel meh though. Hope you have fun, you'll look great.

Thanks Karbea!

libertychick · 20/02/2015 18:30

Shop you are not crap at dressing up! I bet you look fabulous.

Ujjayi with the Australia conversation in mind I opted for OPI Brisbane Bronze. Looks v nice. Beautician was all 'where are you going tonight?', me 'Nowhere, just want my nails to look pretty while i watch TV!'

Lovely dress for your Mum Blair. Is she going for a full hat or a fascinator?

LinusDKD · 20/02/2015 18:47

Love your DM's dress blair!

Leather leggings are a good choice shop, have fun.

marsha were those olives gold coated?! I hate it when they 'offer' something in a restaurant and then it ends up on the bill.

lib my nails are a disgrace at the moment but manicures are just ridiculously expensive here and I can't be arsed to do it myself. Blush

I tried on the skinny Marrakesh again today and I do really like them. My bum looks great in them and the fabric is lovely and soft.

The only downside is they are soooooo long so I'll need to find a proper seamstress to have the trouserlegs shortened. But first I need to decided the heel height I'm going to wear them with. Tricky!

Drywhiteplease · 20/02/2015 18:51

Evening all! Smile
Well I went to check out flares today. My pathetic TS didn't have Jamie's so popped next door to try River Island Brook flares (mentioned on a blog) and they were v nice but a 34" leg, so ridiculously long. I loved them though.

ujj I agree with the boot cut v flares. These flares reminded me v much of Oasis Scarlet boot cut which I used to love and were immensely comfy and flattering back in the day.

But, here's the question:
Redoing a trend makes me feel odd as I've been fashion brainwashed for so many years to think that flares/boot cuts are dated and skinnies are in.
Im 48 I know you're all shocked sort of classic, if wear flares am I going to look like Im stuck in a time wrap rather than on trend? bare in mind I live in a provincial town, think skinnies only arrived here in 2009!!
Is this a trend breathes in, I hate saying this for the younger/more directional amount us?

Karbea · 20/02/2015 19:01

dry I feel exactly the same about flares, if I was young, tall, cool, living in London I'd be all over them...

I'm so unsure about the hl leather leggings, I've tried them on 3 times now...

QueenCardigan · 20/02/2015 19:04

drythats exactly my worry! I think I've said on here before that it could just look like you never stopped wearing them rather than on trend. Off out now and was contemplating wearing mine but not sure that I cba faffing around with footwear.

After a week of drinking/ eating, no make up, unblowdried hair, trainers and anorak has left me feeling fat and frumpy. The fuschia lips will be coming out and I may sod the flares and put a dress and heels on just for the hell of it!
