Speaking of competitions, I won an outnet competition to go to London Fashion weekend and see one of the trend shows - big weekend for me night away in town with DH on the sat, then Somerset house on the Sunday followed by Lionel Richie at the O2 in the evening. Something for everyone there!

OneLittleLady · 17/02/2015 21:58

ujjayi I'm not good with compliments either, i sort of dissolve into a fit of giggles and blushes!

High style in the one house tonight as i'm in black, silver and grey Darth Vader pjs and bright pink flamingo slippers!

OneLittleLady · 17/02/2015 21:59

ooh, you lucky thing Amber!

Ha yes this was ages ago, possibly pre blogs?! For a print magazine. It did cross my mind it could be for a don't do this - either way we legged it.

Well done on the comps Amber and Ujj!

libertychick · 17/02/2015 22:02

Sounds like an MNV 'no' to the shoes Smile . I might buy them on sale in a few months, I seem to gravitate towards them every time I pass a branch of Clarks.

Good luck tomorrow Shop. Your DF comes first in this case for sure.

Ujjayi well done on winning the competition.

One I need sandals for holidays too (I am going to Canary Islands in March) but I'll buy them over there.

Welcome back Cranagh*. Love those boots and the parka. Great price for the boots, well spotted.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 17/02/2015 22:05

Amber I won that comp last year! And got my pic taken never appeared Well done, and Ujjayi on the topshop one.

I don't like Nando's but I do like GBK (they are the same in my head because you go up to order your food). And only been to Wagamama once. My fave cheapish chain is Prezzo.

shop of course your DF's health comes first, I hope he is doing well and that your DH realises and makes it up to you.

libertychick · 17/02/2015 22:06

Well done Amber - sounds great.

I would definitely assume it was a 'what are you thinking' shot if I was stopped in the street, unless it was for something like 'Good Housekeeping'. I think they might appreciate my style Smile

shopafrolic · 17/02/2015 22:11

YY Cranagh nice to have you back here :)

I'd never get snapped for my style. My wedding pics were in a wedding mag though.

I'm going to bed, I'm fed up,with this house stuff. Dh reckons we should go with the 3 narrow windows, I'm so unsure, I don't think I'd have liked it if I'd viewed the house but then I'm not crazy on the house anyway, I prefer older houses... Anyway he thinks it'll look good,
The paint/curtain thing is hard. I feel, like painting the thing magnolia!

MarshaBrady · 17/02/2015 22:30

Karbea wedding magazine sounds good, hope you kept it.

Lib that's not true, but funny! Grin

Santa you've been so good lately go for it

Cranagh great to see you

santamarianovella · 17/02/2015 22:43

ujjayi its from one of the metiers d'art collections think its the Byzantine one, she also have an exquisite blouse with lemarie feathers, from one of the early cruise collection Karl did for chanel, those were very underrated back then as no celebs were in attendance, bet then they got bigger and prices are so much higher now,

amber that sounds FAb

marsha I'm sure it one of those 'dos' cool couple dressing kinda of thing,

Next to Britney and JT in double denim don't Grin,

karbea I know its frustrating,I'm losing sleep these past couple of days due to a difficult client, and I feel like throwing the towel and walking out,
But whatever you do don't paint it magnolia!
Our house is not looking nice ATM, its a mixture of some stuff we brought from London, with cheapish stuff from here ,its all mishmash looking, will start doing it next month properly when I'm done with what I'm working on, and focus more on it,

But as I said, do one thing now,and wait till all is done, then do a big decorating job,

As for the door, maybe use a metal glass sort of screen divider? , well it will look like a window,It will look very nice with stone flooring,if you change them in future,

Drywhiteplease · 17/02/2015 23:03

Shop you're doing the right thing of course, hope the appointment is ok Thanks.....it's so worrying when parents are unwell.

linus I adore chicken and spicy stuff so love Nandos and am totally manic about collecting chillies on my cardGrin also am a big fan of Wagamamas I have teenagers, that's my excuse but I draw the line at Subway never, never.

Right, tomorrow I'm going for much needed afternoon drinks in the CITY ooooh errrrr with the girls. Am going to debut my leather skinnies dd was Hmm bloody teenagers what do they know have been pinning looks like mad, think I'll go black and camel for a change Grin

OneLittleLady · 17/02/2015 23:17

I'm sure you'll find just the right look with them Dry

I like the spicy side of nandos food....but....I hate the decor because I'm scared of chickens/cockerels Blush I really am, every time i go to nandos, I keep my eyes on my plate and don't look at anything haha

Cranagh · 18/02/2015 09:54

Shop, your DH will get over it, you are right to go with your dad today.

Hope your sandals turn up, One!

Liberty, you should get the shoes, you like them.

Love Nandos too. And that Hermes bag, wow!

Karbea · 18/02/2015 10:21

santa where would I buy something like that (window).
I won't paint it magnolia, it must be a lot more frustrating with a client, than with yourself.
I'm struggling as dh and I like different things, he wants something textured (velvet) whereas I'd prefer something with colour, maybe linen...
The easy thing would be to take the fabric and get it colour matched but the fabric from Prestigious seems to change colour depending on how the light hits it...

libertychick · 18/02/2015 14:15

Quiet here today - where is everyone???

Cranagh I might just buy the shoes and not own up to it Wink

Karbea hope you have managed to make some decisions. Part of the problem is too much choice with everything.

I am in an office today (have been WFH a lot lately) so wearing Pure collection pencil skirt with cream APC merino sweater and M&S snakeskin shoes. Nude tights, the sun might be out but I'm not able for bare legs yet!

Topazandpearl · 18/02/2015 14:33

Your outfit is great Lib (I have those shoes too).

Hope your DF's appointment goes well today Shop. I am on my way home after a few day's with my DP's. They both have health conditions, which despite treatment, are steadily worsening. Old age is no fun.

Frustrating about your sandals One! Hope they turn up.

Never been to Nando's or Subway, but have been to Pizza Express. I know the DCs love Nando's.

DH and I are such ditherers when it comes to home decor that we end up never doing anything! I sympathise Karbea.

Well done on the competition wins Amber and Ujjayi. Enjoy the prizes.

Drywhiteplease · 18/02/2015 17:24

MNV ..... amber live my leather skinnies , bit squeaky and tricky to get up after going to the loo but feel great . Afternoon cocktails going well. Feel chic. X

Stokey · 18/02/2015 18:01

Thank you all for the advice re jobs - especially QueenC's list of questions, I think you definitely have a future as a career advisor. I'm already realising how much DD1 values being picked up by me, and starting to see how extra curricular actvities depend on me picking her up rather than after school club or a child minder.

It has clarified that I do want to retain my day "off" more than I want to work full time. In fact in an ideal world, I'd work 3 days. The job (which I haven't been offered yet) is quite senior so high in kudos but it's a small company so the pay isn't great. In fact someone else rang up to interview me for another position yesterday, and after chatting about flexible hours and salary expectations, we decided it wasn't really worth me going to meet them.

It already feels like time is flying by, it won't be long til they're teenagers slamming doors in my face so I should appreciate this bit now!

AmberNectarine · 18/02/2015 18:15

Glad to hear it dry - I love mine too!

Embracing the 70s today - burgundy gazelle high tops, indigo TS skinny flares, pale grey chunky rib knit Crew neck jumper, dark grey faux fur coat and navy Gucci disco. I liked this outfit - felt good for a day that involved lunch with colleagues and a trip to the park with the DCs.

LinusDKD · 18/02/2015 18:41

Evening!

I decided at the last minute to go into town today as I had to find a Mary Katrantzou dress DM has been lusting after for ages but which she can't find where she lives.

Luckily I found it, tried it on, took some pictures and sent it all to her in the space of 15 minutes. Grin

All she has to do now is decide whether she likes it 'IRL'

I also went on the hunt for the Stella McCartney blazer I pinned a while ago, but no luck. I tried three shops and they were only just receiving the S/S collection so I'll go back in a few weeks time.

I hope it went ok with your DF today shop?

stokey it sounds like you can afford to wait for the perfect job so I think I would do that if I were you.

Sounds like you're having fun dry! Go easy on the cocktails!

Great outfit amber! Any pictures? Wink

Love the sound of your outfit too lib!

Karbea · 18/02/2015 19:09

Evening all,

I've got a headache, I don't know if it's dust or the stress of walls/windows.

I'm actually at the point where I think I'm just going to get them to paint the room in an off white, maybe dulux chalky downs 5, or jasmine white, or natural calico... I know this is a complete cop out but it's that kind of colour now and trying to work out what colour matches the fabric is just too hard for my brain for some reason.

I gave up working full time two and a half years ago, I don't have children but I wanted to give my dogs as much time as is fair, so I only work 13 hours and never any longer than 4 hrs, I work a 4min walk away. I do miss the feeling I got by doing my old job, I was pretty senior. And it does feel a bit odd telling people what I do now, plus people assume if I gave up my job I must have children etc, etc... But overall I actually don't know how I ever had time to work full time must have lost all my time management skills I do wonder if I can do this forever, but I couldn't go back to what I used to do...
Life/work balance is so important and so under valued I think.

QueenCardigan · 18/02/2015 20:58

Evening all. Still having a fab time.

stokey glad I could help. It's not an easy decision at all. I was lucky in that I'd reached the pinnacle of my career pre kids so it was an easier decision to give up. Also to work in the nhs you need to give at least 110% and when your oh does that too and you have dc it's just not compatible with family life.
lib I'm not personally keen on the soles of those shoes but I don't think that they're a complete no no. If you like them get them.

QueenCardigan · 18/02/2015 21:01

karbea I meant to ask you how many dogs you have? Don't feel odd at all. Dogs are pretty much the same commitment as do as far as I can see .(hence we don't have one. Yet). If you worked longer hours you'd just be paying for dog walkers.
